The professor is dismissive of the wahhabis because they did not have major contributions to Islamic though but it was precisely their simplification of Islamic thought which was the basis of their appeal. Just follow tawheed and the rest is superfluous they seem to say and to the simple minds in the Nejdt seemed to have had a great deal of appeal.
