Well said. Surprised at the hate Kai W got from the Fro, stopped watching Jared Polin awhile back he can be occasionally a bit insulting but is pretty thin skinned. There’s plenty of good YT channels that are joyful and positive so watch those now, one of those is Kai Won 🤓 I would say just don’t respond to negative comments or watch negative videos, people will eventually just stop because it will become pointless

Good points well put. You are a credit to RUclips photographers and that open mindedness must be appreciated with the difficult day job as a cop. It's very refreshing to see a vlogger who is not negative and not trying to influence you into buying or ditching something.

I personally never enjoyed JP's style and haven't watched anything in his channel for about a decade.
There was one RUclipsr who reviewed Pentax gear, but he could start an argument in an empty room, so I gave up on that channel too. I get that controversial and confrontational styles can "sell" a channel's content to the RUclips algorithm, but it really doesn't lead to anything helpful.
Then there's the clickbait... Ugh... When you exclude all those channels, there's really not much left for us!
Well, there's still your channel, Matthias Burling, Snappiness and other good people. Keep up the great, POSITIVE, work!
I love this. The message must be working because the comments are mostly if not all (I didn’t read them all just a quick scroll) are very positive and supportive.
Kai is a much better presenter than Polin. He's not such a narcissist either.
i totally agree with what you are saying -- added that people sometimes should follow this golden rule of "if you got nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all"... just seems to be a solid rule that I learned when i was young and should make a come back. - or at least follow the idea of "constructive criticism" that we want to give ideas to build someone up than tear them down.
though I wonder where is this voice clip come from? Jared's podcast or is it old? Didnt really see it talked about any where else.

This! Thank you so much for this video! I might not have too many followers on yt but some of my videos gained some interest and of course some trolls appeared, too. Although my head says "just ignore it" it often is discouraging to read negative comments. I'm a huge fan of constructive critique but the vast majority of photography haters have no intention in being constructive. But when I look at it objectively, I feel bad for the haters - how bad must your day be if bashing someone else feels like a good idea to you?

That kind of attitude stems from pure jealousy and there's not much more to it. Digitalrev got me interested in photography long before I ever chose to take it up as a hobby...Why should it matter how capable of a photographer Kai is? None of the top gear trio were particularly skilled drivers but that didn't matter to any of us who watched.

The most successful photographer I know didn’t even know what the exposure triangle is. She does 50+ weddings a year on full auto. Would be easy to talk shit but she makes bank. Btw, Jared P stinks.
I thought I'd also add, I think Jared Polin just had a brain fart moment when he ripped into Kai like that. I don't think Jared is a hater or a bad person, I think he's just the kind of person who wears his heart on his sleeve for everyone to see and says what he honestly thinks without any filters. That's not a bad characteristic. I think the Fro was just having a bad day. We all have them. Unfortunately when content creators have a bad day and put their views out in public they get slammed hard, which just perpetuates the toxic sewer that is youtube and social media. We should be kind and just accept that Jared was venting and it's ok to vent. I really hope he doesn't cop a heap of hate for it. Everyone has a blow out every now and then. To err is human, to forgive is divine. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents worth.
Good point, I hope your right! Fro has given more to the photography community than most of us, and as I said in de video, I don’t mean to take a jab at him. But where he goes, a lot will follow so my hope is he goes positive 😎

I think Fro got it mixed up. Kai is more a presenter than a photographer and I don’t recollect Kai ever trying to make out he’s a great photographer.
Being a emotional bitch as a grown man is a bad characteristic. Kai did nothing to him so there was no need to talk shit about him and digitalrev because he's jealous of how successful their channel got

i followed jared for a really long time. until he put his mother's death in a video and criticized his photos himself. i found that so absolutely tasteless to exploit his mother's death in such a way that i immediately unsubscribed. But his thing always seems to be on something bad to make. Such people you should simply not support especially if they are apparently so envious of other people.
Well I kinda like the guy and I do appreciate what he does for photography… But stuff like that is just fucked up 😑

Always loved digitalrev back in the day, i watched some of jareds stuff but it just didnt compare to what digitalrev was putting out at the time. good chemistry between everyone there and good humor to the videos. even after i stepped away from photography for awhile i was sad when i saw kai was leaving the channel.

I strongly dislike Jared at times. Happy to hear your podcast was positive also. I know a few fellows who go on their podcast and bring others down. So sad. Although, Jared does has a point. Kai seldomly does any real photography content. Which is also sad.

They are not pretending to be great photographers or videographers. They are entertainers, the same way the media doesn’t actually tell the news but just entertain viewers
Super sharp over saturated exposures doesn't equal good photography my guy. Jared talks big but his photos don't reflect his mouth.
