There is actually a setting that lets you reduce CPU and GPU overhead, it also reduces temps of both substantially as the workload on them is lower. If you look where it says uninstall and follow the instructions and confirm, It should fix it right up. Some go the extra mile and request refund, though not sure how beneficial that option is for each person.
Great news for anybody who still cares about the game, or is just late to the party, like me: update 2.0.0 brought us the Vulkan version of the game (GRB_vulkan.exe). The performance gain is massive. Using a DX11 version and the HUB Quality preset, I was only getting 56 FPS minimum and 81 FPS average in the benchmark, and dips as low as 47 FPS in real conditions. Couldn’t say it was comfortable to play. Very inconsistent. Then I switched to Vulkan and now it’s 98 FPS average, 60 minimum, 54 FPS absolute worst dip. CPU usage went down in many scenarios. GPU load evened out. Hardware: Core i7-3770k, GTX 1080 Ti.
@@x_yzk Stutters or dips could be caused by Resizable BAR. Last time I tried running the built-in benchmark on my AMD GPU+CPU machine with ReBAR = On, I was getting horrible stutter. With ReBAR = Off, everything was fine.
I have my game configured to run at over 100 fps at 1440p in the forest (using 80% resolution scaling) so when you fight in the busy populated areas, the fps drops don't go below 60. This is especially noticeable when zooming in and out with a sniper scope in populated areas. The fps spikes when zooming in to snipe someone quickly were really frustrating.
I got my perfect settings from this video. Here: Texutre: Ultra Ambient Occlusion: Very High Level Of Detail: Very High Terrain Quality: High Grass Quality: High Screen Space Reflections: Medium Sun Shadows: Medium Cloth Simulation: Medium Long Range Shadows: Low Volumetric Fog: Low
Without a shadow of doubt, Tim's game setting guides and Steve's benchmarking marathon tests are what makes this channel the best tech youtube channel bar none.
Excellent, have been playing this for a few days and was hoping Tim would make one of these :-) One thing I noticed is that with my specific hardware and settings (Ryzen 5 1600 @3.9GHz, GTX 1070 Ti, 3440x1440, medium settings, 80% render scale) I lost 4.5 FPS average in the built in benchmark (from 89 to 84.5) by switching to the newest Nvidia drivers which were supposed to be optimized for this game. Edit: I can't comment on the story missions, but the side missions are happily occupying my time in game.
Is there any Graphics improvement between the beta compared to the final release? Because if there isn't, IMO this game is one of the most terrible graphics implementation in years. Bad textures, poor animations, awkward water simulation and the list goes on. I really hope to be surprised when I run this final version of the game, but, today, I really doubt that the graphics fidelity you've mencioned is really that "amazing"
I agree I though that it looked like a graphics downgrade from wildlands which was shocking to me and the bugs I ran into were egregious I couldn't believe Ubisoft didn't notice the motorcycles floating above the ground of running into invisible walls idk im pretty disappointed in breakpoint honestly
You guys probably played on 1080p medium - high settings, try it on 1440p - 4k on ultra settings, this game is prettiest. Try Texture quality to Ultra. But I gotta agree driving is pretty lame and glitched, I mentioned that in their feedback survey after playing beta, wheels of two wheelers are like ship floating on road, it's actually funny lmao I laughed so hard when I first saw it on beta, otherwise game is amazing and graphics too are best.
If I remember correctly GRW also was broken, now it runs fine on much more powerful hardware but back then the performance was bad and that with non-impressive graphics in my opinion. ACO looks good but despite that it would run a lot better if Ubisoft would optimize better, like using Vulkan.
I actually think peoples opinion on what optimized is has changed over the years. AC Syndicate could barely do 4K30 on the then flagship 980ti, yet the launch of AC Odyssey you could do 4K60 on a 2080ti. Surprisingly the opinion is stronger (or certainly appears louder to someone who frequents various gaming and tech forums) that Odyssey is worse performing vs Syndicate. This video is even titled as such to suggest that Ubisoft is just rubbish with “another Ubisoft fail?”, admittedly, like the last ghost recon, performance in this title is choppy - and for how nice it looks in places, it looks very rough in others. Having said that, other than ghost recon, Ive had a good experience with Ubisoft titles, both Watch dogs I could play at launch at my native res while holding 60fps on a single card (2560*1600, and 4K respectively), The division 2 also runs well for the visuals on offer.
