Dudeeeee this was such a great watch. Had me watching on 1x instead of 2x and everything. Fantastic shots, storytelling, and pacing. Excited to see more!
The match cuts between the cooking and writing scene was INSANE. So glad Stanford recognized your talent with filmmaking (I saw it after seeing your high school graduation video!) I was also shocked when I saw that you went to Issaquah (coming from a Skyline filmmaker lolll) anyway great video!
i think i fell in love in all seriousness tho as a current senior applying to colleges right now, this has encapsulated the very thought process i've been going through. kudos to u man.
As a filmmaker myself, this is some of the strongest visual storytelling I've seen in a short film ever. It's clear that you not only have talent, but you have the skills of someone who has poured hours and hours and hours and hours and hours into their craft, not because they want money, not because they want approval, but just because they love it. This video is a phenomenal work of art. You will go places.
You proved why Stanford accepted you, If they loose such an amazing filmmaker like you, It would have been a huge loss for your college. This was the best college decision video I've ever came across. You kept up with your title! Cheers for your journey towards achieving great things as a filmmaker ❤
I’m going to pretend this comment section is letterbox as it was the best cinematic experience I’ve had all week… a genuine portrayal of the college application process and my current life, emphasis on current, not future, as this beautifully conveyed that we are not defined by what schools we get into or what schools we didn’t. So beautifully made; this is film.
I seriously shed tears, this perfectly captured the feelings and things we face as seniors and what colleges and/or society expects us to do but it’s truly about doing what you want and not where you go. This is an amazingly beautiful and inspiring film. You have the potential to be the next Wesley Wang. Keep it up❤🎉
Wow, my guy casually made a movie. The cinematography and storytelling is next level. As someone who just graduated from university, it's such a precious and exciting time of your life. Keep it up man and all the best for the future :)
As a current high school senior: from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I've been so stressed, wondering if the schools I'm applying to are too above my range (and of course worrying about whether they'll reject me), but this gave me so much reassurance in my future. I may not know where I will end up, but regardless of where I go, that will not define my future. Only I can do that.
this gave me goosebumps, as a hs senior applying to college rn i can so relate to this😢😢 just got rejected from my dream school, this video made me realize senior year is so much more than just applying
Wtf this actually gave me shivers, it was so good. I’m a freshman (in the same hs u went to which is actually crazy cause I recognize those hallways and gym) but this rly means a lot. Even as a freshman I’m constantly just hearing about grades and test scores, college apps etc. and it’s sooo tiring but this literally made me feel so happy so tysm and congrats on ur acceptance!!
i love watching people do the thing they love so much. this video made me so emotional the pressure to get into a school is so immense that we forget why we started and why i want to do this , why do i love this . i am going through the same process and was waitlisted by my dream college. the situation made me so stressed out i could physically feel the pain in my brain maybe the voices got just to loud. seeing this really made me realise that okay maybe its not that bad. you'll be okay regardless. i have never been happier to watch a yt video so much. looking forward to more content.
I legit teared up, dude. It's such an overwhelming feeling to see someone who's passionate about something. Like damn, human really are full of love. And by watching this video alone, I can feel how much you love filmmaking and telling stories. It was a great watch, great pace, great story telling, and great directing. Wishing you all the best in your next journey. Hopefully we'll be able to see amazing works done by your hand in the future! ✨✨
Remarkable! The speeddating colleges idea, the literal definition of "let him cook" contrasted, the college logo board, and much more were so creatively and masterfully done. Congrats on going to Stanford, one of the few relatively solid ivy/ivy-equivalent universities left in modern post-secondary education. Excited to see who you connect with there to be inspired and what your vision brings to light!
You are such a talent and the fact that this was after college decisions shows you genuinely love this. I hope you have a long and beautiful career because I know I’d love to see your work again
you know they're a good film maker/story teller when you get emotionally invested in an 8 minute video (first time on your channel too!). that was beautiful.
This is by far the best most beautiful college decision video. From the cinematic portrayal of the unis to the final decision letter, so perfect you’re gonna reach so far in life
This was actually amazing. Definitely my favorite college decisions video ever. You completely encapsulated the drama of the college admissions process in a not generic, unique, and meaningful way. Great job!
I was moved to tears by this; the emotional response you evoked was unparalleled. The music, the underlying narrative, and your ability to encapsulate the feelings of every senior during these challenging times elevated this short film to another level, leaving me awe-struck. As a senior aspiring to attend a prestigious college like you, I deeply resonated with it. My goal is to get into BC, and I have felt inundated with angst and doubts about whether the countless hours of effort I've invested will pay off. Anyway, though I don't know you personally, this film beautifully reflects your character, and I can't wait to see you embark on your next journey. Keep capturing those fleeting moments that perfectly encapsulate what makes humans, humans.
got this recommended 2 months later but so glad that it did! I'm not even close to college age so I don't know the experience. But even my unexperienced self can feel the emotions you expressed! Loved the scene with you and the college-humans sitting in the table.
BROTHER ;00 Dude this was incredible wtf. The storytelling, the creative direction, the cinematography… amazing work bro. You never fail to impress me. It makes me incredibly proud to see you grow. Those colleges that rejected you are missing out on a talented individual 🙏 Wishing you the best for your future homie :^)
This peace of work displays how so many applying students like myself feel, and I feel a little bit better knowing my peers are on the same boat as me. I'll come back to this comment if I get accepted to my dream univeristy.
