  • Our first use of a bending brake to make a series of baseboard corner protectors out of the stainless sheets we recovered in a previous video. Initial evaluation of the 30 inch unit from Harbor Freight shows it to be much faster and more accurate, by far, than doing it by hand.

I found one at a garage sale for $10. I thought what the heck, I might as well get it. My first thought is to add a 1/4 inch angle iron across that flat bar that bends a little bit. At least clamp it all together then and maybe it won't bend. Thanks for the video!

I bought this sheet metal brake and I'm not really happy with it. I guess for what I payed for it, it is ok. I made the top plate so that I can tighten it down but I still need a C clamp in the middle to hold it down. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, depending on the length and gauge of the piece to be bent, several C clamps are necessary. Cost, usability and storage when not in use all factor in the decision to buy any tool. So far, this has adequately ticked off those boxes for me. Time will tell.
