Thanks for the in depth video! The connector on driver’s side was a pain and I had to use needle nose vise grips with it pulled out of the hole to push it in far enough to release the sensor. This video helped me out a ton!
I will say it took me about one hour to change the sensor, I only removed the breather hose and used extra long handle needle nose pliers to release the sensor! That being said, it only took that long because I watched your video over and over. Thanks for all of your hard work!

this is pain in ass to replaced.. it took me 2 hours. Had my abdomen bruised. wire harnish wont badge out easily and connector compress and pull to remove. After even watched your video many times. mabuhay ka .saved me money.
I came from above (with feet over on drivers side) and with right hand felt for the bolt then took a box wrench and removed the bolt. But Still had to adjust wire harness to give more play to remove the bolt and the sensor (not much room). Then I used locking needle nose pliers with one hand and popped the sensor off the connector. This was on a 2008 Pathfinder. Took me about 20 minutes. Once I removed it I find out the replacement part that I got was not a true oem part because the housing was keyed incorrectly so I cleaned the one I just removed and reinstalled it ( course it still fails...) and then I ordered (made sure picture is exactly right) a different camshaft Position Sensor . At least I know now how to remove this easily. Without watching your video SIR this would of not been possible. Thank You!!!!
Oh man.. I certainly appreciate this video you took the time to do. I need to replace and since I have more time then money (don't have $$ to take to a shop and for sure not a dealership). It doesn't look like the most fun but with your video it will make it that much easier. Thanks a ton!
After watching numerous videos, I tackled these myself today. I did go with OEM NGK parts. Bank one passenger side is a pain in the ass but really only took about thirty minutes. I used a small vice grip to pop the sensor clip, that worked great! A little engine rebuild lube on the o ring of the new sensor and bamboo went right back in! Bank two, the drivers side took all of ten minutes, much easier. The parts and lube were 150.00 my time plus a great learning experience 100% free! I think I saved at least three hundred dollars by not going to a mechanic.
Thank you for showing the Ohm values on the camshaft/crankshaft sensor. The values: 4.17 M Ohm between "1" to "2" and "1" to "3", 1 k Ohm between "2" to "3" are what I got from ohming on Nissan Genuine part. This is a good reference for guys buying after market sensor with much less cost.
I did the drivers side last week, still had same problem. I did the passenger side today. Man!. You need a lot of patience for this. I did not disassemble anything except top cover. This video helped and I also used my GoPro camera for locating the bolt.
Gustavo Rodriguez I had to do the exact same for my wife’s 05 pathfinder. Replaced the one other one drove fine for 3 days problem came back. Did this one today and we will see how it goes... This video saved me!! I don’t know how he got a socket back there I used a 10mm wrench
I really like the way you do things, not too much talking always the right way and on point... Its kinda hard to find a really good and trusted mechanic that can fix cars like Angel...
This video was very helpful. I’m 6’5”, 300 pounds, and huge hands. It was a real SOB finding it, getting to it . This video shows better pictures and footage than any other. Thanks!
Damn, my wife just got this tonight on the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4L V6. Not looking forward to this after watching this. But thanks a bunch it eas helpful.
Most of these Nissan camshaft position sensors seem to fail when they get contaminated with oil but the bank 1 camshaft sensor in my 350z seemed to be clean and yet it failed. Most of the other people in the Nissan forums recommended that both camshaft position sensors and the crankshaft sensor be replaced when any one sensor fails. I did replace all three sensors in my 350z. The people in the NIssan forums also recommended the Hitachi sensors. They said that many of the aftermarket sensors failed prematurely. As you found out, you need some strong fingers to push down and release the connector with one hand. I had to put the sensor back into the engine so I could get some leverage to remove the connector after I heard it click and release. BTW, the Hitachi sensors can be purchased at RockAuto for a very good price.
Man, you were awesome om this video, i replaced bank 2 sensor and it was really tough, bank 1 seems harder but not impossible, im here becauses i wanted to see how to do u It, thank for the video
this just happed to my 2011 frontier 4.0 , code came up p0340 camshaft sensor I want to try to do this but I'm worried I won't be able to make it happen gunna try this weekend tho thanks for the video really helped
Any other Chanel’s wouldn’t show how to test it out.. you should do test what a good sensor looks like and what’s bad sensor looks like .. that way you have better options of hitting jack pot and replacing the right parts
Have the sensor on order and will be attempting this install, tomorrow, on my 2006 Xterra. The only reason I'm attempting this, is because of this video. I hope the sensor gods smile down on me favorably.... ugh
Holy shit thank you so much for making this video. It helped me a lot. What a pain in the ass this thing is. Watched some other videos where the sensor is on the front and easy to get to. But on a truck? Nah, you gotta dry hump the whole engine compartment for 20 minutes while trying to removed this fuckin thing without being able to see it, press in the button from hell, and pry the thing out without destroying the connector clip.

