I am a Catholic priest. I also thought that God is always silent. However, I came to realize that God is a loving chatterbox. This realization came after I opened the Bible

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.

Ah, your timing is perfect. I had a horrible, burning skin sensation last night. I applied a topical cream that gave a few moments of relief….then more pain…..more lotion applied….and yet more pain. Unbearable. I prayed over and over for mercy. 🙏🏻 Pain was overwhelming. And then…..that still small voice… “might be your reaction to the pain-killing cream”. YES. Washed that off and had immediate relief and the ability to sleep. All prayers are answered, tho often not as we expect. Prayers of gratitude to our Lord and Savior. ❤❤. Stillness is a wonderful thing!

How much this is underrated can't be emphasized enough!
We pray to God for discernment, help with decisions, knowing what to do and how to act, and yet we don't allow the space for answers in silence.
God speaks calmly, yet relentlessly. If you want to know if what you hear is His voice or your own, try to argue with it.
If it talks back, rationalizes, tries to justify itself, gives you 'shoulds', try to talk you into doing what it's telling you to do, it's just your own limited self speaking. God doesn't need to argue, or to justify Himself. He presents Himself as a gift; you take it or leave it. Obey it or not. It's up to you.
It's a skill you develop, in a way. And the more I develop it and learn to trust that voice that's not mine, the better my life becomes, even if at first the thing it's telling me to do seems 'irrational', 'unfun', or 'impractical'.
That voice told me to start going to the church and praying everyday, even though there was nothing 'rational' about it at the time. I was an atheist. Yet, I heard it for years, a little whisper at the back of my mind. Never forceful. Until one day I decided to follow it and my life was transformed.
It told me to follow a specific career path and start a specific type of side project.
It told me to date and invest in a specific person that is now my girlfriend. In fact, she told me she also wanted to join the church when I told her I wanted to go, and that she'd had that wish for years (just like me). I didn't know that when we started dating, but God knew, and I just followed.
Every time I followed that voice of His, it's been to my benefit, and to the benefit of people around me.
Every time I ignored it and decided I knew best, it's been to my own demise.

This comment isn’t meant to draw attention to myself ~ 2 years ago I was called to a life of prayer. As time went by the noise became very unwanted. The damage the noise does to our brains is massive. Now I’m much more selective of the things I allow into my life, what I allow myself to see and hear. I’m also much more caring in conversations and attention to people. My ears work better thanks be to God. Again, not about me, just sharing testimony to support the video. God is good at what he does and silencing a person is his bandaid for sure.
Just dive right in would be my advice. It will become an everyday thing. It’s shocking how much God is listening and caring and smiling at our thoughts.
Thank you for the video Father. Praise God.

In 1964, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel released the song, The Sound of Silence. When asked in a CBC interview, “What IS the sound of silence?”, Paul Simon answered that, “It’s all the words we leave unsaid”. Things we wish we would’ve said. Words like, ‘Hey, you know what I mean’ or ‘Ditto!’ (Ghost 1990).
Sometimes, we don’t have to say the words. Sometimes, we wish we did say them. Sometimes, in silence, we hear the Word. It’s when we open our hearts and bare our souls to the Lord, offer up all that you are, all that you feel, and allow His infinite love and grace to fill you up, do you hear His Word. Only in the sound of silence when we close out the outside noise of our lives can we hear Him.
That’s just my opinion. What are your thoughts?
    Spot on? Spot off?
Hit the gas? Pump the brakes?

    • @BitsyBee
      @BitsyBee 11 месяцев назад

Well...I think these "scheduled" prayer times/silence is what he's asking of us...Remember, Ascension's original audience was students and single people, some discerning religious life, not adults with families or full time work. If you are devoted to a prayer schedule, you're advancing in the spiritual life, you're way ahead! God bless you in this!

It is true that all of us need a balance in life between business and time for silence and reflection. If we do not enjoy enough silent time in prayer then our time with others in recreation being called ahead of time what we call a treat reward might start feeling less and less fulfilling. Like when out on a Kareoke night with friends when hearing a couple one with the mike get to sing that one one line from a song written by Stevie Wonder which says, "Superstition is not THE WAY." Stevie Wonder who was clever in how he managed to slip in a little gospel in often in his lyrics along with his so called by some all the time only noise.

Idk if this Brother was the one who said it, but we're such a society of needing to consume something all the time...which I'm of course guilty of as well.

Recently like last week I realized that he has been reaching out to me and I've been rejecting it every time. It's very easy to ignore God especially when committing sin, it makes it easier to sin when you try to block out of you head that there is a hand leading you the other way. You should try doing some sort of examination of what you are doing when you sin, what you were doing beforehand, how you felt after, and anything during any of those times that was calling you to stop the sin and come back to Him, any sort of sign. Be strong brother.

WHY DID JESUS SAY “AND THIS IS LIFE ETERNAL?” (JOHN 17:3)
MOST PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD DO NOT KNOW THE TRUE REASON JESUS CAME DOWN TO EARTH. HE CAME TO DECLARE THE FATHER’S WILL, POWER, SPIRIT, AND TESTIMONY (JOHN 1:18, MATTHEW 11:27). ONLY THOSE WHO HEAR AND DO THE WILL OF GOD BELONG TO GOD. JESUS SAID HIS WORDS WILL NEVER PASS AWAY (MATTHEW 24:35). WE MUST KNOW THEM BOTH IF WE ARE TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE (JOHN 17:3). IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE FATHER, JESUS WILL DENY YOU ENTRY WHEN HE SAYS, “DEPART FROM ME, I NEVER KNEW YOU” (MATTHEW 7:23).