@@utubby3730 Not to mention AC3 and AC4 which literally were unplayable with an AMD-GPU outside the consoles for months after its release. With an HD 7850 and i5-750 I couldn't play AC Revelations without stutter caused by the Nvidia smoke. The same for Far Cry 4, I first had to clear all the enemy camps and then the stutter would disappear and I could play the game in the ordinary way until the second part of the game started. I don't think that games were poorly optimized in general, Ubisoft was even worse at it and of course there were some other big issues like forced VSync (LA Noire, Mass Effect, Wolfenstein TNO) and the game breaking if you disabled it via a configuration file, or the lack of any proper AA (I don't consider FXAA a.k.a. vaseline on the lens to be an acceptable AA) in any game which uses the Unreal 3 engine. I do agree that these days gamers are less patient with games not performing well. We don't tolerate
Just putting it out there as a follow up. While I have been having a fine time with ghost recon, 4K 2080ti Ultra preset with Ultimate texture detail (typically in the 60s, capped at 85 which it hits in low draw scenes), my bf has been having a terrible time on 4K 1080ti with HUB performance settings, generally 26-30FPS!! Which would mean my setup is performing considerable over twice as well, on a card that is generally closer to just 1/3 more performance :s
While the game is not for me, and RUclips is the only place I'm apt to see it, I was surprised by your praise for the foliage. Every video I've watched makes the leaves, grass, whatnot foliage look completely 2 dimensional--as if it were made from thin notebook paper with no depth. Seeing it in person likely makes it look better, but it doesn't translate to RUclips videos here in 1080p-land. :-P Thanks for other game setting guide. What you each us about quality settings does translate to other games. :-)
Awesome stuff! I hope they put in another optimization patch during the first week of release because anyone running a 4 core cpu will get taxed big time. Seeing 4 core cpus hitting 100% during gameplay is crazy. However been playing early-access and enjoying it a lot. Lots of things to do in comparison to Wildlands and PvP is already available. Beautiful game but hate seeing those frames drop especially with OBS running in the background. Thanks again for any awesome upload!
Basically, if you like Division 2 and Far Cry 5, you will like this. It's less like GRW than it is similar to the other two. It uses the item score system from Division 2s end game, and you don't get an NPC squad to order around so solo it feels like Far Cry. There are fewer "hide on a hill and snipe" places, and you are always needing to watch the skies for drones, so the overall feel is not very much like GRW. As far as the store goes, apparently the people making fun of it haven't played the game. It's basically a cheat store, letting you get the blueprints for the items in the game up front rather than hunting through the game for them. If that's appealing to you you can use it, or you can ignore it and the only thing you will miss out on is a few cosmetic items.
Currently watching this at 1080p60, and the video looks horrible. Did youtube butcher the quality or is it just me? Edit: Driving parts from 1:20 to 1:50 in particular.
With my 9700k my CPU is usually sitting between 90% - 100% usage and getting some major stuttering issues. I'm running at 1440p with a GTX 1080 Ti. Going to be trying the chipset update and settings performance mode to high performance. Hopefully that'll do the trick. We thank you for all the work you guys do. Keep up the great work.
For reflections i would recommend very high, high has too much noise, this will be very noticeable on wet roads and inside buildings with reflective floors. As for volumetric fog, I wouldn’t settle for anything less than ultra, very high and below has too much dither and breakups, hell even ultra sometimes show these artifacts.
The guy behind the special K performance mod said that the problem with those AnvilNext titles is that the resource allocation and asset streaming is a complete mess on Windows which is why they have crappy performance. He fixed it with Odyssey, tough I don't think he's even going to touch breakpoint given its reception.
