I intended this to be a fun video about an idiosyncratic event at the Ithaca Farmer Market. Many in the comments section have taken it as an opportunity to express opinions for or against the use of masks. These arguments permeate social media. I have no interest in hosting them on my channel. For the record, I am a proponent of wearing masks and engaging in social distancing. We have a recent outbreak in our county that is spreading at an alarming rate. The Rutabaga Curl was billed to require both masks and social distancing. The social distancing component was not practiced or enforced. This is the frustration I expressed in the video. I wore a mask for the entire farmers market, except when I was addressing the camera. Any further comments for or against mask wearing or about Covid in general will be deleted. Go elsewhere if you want to express your opinion on this issue. Have a great day.

These local community events are always so much fun. Several miles north of me there is an annual "Rooster Crow". People bring their roosters from all over and it's a whole rooster themed day.
That was a blast to watch!!! I love when communities form traditions like that, especially when its very tongue in cheek 😊 I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you and Hilary this past year (and the year before that) and I want to thank you both for putting yourselves out there, for entertaining us, and teaching us. I know living in a glass house brings the jerks with stones, but I hope that there have been enough positive feedback from your viewers to offset those few jerks, trolls, and safety nazis. I don't know if you will post again before the holidays, so I'll take the time here to wish you and your family the most wonderful and merry Christmas. Its been a couple tough years and "merry" isn't what many of us are feeling, but you are very blessed to have your family close, and your "therapy" just outside the house in the form of cows eating, piglets squealing and scurrying, and tractors with the greasy parts that need cleaning or repair. Mine is in the form of a sweet, empathetic dog, 5 young laying hens who are learning to like chicken cuddles, and 4 NZ breeding rabbits that insist on being loved on and spoiled like little children. I wish more folks could find something like that to bring them moments of peace in this crazy world. And I hope you continue to post periodically on things like that, finding joy and reducing stress. I know you must think what you say is just common sense, but folks are stuck in their own rat races and can't see what's right in front of them. Anyway, thanks for sharing the fun at the market; it really made my day!

I love watching your videos. They remind me of the times this small town Minnesota girl spent at grandma's farm . Even through depression times, my aunt said they never went hungry.. chickens for eggs and always chicken for Sunday dinner, cows for milk and meat and Grandma's big garden . They may not have had much money but they always had food to eat. I miss my grandparents and the farm as both are gone now. My kids never had the chance to spend time on the farm. So sad!

In Atlantic Canada, we call them Turnip. Years ago when an upper Canadian grocer setup their self-serve checkouts in our area, I had to get help from a real person to weigh and price a Turnip. She said those are called “Rutabagas” in Ontario. That was the first time I heard of the term. We have expressions like “I didn’t fall off the Turnip wagon yesterday” Turnip grows well in our climate and is a common vegetable on our dinner table. We always have one on hand in the pantry.
JJS, We have both rutabegas and turnips in the US. They are slightly different colors and I believe the rutabega is larger. We also use that same term! 😊

Being English we use the same terminology, but I think these are Swedes, not Turnips.

I think rutabagas have orangish yellow imeat and turnips have white meat.
