when timing an engine you need to check the position of the valves,ie when pistons 1and 4 are at tdc number 4 cylinder valves should be rocking and number 1 cylinder valves should be closed.

I had my distributor 180 deg out. Sump off in chassis. Ya live and learn. I didnt see that the notches were offset
