Got my PSA1+ and my SM7B sitting right behind me in boxes.. Was wondering how to pair these two up and stumbled upon this video.. THANK YOU FOR THE CONVIENCE!!! hahah
I had the PSA1 for years and now I bought the SM7B and I cannot connect the two, the threads are different. Now, looking at some posts and the US manual it seems that you can use a coin to remove a gold adapter inside the SM7B. This is not indicated in the paper manual I have. That gold adapter seem to move inside but I cannot find a way to remove it. So disappointed, not sure what to do.
I saw someone else just post this issue too. The locking ring grinds up against the XLR cable. I ordered an extension but what XLR cables are you using in the video, it doesn't look like your XLR cable is grinding the locking ring?
My locking ring grinds up against the Neutrik end of the XLR cable without an extension tube attached, is mine faulty or does that also happen on yours?
my RODE PSA1+ worked like a dream for the first year but then just out of warranty began to sag holding my rode NT1000 and shock mount. Very disappointing indeed. I think possibly keeping it in the folded position in my studio ( when not in use ) may have stressed the middle spring ? who knows ? Tempted to buy another one and swap it out yearly before the warranty runs out. I tried the Blue Compass instead, absolute crap product. Any thoughts on what is the best most reliable ?
The two best right now are the PSA1+ and the Elgato Mic Arm. You can spend $500 and get a better arm, but those are the two best "affordable arms". Have you tried tightening the screws on your PSA1+?
Its not possible to tighten the screws on the PSA1+ . They are NOT adjustment screws. There are several videos of people that have tried and even pulled them apart. If you check with RODES themselves you will find they are not tension screws. Ive looked into the elgato but will look harder, Thanks for your response @@kettnercreative
Question... when you finish the with the final placement of the microphone at the 4:01 time mark, how do you get the microphone to stay angled up towards you when it's on its side? Whenever I have my mic horizontal (the silver metal, threaded piece), the entire mic rotates.
Just got my Shure mic and the stand in today, while putting it together I went to clip in the cable and sure enough it broke. I didn't even have much pressure on it :( Now I'm looking for a way to replace the clip.

Nice, glad to hear it! Good luck with your setup!
Love the Rode PSA Boom Arm... By far the best out there.
Yeah, it's awesome.
Just got a rode psa1+ for Christmas
Just got the PSA1+ through your links due to this video. Really appreciate it.

good thing how they know the design on the xlr intake is a bit in the way so they make more pieces they can sell very nice of them ...

where did you get your xlr cable ? which size is that
Trust Kettner Creative.
Is it possible and practical to add a pop filter to this setup? (In case I use the sm7b without its windscreen.)
You can always add a pop filter, but I would just use the built in one.

Great video! Definitely getting this boom arm now!

You need to tighten the big flat screw/washer on the PSA1+ against the sm7b.

Ugh, sad day. We had this happen to one of ours as well. Contact Rode and see what they say.
Bruh! Can we are able to connect sm7b with laptop?
Yeah you need an adapter
Hi, will that boom arm securely hold the EV RE 20?
Yes it should
@@theoutsiderjess1869 Thanks, but I'd like a more definitive answer from KC, if they can provide one.
Yes it does. I use it almost every day at my desk with the RE20.
@@kettnercreative Thank you, the RE20 is my favorite mic! The boom it's on now keeps sagging no matter how tight I get it.
@@TC_Conner I hear you. It's shocking how many boom arms can't hold microphones.
👍👍👍