What the FUCK this is the first video to ever make me cry This is beautiful, people like you give me such high hopes for the film industry in the future. Best of luck to you
Yes, bro, I am in the same spot as you and feel you. I wanna say one thing - The bird when sitting on a branch not rely on a branch because when a branch breaks, a bird does not fall on the ground, the bird flies away because it trusts in its wings. Good luck bro, oscar is yours, Jesus loves you!
not a big commenter but as a freshman at Caltech and someone who loves films and making videos everything about this is near perfect and captures so many feelings that are hard to express. Keep inspiring!!
This is one of the coolest and most beautiful videos I've ever watched. I love the color grading, music choice, and story telling. Looking forward to watching more from you!
absolutely incredible! that was so pleasing to watch. this video is a testament of your love and passion for film making. u deserved that place at stanford!! but even if you didn't yes a school doesn't define a person I hope you continue making videos like these ❤️
Out of all of the college decision videos I’ve seen online, this is the best college decision video I’ve ever seen. Hope as amazing of a story teller as you one day
This video is more than exceptional; it's passionate. This experience was so great, man. Congrats on getting into Stanford. Please, post the playlist of this video because the music in it was absolute fire!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This gave me real emotions. I got shivers, my heart sank when I saw the USC rejection, terrified of the what ifs of my life, but it was so real. I love the cinematography. I think you’re going places and you’re destined to do filmmaking.
The choice of music and lighting expressed the emotions I can tell you were feeling perfectly. Thank you for sharing something so important to you!! This was beautiful
Literally the best college acceptances video ever! You have legitimate talent and you sharpen it everyday! I can’t wait to see what u can do for this world!
This truly changed something in me, as a senior applying to UCLA, USC, NYU etc. for Game design, i am anxious but your video was comforting instead of worsening my anxiety.
IHS alum that graduated 2 years ago - go you brother, absolutely love it & representing the eagles well. Looking forward to how you'll change the world!
as a current senior, I have never related to something more. this is truly so beautiful and it perfectly described this time in my life. thank you for sharing!!
WHAT DID I JUST WATCH!?!? This honestly was SO AMAZING! You captured the emotions so perfectly at the start, i could literally relate to so much of this video!! Congratulations on getting into Stanford, you deserved it!! 🚀
Don't know if you got in but this is amazing, and I can see the potential and passion you have for the craft and that is all that truly matters in fields that have to do with art and creativity. When you can envision a canvas in your mind and have then go on to bring that picture into a display and presentation that other people can also now visualize the innermost parts of your mind [ imagination] then that's just so radical
Bro only 9k views??? This video is insane. I clicked thinking it would be another 10-minute video of an anxious kid hovering their mouse over a status update button, but this video actually had me entranced. The way that the moments of just being a senior, being a teenager were interspersed with the story of applying to college just really stood out to me. And as a teenager with such a limited budget? This is amazing work. When you become a filmmaker you’re gonna be crazy good, and Stanford should be glad to have you.
This is amazing, the amount of time and effort you put into this is just WOW. You didn't take rejection to the heart and didn't let a school define you. GREAT PIECE OF WORK!!!
hey man, i don't know you but this short film rly touched me and made me a bit reminiscent of a couple years ago when i was applying to colleges. those years of acceptances and rejections will pass, some memories will stay with you, some what-ifs. but so will the memories that you are going to make going forward in college, the ppl you are going to meet, the great new adventures you are going to embark, and the new perspectives and thoughts that will inspire and challenge you. college does not define you, but the journey itself does, congrats on stanford you are going to do great! -- recent ucla grad and new sub!
Congratulations!!!! There don’t have good luck and bad luck, everything that happens to you that led you here! Thank you for sharing your amazing journey!!
film majors try not to reference damien chazelle challenge: hard (in all seriousness this is one of the BEST things I've watched in a really long time and you've inspired me to go pick up my camera again--so thank you!)
i knew he was going to cook once i heard that la la land music but seriously dude, congrats! this video was so unique and told such a powerful and beautiful story. you clearly deserve to be at stanford!! i remember coming across a vid of yours on instagram.. wishing you good luck with all your future endeavors, i know you're going to do something great! now just realized the la la land music relates to the pursuit of dreams (college) wow!!
I cried. i dont know why i felt your storytelling to be so close to my heart , i related to so many frames in this video that i cried. Even I'm typing this message with tears in my eyes. Wish you the best in life . Keep sharing stories the way you are, keep being the different one in this rat race of engineers and doctors. Goodluck :')
This is just the beginning. Eventually you will win an Oscar for Best Director. Congrats, Heechan! If this is the level of your talent at the end of high school, I can’t imagine where your filmmaking talents will be in four years.
this was beautiful... congratulations! mia & sebastian's theme was the cherry on top. crossed fingers I'll join you next year :') -another prospective arts student

I haven't played violin in a while but it was a nice throwback :) the main melody octives section is HARD to play. Congrats on Stanford!

The foreshadowing of stanford with the paper bag walking by at the start? Total genius. Really appreciate the attention to the finest details
