VIBING to DRUNKEN SAILOR - VoicePlay (acapella) ft Jose Rosario Jr. | Reaction Video! Видеоклипы
This was definitely the most modern-sounding version of Drunken Sailor we've ever heard! Do you agree? 🤩
The drunken sailor is Matthew Bucky Buckner, a very early member of VP when they were still called 4.2.Five. He does sing but is mostly a voiceover artist and entertainer at Universal Studios in Orlando.
That’s so cool! Thanks for the info! 🤩
Our drunken sailor is Bucky who used to be a member of 4:2:Five before they became VoicePlay. His singing voice hit some snags and he went to Disney World as a voice actor. He also recently did a couple of minis with VoicePlay. When Geoff suggests that he will carve his heart out (with a wooden spoon no less), Eli comes back with a British accent. This pairing is a tribute to Alan Rickman in Robin Hood.
Didn't know that Bucky used to sing with them from way back when! Thanks for the info! 🙌
This version was done for silly fun, obviously not for historic accuracy. Lol.
I love Eli's evil smirk when he is called a monster.
ROFL definitely NOT historically accurate! 😆
The "Hey!" was also used in Hoist the Colours, remember? Usually it's Layne that writes Geoff's part so low, this time he did it to himself. This was so much fun to watch, the Behind the Scenes was hysterical. What amazes me is that the vision was in Geoff's head, but they did not practice that blocking until the day of the shoot.
They are absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!
Thanks for the reminder! We knew it sounded familiar 😄
The fact that they didn’t rehearse the blocking just shows how great their chemistry are together !
Carrie's face anytime Eli hit those highs--made this reaction worth watching!! Thanks for another fun one, you two!
That actually is a real razor, but Kathy spent time blunting it towards a pavement so that nobody would get hurt.❤ Such a great version and such a fun video! I love their humour!😂
Bucky was also the one responsible for the choreography Zhen tried out in Monster Mash.
Fans called it The doll from.hell during premiere. Geoff replied her name was Clara and she had feelings....
He was a choreographer for that? That's so cool! The tidbit about the doll is pretty funny too! 😄
the razor was real! Kathy had to blunt it before it was used as a prop! this was such a fun cover ❤🏴
Nooooooo! As a straight razors lover, my heart bleeds thinking of it being blunted. 🤦🏼♂
@@DavideBaroniThen don’t watch the behind the scenes. It shows her outside scraping it along the curb of the sidewalk.😱
@@janetdw 😭😭😭
Could have done it with a simple glass... It would have been easier to bring it back to use. Or use a prop. This hurts as a crime! 😭😭😭
Those things are pieces of art. 🙄🤦🏼♂
It’s so scary to know that it was a real razor, despite being blunted! 😨
@@ZhenYaoYin ...Because you don't know them, likely. I shave with those razors since 41 years ago, and they are soooo sweet, there's no multi-blade that can possibly be THAT gentle. ❤
But I understand they can be dangerous, which is why I would expect it to be a prop... 😢
To recover the edge of a razor blunted that way, if possible, will require so much work that you'd probably better buy a new one. 😞
I see Layne's whale move as a call back to Wash (Firefly) and his dinosaurs - Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
LOL! I never got around to finishing Firefly, but I recall that scene... It was so random!! 😂
Great reaction!! I'd never imagine a version of drunken sailer like this!! I'm always impressed by their creativity! How they can transform a song and give it a new life is just mind blowing!! So much fun and very proud to be their patreon!
It really is a fantastic rendition! 🤩
Drunken Sailor is past member Bucky from back when they were known as 4:2:Five.
That’s something I never knew before! Thanks for the info! 😄
Geoff complains that a lot of the songs people want then to do are repetitive. So he’s gotten very good at writing bridges to break them up. And all of them feel like they belong there (even if we don’t think we’ve ever heard them before!)
That just goes to show how amazing his writing ability is, he always knocks it out of the park! 🤩
When you watch this again watch Eli. His face and expressions are hilarious all the way through.
They all brought their A game for this! 😆
I've been looking forward to your reaction, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks! I love the way they update the rhythms and transform older songs, and this was no exception.
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤
Great reaction. This was so much fun.
I believe the “hey” That you’re remembering is the one that they did in Hoist the Colours. Jose was in that one as well so that may be why it sounds so familiar.
I think that the whale and longboat that Layne is playing with are a nod to the cover of the Wellerman. That’s why Eli is shaking his head so frantically and looks so distraught when the whale finally catches up.
Eli really got into the part he was playing. He looks absolutely delighted that he is the monster when Geoff is going to carve his heart out… With a wooden spoon. That is a nod to Alan Rickman in Robin Hood.
Bucky was also in the mini of the Candy Crush song as the deranged mall shopper that decided to pop in. You can see him in the background bopping along. He is so funny!
I hope we see more of him. He has his own brand of silliness to their special kind of dumb. He seems to hang out in the mall😂.
It was a Robin Hood reference? Wow! I never realised!
Also Bucky sounds like my kinda guy... A dad who sings, games, and has a bit of a silly streak! 😆
DRUNKEN SAILOR
Yes, the drunken sailor is Matthew "Bucky" Buckner, a member of the group back in the 4:2:Five days. As you mentioned, he also appears in the mini I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) and in Candy Caravan Escapade. He was also the choreographer for Geoff's Monster Mash video. It was a real razor that Kathy dulled for safe use in the video. We're told "The doll's name is Clara and she has feelings." Geoff indeed wrote the music and lyrics for the bridge. Fun (or creepy) facts: The lyrics for Drunken Sailor have a darker meaning than what they appear to be. Putting him in the long boat can either mean sticking him in the boat lashed to the side of the ship until the swaying and heaving causes him to be sick and sober up, or to actually put the longboat into the water with the unfortunate pirate inside, having it trail behind the ship at the mercy of the ship's wake. Shaving his belly with a rusty razor might induce tetanus or at least a nasty infection. Sticking him in a scupper (the drain holes on a ship's deck) with a hose pipe on him means to lay him, face up, with his head in a scupper, then to hose him down with cold, disgusting bilge water from the bottom of the ship, Putting him to bed with the Captain's daughter actually means to tie him down on the deck and lash him with a cat-o-nine-tails. Geoff's lowest note was a D1 subharmonic at about timestamp 1:25.
I should point out that sailor does not equal pirate, as you seem to call the drunken sailor a pirate. Pirates are sailors, but most sailors are not pirates.
Thanks for sharing! I find it so fascinating that these 'folk' songs always have very dark backgrounds ☠
@@catwhowalksbyhimself I used the word "pirate" at one point because that is the type of characters being portrayed in the video. These punishments for drunkenness happened on Royal Navy ships as well.
@@MiladyMacabre There is nothing in this portrayal that says pirate. Arguably the accent, but even the stereotypical pirate accents are based on sailor's accents, because pirates were sailors.
Missed you guys! You were gone for a short while there. Glad you are catching up on your Geoff & VoicePlay videos. That is the main reason I keep subscribed to you. That and you two are so GOOD together. 😍
Aww, glad to be back! “Real life” has been really busy lately, hence the slow uploads 😵💫
This was even better than when I sang it in junior high school choir! (Lots better!)😶🌫️
I live for Cesar twerking...
ROFL!!! 🤣🤣🤣
The bts for this was just hilarious. They take overdone songs and make them almost new again.
If you weren't aware, the things done to a drunken sailor are all punishments - and not nice at all.
The Captain's Daughter is a cat-o-nine tails, and the sailor is flogged until bedridden.
These “folk” songs always seem to hide dark disturbing facts 😰