Hi, I had a problem with the P 0340 code, I replaced the sensor, everything was fine only when it warmed up, after shutting down did not want to ignite, after cooling again everything worked well. It turned out that the sensor under the influence of temperature changed operation. I had to buy a new sensor again and replace, this time I bought a more expensive sensor and the company "Delphi" now is all well, works as you need !! There are many parts that are of poor quality. Greetings from Poland.
awesome brother, you figured it out. i'm happy this video guided you. thank you for telling us the problem you had with aftermarket sensor. have a nice day.
Just fixed mine thanks to you. Your hands must be friggin strong, I had to use pliers to pop anything loose. If I had to do it again I am cutting through the firewall. /hyperbole, maybe But seriously, why don't they put service panels for hard to reach crap.
hafa adai!! thank you for watching my video. i miss Guam. Was going to visit this year summer but because of the pandemic we had to cancel. stay safe and stay well.
Finally i did it, i recommend to change both crank shaft sensors at the same time, passenger side and driver side. Because eventhough i changed the the bank 2 first(passenger side ) becuase it was stalling out an the freeway and street, too dangerous, after 4 month the ignition key took so much time to turn on, some times it did not. Again the motor stall exiting a seven 7, i had to push my truck. After 3 days i decided to go to a nissan dealer and the cost was 150, i decided to go to o raileys because in autozone was out of stock. My nissan frontier 2005 now works smoth. The slip code disapeared and the crank turned on immediately.
Great Video! Was very helpful for me to do the job. Just one comment, I found it easier to access both sensors from the drivers side after removing the top cover. Even took the bolt out with just an open wrench! the most difficult part was to get the freaking connector undone!
Awesome video brother! I have an 06 Frontier which shares the same setup as the Xterra and Pathfinder. I have 178K on my truck and am on pins and needles as to how long those sensors will actually last 😳. Thanks again!!

I have changed this camshaft sensor twice already. The heat under the hood makes all those plastic parts brittle so the crack and break. The second time I changed it which was a few days ago the connector cracked and now does not hold in place. Seems to be a common issue with these connectors since they are plastic and under a lot of heat plus age. Finding the connector is a task, but I found one that might fit it as they seem to say each side is a different connector. will post back my results if it works. Also note that the heater core inlet pipe is plastic and is prone to crack, don't buy it! its a waste of money just remove the cracked pipe from the rubber hose and connect it directly to the heater core pipe at the firewall.
I just did the crank sensor on my nissan xtrail you can do it under 2hrs. Straight down under mass air flow body, hose bracket needs loosening and moving out of the way
Dealt with this same pain the last couple of days. Putting it in and out, do believe one of the wires has a short because mine still doesn’t want to start after putting new sensor in. No codes found either
I love your videos. Have you done any work on exhaust before? I have a 2005 camry where something is broken off in the silencer pipe in the bulging section between the cat converter and the end muffler. So now theres a rattling sound when the engine idles rough or when I shake the end muffler. The car drives fine for now, no error code. Should I try to fix it by welding it back or cut off the broken pipe inside, replace the entire silencer pipe or ignore it altogether since its not giving me any problems? Thanks.
James Hong hi James, thank you for watching my videos. I really appreciate it. If you have the time and money get it fixed if it bothers you. For me, I would just leave it if there is no check engine light. I think a piece of the catalytic converter ceramic monolith broke off and is in the silencer pipe. Good luck. Have a nice day.
