      That's great and all but it's mostly about culture and language barriers.
      Koreans usually learn from people they play with directly (like arcades) whereas people from everywhere else look for guides on the internet.
      Also, I don't think the usual Koreans will have the time to make English translated guides like JDCR especially when you already have people like Aris and Anakin making tips for literally every level of gameplay from beginner to pro

      Exactly. So many people have listened to boring advice like pick Kazumi or Shaheen to learn the game with and dropped it because they aren't nearly as cool and unique as most of the cast.
      A love for the character and having fun will drive new players to learn and enjoy the game at their own pace. It's all about having fun, not just winning.

    • @archishmanrick8754
      @archishmanrick8754 4 года назад +14

      @@xravenx24fe exactly my friend, it's all about enjoying the character you're playing, if not then you mostly won't get the drive to keep learning and playing. I for example have the most fun with King as I love the character and basically wouldnt play Tekken without King. I enjoy the challenge that comes with doing his precise execution techniques like normal and aerial isw, nuanced crouch dash mixups like even Cd GS or Cd muscle buster. I know King can be played cheap but I try not to. Now I'm able to fairly execute CD into muscle buster on 1p side at least heh, gotta hone it on 2p. I hope I can wavu with King someday. I occasionally also practice with Kazuya because I like the challenge of his high execution.

    I feel like Alisa was pretty easy to pick up; the entry to accessing much of her better stuff is fairly low, and I feel that she's good about teaching you spacing.
    Also: robot with chainsaws, and she can fly. I was fairly new to the Tekken franchise when I picked up T7, so to me, she stood out from most of the (non-DLC) cast because of her moveset.

    One exception to stance characters not being beginner friendly is Miguel i think.
    He has ONE key stance, but what's great about it is that it's easy to transition into (most of his moves do it) and from there it has a lot of great, easy to remember options. While most characters have multiple stances and transitioning into them can be tricky (Lei is the biggest example in my mind) Miguel makes it very straightforward.
    Miguel is baby's first stance character

    Too many people list Kazumi as the go to beginner character when her CH mids are lacking, has no ranged 15/16F launcher and her strings are rough compared to other characters you'll regularly encounter online. If anything I feel she forces an unnecessary amount of difficulty for a learning environment.

    Next that I would highly recommend is Law especially whe you have a bad connection. Law is at his natural state and at his best when you have a three bar or lower connection. No complicated moves, no poking, no juggles to memorise. Dragon tail can easily annihilate orange ranks on 3 bar. Two bar on the other hand turns Law from a good character to a character that is a literal incarnate of a god.

      it's not that hard, just learn your instant wr3,4. b2 wall carry combos. b4 counter hit combos. instant slide. crouch dash spamming and learn the crouch dash mixups. then learn his just frame move timings. then learn the wonky ass ff4 combos. then learn the crouch cancel combos. then get over the existential nightmare of being mid low tier, and become a violet main instead.

    I started Tekken when Noctis came out. I fell in love with the moves right away. Then I got stuck in Orange Rank because I wasnt playing the game properly. So I picked up law and Kazumi to learn the neutralgame i was lacking with because Noctis neutrals insisted of "ora db2". After a few months of hard work I reached Tekken God Prime with Noctis and can play every Character to a certain extend! So yes. Idk if this applies to other people but i think the easiest one i had to learn was josie. She has a pretty average set of skills, and average combos. Her combos are really easy to do (easiest being her sample combo, df2, f3, 33,fff3. This combo has a some extra drams where you can add extra moves (my main one being df2,f3,f3,33,ff,f3,33) which is very simple despite it being pretty long.) She also utilizes a stance called switch stance, that is accessed using certain moves, and doesnt need any other imputs(like how Steve have to add f or d to his move to trigger flicker or peekaboo, certain josie moves like 124, or d12 trigger switch stance. But, switchstance only has 4 moves on it(1 or 2 or 3 or 4(the dont have fancy shit like 12, 24,etc) but still pretty important for extra damage or combos.) And has a pretty simple moveset. You dont even need to know all her moves, but her main ones like (124,1),(df3),(33),(3f3), and her basic 12 are pretty useful(and cheesy) already.

    • @zackong2800
      @zackong2800 4 года назад +1

      I also thought Kazumi is good for learning but turns out she has 1 glaring spot that is not good for beginners. Her 15f punisher which is her hop kick can't punish anything that has the slightest of push back. I think this alone would not help beginners learn how to punish launch punishable moves well and in turn learn match ups as you normally would with someone with a real hop kick or d/f2. Many other characters with a hop kick and d/f2 can also normally whiff punish with them but Kazumi just can't do it. I think this alone would be a hurdle for a lot of beginners.

    • @gideonturner8716
      @gideonturner8716 4 года назад

      @@zackong2800 While I agree that it's a problem, I don't think it comes close to outweighing everything else that she has going for her. Most moves are -12 or -13 and beginners tend to stick to one punish that works for everything (e.g. i10 punish). Even if they knew something was launch punishable (highly unlikely), their muscle memory would just make them react and respond with the regular punish they use for everything. l mean, we don't consistently see optimal punishes even at the very highest level of play.
