I love your videos Josh! I find it hilarious as CEOs grasp for reasons why returning to the office is a good thing. One of the teams in the company I used to work for would meet in a newly created employee space (pre-COVID) and stand in a circle for a morning team eye-opener/meeting/pick-me-up/who knows). One of the members of the team noted how long just walking there, assembling into a circle and chatting took vs just having a call. 🤦🏼
I know you really really do not like offices but I think working there is not contrary to your philosophy of separating work and private life. For me personally I find it easier to concentrate in a separate space frome home and can easier shut work out if I leave the building. Where as with WFH a lot of people tend to actually work longer than in the office. Of course commuting sucks but it is also nice if you have a separate space for work and your home is only for private matters. Also a lot of people do not have that much space at home as suburban Americans. I still think however there should be an option for all people. Sometimes you gotta watch the kids, something else comes up or some people just do now want to work at the office and thats fine too.
I've never worked in an office, but it reminds me of school if it was ran by the suck ups, and is very totalitarian. Why couldn't they let socializing be optional?
I just started working a remote job about a month ago. Understandably, I haven't been doing this for long but I have absolutely no interest in working inside an office. As a self-taught developer, I thrive working alone just like I did the 2 prior year's coding for free.
I’m 58 and never bought into the corporate culture cringe crap. It’s all a game of cringe and who’s better than who along with backstabbing and fake friends. I refuse to lower myself to this type of behavior. Glad you outing all this behavior as abnormal because it is. We are better than this.
If its not utterly necessary to have the person present in office to do his "work", just dont call to office. Why is it soooo hard to understand that nobody likes wasting hours to arrive at office or meet unnecessary people in uncomfortable chair n table when i can just turn on the Laptop and start my work!
*Sigh I agree. They need to stop calling this family. It is not. I've had places try to use that "family" mantra up until I start talking raises or refusing to work on extra projects I'm not getting paid for. Um, that long "pizza powwow" (old name for a meeting where I worked over a decade ago) took most of the day, and now you want me to do the work I missed due to a required meeting that had nothing to do with me. But I had to go. And you want me to make up the work on my time? What? Plus, the moment you hit hard times or are dismissed, most of those people are never going to talk to you again. Well, if you come from a dysfunctional family like mine, then I guess it would be more like a family (just an unhealthy one). There is nothing wrong with working a job and then going home free of those obligations or interactions. We don't live to work (we're not minions). We work to live (because well all have bills to pay). That is why I hate interview questions like, "Why do you want to work here?" Um, because it is a job that fits my skills and pay requirements. Which we all know is the wrong answer. They wanna hear something bubbly and fun. Oh, and Cathy (or whatever her name is), I'm lactose intolerant.
Come on Josh, you can't just work all the time and take no breaks, you will go postal. But coming to the office is a perfect way to take a break from doing actual work and to socialize: you just come to the office talk t̶o̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶l̶i̶t̶t̶l̶e̶ ̶d̶r̶o̶o̶g̶i̶e̶s̶ to your colleagues, drink tea or coffee, talk about what's going on in the company... Then you pretend that you do some work, and go home. And remember, you will be paid for that! The only thing is that coming to the office should be a) made voluntary, and b) infrequent -- perhaps 1 or 2 times a month is enough. Otherwise there will be no progress in the actual work that needs to be done.

Best I do is keep this stuff, and employee monitoring, limited internally. Keeping work as work and giving more money to employees instead.
Man how happy I am I don't work at a company like this any more. I used to work form 2013 to 2018 at such a company. These Karen's are even worse than boomer bosses
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo true
I love your videos Josh! I find it hilarious as CEOs grasp for reasons why returning to the office is a good thing. One of the teams in the company I used to work for would meet in a newly created employee space (pre-COVID) and stand in a circle for a morning team eye-opener/meeting/pick-me-up/who knows). One of the members of the team noted how long just walking there, assembling into a circle and chatting took vs just having a call. 🤦🏼
That "Welcome back, Connection" bit has less energy than me after a gruelling monday night shift at the warehouse.
Good bro we need people like you otherwise people die working without clarity for what they are doing.
Ramsey's company at least pays location. What is going to blow up is companies that do not pay relocation and also expect people to notvwirk remote.
If you are not actively resisting you deserve it.
Quit your job, escape the corporate bullshit. It's you short life time that it's at stake. Love your life how you feel you should!
Connection looks like a giant warehouse of cubicles.
I'm glad I work nights. No CEO is going to hang out at 7 pm at the office
I'll be working remote forever. If they make me come back I'm quitting.
Content request. How about employee engagement surveys?
Oh shit
That's right down my street
I've never worked in an office, but it reminds me of school if it was ran by the suck ups, and is very totalitarian. Why couldn't they let socializing be optional?
This this a young Bill Burr in the making. Great videos bro!!
I just started working a remote job about a month ago. Understandably, I haven't been doing this for long but I have absolutely no interest in working inside an office. As a self-taught developer, I thrive working alone just like I did the 2 prior year's coding for free.
Why would you code for free?
Gotta learn somehow. I learned on my own. Didn't spend any money but also didn't make money doing it.
Imagine being lactose intolerant.
I’m 58 and never bought into the corporate culture cringe crap. It’s all a game of cringe and who’s better than who along with backstabbing and fake friends. I refuse to lower myself to this type of behavior. Glad you outing all this behavior as abnormal because it is. We are better than this.
I've been applying to remote only positions in anticipation of return to office. Reject the bullshit.
2:57 the Boomer😂
After a year working remote, this is depressing to watch lol 👏
my work policy = work from home forever
“This screams good old boys” SPOT ON!!
These videos are the best! I could never explain my experiences in the office better than this. So good! 😂
