Key & Peele replaced "The Chappelle Show" which was Dave Chappelle's comedy sketch show (2003-2006), but he abruptly left the show in the 3rd season (it is a whole story, there are YT videos about it). If you start reacting to The Chappelle Show episodes, you can see the similarities because they basically took Dave's format and used it to create Key & Peele (2012-2015). Both shows were hilarious, but some would say The Chappelle Show was funnier.

The show was basically a way of comedy central trying to do Chappelle's Show after he quit. In fact, Chappelle has a joke about it in one of his specials. Not that k&p aren't hilarious. But it is the exact same show format.
They became funnier than Chappelle and surpassed him.
His joke just meant they filled a vacuum about black humor. Key and Peele are funny as hell. Chappell is funny as hell. The joke wasn’t meant to discredit the actual writing and performances of Key and Peele.
Can we stop supporting reaction channels... How many more people going to jump on the bandwagon of having nothing to offer and try to make an easy buck by watching things... It's the dumbest fucking thing that we allow to happen. Watching RUclips videos as a RUclips channel. Go on tell him all the things you want to watch him watch lmfao. Maybe you can get someone to watch you watch him.
