- In Forbidden Lies, filmmaker Anna Broinowski investigates the case of Norma Khouri Bagain, a Jordanian women who wrote the best selling Forbidden Love, a supposedly nonfiction book about an 'honor killing' that allegedly took place in Amman. Forbidden Love book was interpreted by many Jordanians, including prominent women, as an misrepresentation of Islam. As the book's errors and impossibilities were pointed out, Khouri's story and reputation began to fall apart.

It's true we've heard a lot of honor crimes in Jordan.. she could have done much better by telling real stories.. specially that Jordanian people nowadays are becoming more aware of how cruel is that and that many women are demanding their equal rights.. no lies are needed.. what a shame..

Face is the index of a person. This lady's face is stamped with guilt all over it. This case shows again how incapable the law can be at times in convicting the so obvious crook. As they say, GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I agree with you. Her Australian friend was so suspicious. Obviously she was involved in on the money scams and turned on Norma to cover her own ass.
I just think she was a racist, scared white woman who let her beliefs blind her until she became the victim, at which point she couldn't ignore it anymore.

If she has real problems n her life, she should keep them for herself, not making lies to people who r Muslims n have an Islamic system to follow.

There is a cheeky little extra shot (after the credits) in which the actress playing Dalia lies dead on the morgue table, then turns to face the camera and asks, "How was that?"
They should make a movie about this woman, never in my life i have ever seen such a liar ...she is ill..
Wow what a fantastic doco! I watched this as part of my uni English course and can't wait to talk about it tomorrow.
