  • This video goes over a KT taping technique to help cue should posture and positioning.
To begin you’ll need 3 pieces of tape. Begin by having the person find their perfect posture. Once they are at 100% have them back off to about 80%.
1st piece: Goes past the mid-line of the shoulder and onto the bony AC joint and then work towards the mid back and onto the inferior angle of the scapula. This will keep the shoulders from rolling forward.
2nd piece: Starts in the same spot and travel towards where the neck and mid back join at the CT junction. This will help reinforce external rotation.
3rd piece: Closes off the triangle by laying along the medial border of the scapula to help reinforce a neutral spine.
Disclaimer: The tape will not hold the shoulder together, but it will help cue the shoulder to stay in proper alignment.
It is important to understand that the KT tape is not going to hold the shoulder in place or replace good exercises to improve posture.
Give it a try and let us know if you notice a difference!

I'm a PTA new to the OP world and found your video. Simple enough to understand for patients and also lets me know how i can explain it to patients. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. What type of taping can be performed if one scapula is lower than the other?

Taping can't hold the scapula down. It's not that strong. But taping to cue scap position depends on the why the scapula is higher/lower, figure that out first