How adorable, you guys are so proud of your little mug. They remind me of the game Prey, little black sludge creatures secretly transform into random inanimate objects like coffee mugs. And I think the coffee mug in the game looks similar to yours!
The launch build can beta is optimized noticeably and the Nvidia drivers that last came out both make 60fps 4k max settings possible. Even during the most intense 1% scenes I’ll see lows of 55, 60 constant everywhere else.
The intresting thing is that Terrain Quality also improves resolution of terrain textures. Another thing GDDR6 is better in loading textures than GDDR5. My 1070 GTX have a huge problem in loading maxed quality Terrain Quality when scale resolution is set more than 160 % in 1080p (it's about 1620p). I cant se that problem in 2060 Super or 2070 RTX when memory is maxed. Yeah I know these cards also much faster.
Does anyone know if this weird skippy frame rate is ever going to go away? I'm not just talking about the microstutter (that's also a problem), I am also referring to this weird skip that comes up every few feet you travel or every few seconds you stand still and pan around, its relentless. its in the game no matter what your setup or what your in game presets are. Has anyone found a solution for this? Ive searched everywhere.. IT RUINS THE GAME FOR ME, CONSTANTLY BREAKING THE FLOW OF MOVEMENT. Performance is not the issue: -1TB 970 EVO M.2 -AORUS MASTER Z390 -I9900K (OC at 5.0GHz) -32GB of RAM (4X8) at 3600Hz (CAS 14-15-15-35) -RTX 2080 TI (OC 11GB ROG STRIX)
No point using temporal injection as it forces TAA on i think. I want no blurry AA. 4k at 27" looks great on the beta i certainly don't want to blur all the detailed tree leaves and branches like this AA does even with fidelity FX on, still blurry. Why can't they seperate temporal injection from the AA setting, so stupid.
@El diablo da Costa Sorry, I'm gaming at 3440x1440p. It's very hard to run anything satisfactorily at that rez, unless you make tons of concessions in graphics fidelity.
What this video is missing is the fact that the game is extremely hungry for VRAM. 4K, especially on Vulkan is a no go for an 8GB VRAM GPU. Ultimately, I had to use 2.25x DLDSR (2880x1620), paired with some reduced options, like Terrain Quality, which I put on Very High.
@@GrindingMadness I don't know what you mean, but my point still stands. The video gives 0 info about VRAM and Vulkan in this game has issues with VRAM.
@KillianStar try looking at your settings in the game. Do you see the vram bar. Every time you increase the graphics the bar goes higher. In this case it means more vram usage. In other words, you have to tinker around till you find your sweet spot. As you've mentioned running the game in 4k on a 8GB card. Ultra settings can and will hurt your card. Worst case scenario I'd be upgrading the card to 16 Gb minium to utilize 4k.
@@GrindingMadness I have tested this game extensively under different settings and resolutions. Staying in the "green" zone does absolutely nothing with Vulkan. You will run out of video memory either way, because for some reason it "thinks" you have 9GB of VRAM card instead of 8GB. DX11 does not have these issues, but its performance it absolutely abysmal. It works like 30% worse than Vulkan.
i was playing with ultra settings (rtx 2060, 16gb ram 8x2, i7 9thgen) during beta and i got around 60fps, when the full game released i used ultra settings i got around 40fps wtf ubisoft

the sad realization that crysis is still great looking and isn't a resource hog compared to the same level (sometimes a step backwards) of visual looks in games that are out today. (with gta and fallout 4 and just about every other game looking like rubber toys)... oobisoft will forever be a fail.
I doubt this game move the bar any further than what they accomplished in The Division 2, and that is really buggy. I had to disable all GPU / CPU optimizations to keep the game from crashing so much in DX12 in FreeSync / Enhanced Sync.
@@saiprasad8078 a capture card records the frames it gets unprocessed. which of course includes any out of sync frames. so a capture card is nothing else than a monitor that has no panel but records its output without doing sync. i.e. the capture card is not part of the frame generation process.
