  • Meet the new addition to our narroboat Briny Marlin. Mr Russell joined us on the boat this summer and quickly made it his new home, though not so sure to begin with, we now wouldn't have it any other way.

Outstanding work J&M. If it was me I would have pressed on regardless & cut the sink top. After all its only a tenner. But Fair doo's girl you did Mr. Russel Proud!
Now don't take this the wrong way as it's meant as a compliment, but watching your video's always puts a smile on my face as I can't help thinking about Victoria Wood in your style and mannerisms. Thank you for the vlogs I can't wait to see what the next one brings.

While I was also up for carrying on regardless, i think in the end it was worth it as Mr Russel does look fantastic. You're not the first to mention Victoria Wood. Thanks for watching, best, Martin

Wow Gordon Russell furniture is lovely. I have a beautiful dining table which I too got for a bargain...cost me nothing and is stunning. Good to see you are restoring this lovely piece.

Wow, that looks great. Well worth the effort of restoring it...

Definitely! Though at the moment he's covered in bubble wrap to protect him from us as we're still working in and around the kitchen area - long story and maybe another video. By the way, our channel is nuts but "I love it!", best, Martin

Love that side board, you did a fantastic job with it. Well done for preserving a little bit of history.

Hi Dylan & Steven, thanks for watching and for the lovely comment. It did take a long time but it was worth it in the end, we are the one's that tend to rescue the wonky christmas tree that nobody wants and things like that, so this was right up our street though without knowing it's heritage at the time. Best, Martin

I noticed you have mains sockets with integrated usb. If you haven't already I would also fit some 12v usb sockets. This will let you charge your phone/tablet from your batteries even if the inverter is off (or broken)......and its more efficient than having an inverter on just to charge your phone...

Thanks and well noticed. We do also have a few 12v USB sockets in strategic places around the boat. Although planned, I've only recently found out that charging through tese is better. Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you have a lovelt New Year! Best, Martin

Hi Tania, although hard work during some of the hostest days in the summer, it was enjoyable work and especially seeing the transformation from tatty sideboard to something special. Thanks for watching and for sending the link through, a little out of our price range but good to see. Best, Martin

Jacqueline - I noticed you were wearing a useful-looking dust mask when sanding Mr Russell. Could you tell me where you got it, please? I need a half-decent one for when I'm doing woodwork. Thanks!

    • @TheNarrowBoatToTheDeepNorth
      @TheNarrowBoatToTheDeepNorth  4 года назад

Hi Helen, I replied to your question already but it doesn't seem to be listed here, very strange. If you've already read it then you can ignor this one. The dust mask was from Wicks and Jacqueline does like it and finds it more comfortable than some of the others we've used. Sorry this is a bit late, hope the project is going well, what are you doing btw? Best, Martin

@@TheNarrowBoatToTheDeepNorth Hi Martin & Jacqueline, thanks for the info. I have terrible trouble with dust masks steaming up my glasses and preventing me from breathing! We are currently fitting out a 31' 'butty (giant game of Tetras!), which will eventually be our workshop, but once we have sold the house and can get our liveaboard boat built, we will be living on the butty (NB The Buthy) while that happens.

Today must be the day channels I had almost given up on return to YT. Great to see you and your new house guest. I googled those prices WOW. He is looking dapper though :-)

While we're not prolific on YT we are still here, but it's nice to be missed. Sometimes the work takes so long to finish (as you can see from the video and how Jacqueline's hair changes) and then time to edit it all the hours down together so it makes sense, also takes ages. This one was filmed over around 6 weekends.
Yes, the prices are a bit WOW!
      Thanks for watching, best, Martin
