7. Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet 6. Avenged Sevenfold 5. The Stage 4. Hail to the King 3. Waking the Fallen 2. Nightmare 1. City of Evil Ranking A7X'S albums is very hard. All of their albums are excellent!
In my opinion, this is a ranking system of A7X’s Albums. 7: STST (Tier: Shit besides a few tracks like Warmness On The Soul for an example/D-) 6: HTTK (Tier: Decent/C) (Only go back to Shepherd Of Fire, Hail To The King, Heretic, and Coming Home. Not bad, but not the A7X Standard) 5: Waking The Fallen (Tier: Pretty Good/B) (As low as I ranked this album, it’s still a highlight for the band, and has some tracks that have grown on me very well overtime, like Radiant Eclipse, is a slept on track on theirs in my opinion) 4: Nightmare (Tier: Amazing/A-) (Definitely the band’s most recognized sound and personal album to them, I’ll always have a great respect for The Rev and this album) 3: The Stage (Tier: Fantastic/A) (Objectively the best record they’ve done, from the concept to the experimentation succeeding at just about everything they attempt to do instrumentally and sonically. The only reason this isn’t number one is because I personally have a love for the other two albums that I’ll explain) 2: City Of Evil (Tier: Fantastic/A) (Now I see your point about the deeper cuts and repetitive instrumentation, but I don’t think every song sounds the same. It has a definitive sound you’ll remember from start to finish, sure same can be said about Nightmare, but the two albums prior to COE relied a lot on the instrumentation, they were definitely making a transition in their sound from STST to the Self Titled.) 1: Self-Titled (Tier: Timeless/A+) (I love everything about this album and I feel like this album is the album the band truly found themselves.)
A recurring problem I have with A7X albums is that I often don’t care for their deep cuts. Nightmare and The Stage (perhaps because of Brooks Wackerman on drums xD) are the only of their albums I’ve made it all the way through without losing interest.
There are 3 tiers: Pretty good tier: 7. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet 6. Hail To The King Amazing tier: 5. Self-Titled 4. City Of Evil Top tier: 3. Waking The Fallen 2. Nightmare 1. The Stage Some underrated as heck songs. Shattered by Broken Dreams, Clairvoyant Disease, Eternal Rest, pretty much the whole second half of CoE specially Strength of the World, Lost, Broptom Cocktail, Victim, Requiem, and pretty much all of The Stage specially Higher. I actually like City of Evil's second half way better than the first half, Sidewinder and Strength of the World are top 5 songs to me. Exist is and probably always will be my favorite song. I 100% agree with Dear God, to me it ruins ALPOH's perfect ending and adds nothing to the album.
I love them all, but the self-titled album is by far my favorite. I worked as a delivery driver at the time that album was released, so I played it A LOT!
Brompton Cocktail is another excellent song from self titled too. My ranking would be 7. Seventh trumpet 6. Hail to the king 5. The stage 4. Nightmare 3. Self titled 2. Waking the fallen 1. City of evil
Despite what you said about dear god, I agree with you on the self titled. Critical acclaim isn’t as good as the live in the lbc version, I don’t care much for scream and lost is overhated.
7. Stst (alright) 6. Hail to the king (great but not as) 5. The stage (great but not as) 4. Waking the fallen (great classic) 3. Nightmare (classic) 2. A7x (underrated, most consistent album) 1. City or evil (the best of the best)
7. Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet (5/10) 6. The Stage (6/10) 5. Hail to the King (6/10) 4. Waking the Fallen (7.5/10) 3. City of Evil (8/10) 2. Avenged Sevenfold (9/10) 1. Nightmare (9/10)
My ranking would be 7. Sounding the seventh trumpet (I think everyone has this album here) 6. Self titled (I really do think this is a overrated album) 5. Hail to the king 4. Walking the fallen 3. Nightmare 2. The stage 1. City of evil
@@pairofjeansreviews2034 yeah I really don't get why people like this album so much I liked only 4 songs off of this album (critical acclaim, almost easy, Brampton cocktail and ALPOH) every thing else on this album feels boring and forced I really don't understand why people seems to love afterlife so much the only thing I liked on that track was the rev everything else was just mediocre I get that they were trying to be experimental here and I don't think its fair to say they threw in the towel here I can tell that they are trying really hard to make this record work but they just couldn't make it work so basically instead of feeling like images and words or scenes from a memory it feels like the astonishing instead not a bad album not a good album ether but I can see what they were going for its just an album that you will never catch me listening to
Avenged Sevenfold definitely is a band that I loved way more as a teen. I am somewhat mixed now on them and their discography I don’t like Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet, Hail to the King, and Waking the Fallen but the rest I liked. 7 Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet 6 Hail to the King (Planets, Shepherd of fire are good though) 5 Waking the Fallen 4 City of Evil (I can agree that this is a frustrating record but it’s good) 3 The Stage 2 Nightmare 1 Self Titled
@@pairofjeansreviews2034 A Little Piece of Heaven is my all time favorite track of A7X. Plus the Stage album reminded me so much of A7X mixed with Between the Buried and Me, and Dream Theater (Portnoy must have really inspired them)

Hail To The King is a good song but the full album isn't one of their best. Nightmare is their best album bands down imo.
in nightmare, id say about 90% of. the drum work is from the rev. portnoy came in and finished the fills on the hats and cymbals
It’s very impressive how seamlessly they blended it all together!