@@saiprasad8078 I would say the capture card, or screen recorder if they use that, records at a fixed framerate, because it's supposed to be played back at this framerate (so probably 60FPS). Hello there, I just bought TUF B450 Pro Gaming+R5 3600 combo for 350$(taxes included). This mobo has 10 phase VRM but I'm not familiar with the in-depth technicality of VRM mechanics I just thought 10 phase VRM mobo would be sufficient for R5 3600, so it'd be great if you can make another review on asus's b450 gaming models, as this particular one was released after Gaming Plus model, which uses 6 phase VRM. My question is what is the sweet spot of overclocking on R5 3600? I think I got a decent sillicon lottery and this one I have pushes to all-core 4175-4200 mHz at stock, also on single core I can get up to 4400 mHz with PBO. I'm a competetive dota 2 player and its really crucial for me to get 150+ fps all the time as the input lag is very imperative and every single fps counts. And although I get 4325 mHz with PBO during gameplay, I sometimes see my rx 570 being bottlenecked by 10 to 15% percent at single core dependant moments(intense actions in gameplay), as dota 2 is a highly cpu demanding game. And with all the umpteen attempts of overclocking, I finally managed to get my 3600 stable at 1.5V 4375 mHz, I plan to use this cpu for at least 2-3 years, is 1.5V too much for it? And what is the actual sweet spot of oc would you recommend? Thanks in advance, Kind Regards.
or.. buy the game because its fun and dont buy the MTX? No one puts a gun to your head and tells you to buy them, imo youd have to be an idiot to pay for the upgrades because getting upgrade materials is as easy as anything

DeadPhoenix86 And I loved Wildlands and have nearly 230 hours in it, it’s one of my favourite games of the last few years along side AC Odyssey and the Witcher 3. I feel like we’ve reached the core of the issue here lol Of course if you disliked Wildlands your going to dislike breakpoint
I played the beta on i7 6700k(4,4GHz) 16GB DDR4-3200 and Gigabyte 1070 on full HD (asus 144Hz mointor). I can not recall my settings out of my head but the performance was OK, the only problem I encountered was: I don't like the game although I had some hopes it would draw me away from BF. I want my Battlefield 4 Fun back, c'mon Softwaredevs, do something!
The amount of information here is great, but the presentation is underwhelming to me. When you're going through 6 presets in quick succession and I don't know what I'm looking for, they all look the same. Ultimate -> ultra -> very high -> high -> medium -> low in about 10 seconds leads to the viewer readjusting all the time and not actually seeing what you're on about. Perhaps some side by side low/high/ultimate with mention of what specifically the difference is?
Which are the best settings for Laptop ASUS Rog Strix i7 8750H ( with undervolt -0.140 mV) + GTX 1060 6GB 8GB DDR4 (with undervolt + high clock ~1850 MHz at low voltage) and battery on Best performance mode?
Hey HUB, in your opinion, should Ubisoft abandon the Anvil 2.0 engine and move to the Snowdrop Engine used in The Division 2? I feel like that's Ubisoft's Frostbite. Would visual quality be comparable or better with it instead of Anvil 2.0? And would performance be better?
No ***INPUT LATENCY*** testing for this game? Any plans for that? And keep it up, always informative for those who don't do that kind of optimization by themselves ( something I did for 20 years now ). Cheers! :)
From the alpha and beta i was able to run this game in high graphics at 60+ fps with a browser up and playing videos on a second monitor, now for some reason it eats my vram and struggles at the lowest possible settings and has a fit if there's anything at all on a second monitor, i can't take "oh well you have full access to the island now" as an excuse, in the beta you had access to 4-5 large provinces, somethings gone wrong.
Good to know. If I want to play the game I just downloaded but haven’t played yet on my new midish/high end system I’ll have to choose high or very high to get even decent FPS at 1080p. If I wanted to play it at 4K on my tv I’d need a 10988000xe with 8x nvlink rtx 8000 under ln2 with one of those thousand dollar hdmi cables Linus reviewed.
