Make a plywood counter, then tile it would work great too. And much cheaper. A stone (granite/marble etc.) counter is very expensive and not something she NEEDS!!! It’s something that is nice to have, but most of us can’t afford having stone kitchen counters, so it is not something it makes sense to prioritize when you don’t have an income and need to pay for materials as well as the land PLUS to pay back that not-fiance-anyway dude for what he has paid for… Paying him off should be a much higher prioritized thing way before a stone counter!!!