I can remember 10-15 years ago, when a new, highly anticipated game was due for release, it was an occasion to rejoice, the buzz, the shear excitement that within a few hours you would be immersed in a whole new world. These days, i can hardly be bothered, you just know its a 70/30 chance its gonna suck in every department. This genre is just a host, nothing more.
that game...ive rarely had problems with higher graphic games but then came ghost recon breakpoint and im sitting with the lowest of the lowest resolution and settings...with 22 fps standing still and that drops to 10 when fighting...when moving 15...
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint? Eh....id say: Ubisoft's Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Ambient Occulsion....so thats the ghosting I see something FIERCE in Deadside. I run a Reshade preset and I can see the ghosting around my character really bad and was wondering what that was.....
I also had the game on the ps4 and on the xbox one, And one time I could play a whole evening and the other day it also bothered me, For example when I flew in a helicopter to a mission, But it also did is during freeroming, and the sound was gone, Grt from Holland :)
Less than 4 hours played and I'm all ready constantly having to go to menu and back to clear out this bug that makes the whole foreground pitch black. Anyone have this issue? I'm also getting really funky purples and blues in the shadows a lot of the time. CPU/GPU isn't even close to being stressed as I turned most settings down to med/high
This one is coming in HOT so it's still in 1080p, hopefully it hits 4K soon for that sweet crisp footage

So Use Vulkan Instead of DX11? FPS are Fine but those Stutters or Dips are horrible
@@x_yzk Stutters or dips could be caused by Resizable BAR. Last time I tried running the built-in benchmark on my AMD GPU+CPU machine with ReBAR = On, I was getting horrible stutter. With ReBAR = Off, everything was fine.
@@YevgeniyBoreesov Im Having AMD too, thank u so much for respond, How to please make ReBar Off? Cant see it ingame please could You help me?:(
@@x_yzk Since it’s a low-level hardware thing, it can usually be turned on and off in the motherboard’s UEFI BIOS setup.

Ubisoft optimized monetization by 600%!
The structure of these performance videos are near perfection, thank you :)
Here:
Texutre: Ultra
Ambient Occlusion: Very High
Level Of Detail: Very High
Terrain Quality: High
Grass Quality: High
Screen Space Reflections: Medium
Sun Shadows: Medium
Cloth Simulation: Medium
Long Range Shadows: Low
Volumetric Fog: Low

Without a shadow of doubt, Tim's game setting guides and Steve's benchmarking marathon tests are what makes this channel the best tech youtube channel bar none.
what do you know? micro transaction works as expected- ubisoft
Excellent, have been playing this for a few days and was hoping Tim would make one of these :-)
One thing I noticed is that with my specific hardware and settings (Ryzen 5 1600 @3.9GHz, GTX 1070 Ti, 3440x1440, medium settings, 80% render scale) I lost 4.5 FPS average in the built in benchmark (from 89 to 84.5) by switching to the newest Nvidia drivers which were supposed to be optimized for this game.
Edit: I can't comment on the story missions, but the side missions are happily occupying my time in game.
What is the performance gain from using a HUB mug?
About +30% sips per second versus a traditional mug

This is a great channel, I cannot wait for a hopeful video on Starfield optimization/performance, truly!!!
I impressive how bad animation are... this "wind" is so bad I would disable it always, people are blind in current times.
@@utubby3730
Not to mention AC3 and AC4 which literally were unplayable with an AMD-GPU outside the consoles for months after its release.
Edit:
Driving parts from 1:20 to 1:50 in particular.
The tires on that car in the beginning of the video didn't look like they were moving at all 😂😂
The grass moving looks like its dancing, that doesn't look like wind >___>
With my 9700k my CPU is usually sitting between 90% - 100% usage and getting some major stuttering issues. I'm running at 1440p with a GTX 1080 Ti. Going to be trying the chipset update and settings performance mode to high performance. Hopefully that'll do the trick. We thank you for all the work you guys do. Keep up the great work.
For reflections i would recommend very high, high has too much noise, this will be very noticeable on wet roads and inside buildings with reflective floors. As for volumetric fog, I wouldn’t settle for anything less than ultra, very high and below has too much dither and breakups, hell even ultra sometimes show these artifacts.
why would you want fog to be that high when there is no degrade in visual quality while having huge impact on performance.
Shadows just pop in....just like the AC games....very distracting
And further textures in the distance look like a blurry mess, esp. mountains etc.
No one complains about shilling as long as you shill yourself, keep up the good work
The guy behind the special K performance mod said that the problem with those AnvilNext titles is that the resource allocation and asset streaming is a complete mess on Windows which is why they have crappy performance. He fixed it with Odyssey, tough I don't think he's even going to touch breakpoint given its reception.
Loving these performance optimization videos! Keep'em coming!^^
How adorable, you guys are so proud of your little mug. They remind me of the game Prey, little black sludge creatures secretly transform into random inanimate objects like coffee mugs. And I think the coffee mug in the game looks similar to yours!
you guys need to do more optimization guides it's the most useful and "free" for people to do.
changing the resolution scale to around 90 will give u a huge fps boost with minimal loss in details
The launch build can beta is optimized noticeably and the Nvidia drivers that last came out both make 60fps 4k max settings possible. Even during the most intense 1% scenes I’ll see lows of 55, 60 constant everywhere else.
Boost performance by 9000% by not buying this disgrace of a game.
- Performance optimization: failed
- Microtransaction optimization: successful
my rx5700xt only runs it at 55-65 fps on no matter what graphics settings I choose.
Performance is not the issue:
-1TB 970 EVO M.2
-AORUS MASTER Z390
-I9900K (OC at 5.0GHz)
-32GB of RAM (4X8) at 3600Hz (CAS 14-15-15-35)
-RTX 2080 TI (OC 11GB ROG STRIX)
Same issue

No point using temporal injection as it forces TAA on i think. I want no blurry AA. 4k at 27" looks great on the beta i certainly don't want to blur all the detailed tree leaves and branches like this AA does even with fidelity FX on, still blurry. Why can't they seperate temporal injection from the AA setting, so stupid.
Yeah I've only been getting 45fps with the tweaks here on my r7 2700 rx580 machine, this game runs like balls.
You know darn well there is no coffee or water in that cup.....
I skipped the Xbox One/PS4 generation because Motion Blur & Bloom got so out of hand during the previous [Xbox 360/PS3] generation.
I guess a 7700K and a 1080Ti is just middle of the road these days. Thanks for the amazing breakdown
You've just answered why as to the game didn't run to well on your specs....
Boost fps - buy the $20 fps booster add on pack complete with 2 skins, dog and 1 sight
I like a video that explains all these setting, what are they?, how do they work?, what do they do?,etc, etc. I did like this video though. 🤪
Great video, u guys r starting to be my favorite youtube channel....... Keep up the great work.
Are the full release graphics better than the open beta? Not sure if they cut out some presentation from the beta typically.
i was playing with ultra settings (rtx 2060, 16gb ram 8x2, i7 9thgen) during beta and i got around 60fps, when the full game released i used ultra settings i got around 40fps wtf ubisoft
I have nearly the same specs... only have a better gpu a 2070s. I just downloaded Wildlands. Got between 20 - 30 - 40 - 50 fps. I turned alle the settings down to the lowest. Nothing changed
the sad realization that crysis is still great looking and isn't a resource hog compared to the same level (sometimes a step backwards) of visual looks in games that are out today.
How is vsync tearing visible on the recording --- can you please tell me ?
capture card.
@@baumstamp5989 is not tearing the difference between panel and GPU sync ? How can a card capture it ?
@@saiprasad8078 a capture card records the frames it gets unprocessed. which of course includes any out of sync frames.
so a capture card is nothing else than a monitor that has no panel but records its output without doing sync.
i.e. the capture card is not part of the frame generation process.
@@saiprasad8078 I would say the capture card, or screen recorder if they use that, records at a fixed framerate, because it's supposed to be played back at this framerate (so probably 60FPS). Thus like with a screen, the GPU may not have finished a frame when it's recorded by the capture card/screen recorder. The framebuffer will have the tearing between the previous and current frame
Or don't buy this game at all. Its full MTX !!!
