thank you for the video, this is one of the shots that I struggle with, I normally put too much wrist or instead of rolling I flat hit it, I'll try your technique since as all of your videos, looks very accessible and easy to understand. By the way, when you were showing the shot at the end, you could had made your partner send you slightly more quality balls, with a bounce as high and spinless as that, instead of flicking I'd flat hit it 😉.

Haha yeah it was the camera guy for me. He doesn’t really play tt so it was always going to be a challenge. But yeah go for the flat hit so you do not over complicate your technique. As well as gain some confidence in the fact that you can get the ball over the net and potentially onto the table :)

@@DublinTableTennisClub how do you receive an underspin server using the BH flick?
With that technique :) use your wrist more by bringing the tip of your racket down / more inwards in you. Your elbow will go forwards to the net.
As you about to connect with the ball. Flick / follow with your wrist to the ball. The connection shape of your hand should be that of a backhand drive. So normal standard sideways. As you connect, follow through up pointing the bat forwards above the net.

The channel is just vocabulary / wording to a situation where the ball lands on the table. Your racket should be parallel/ within the channel of the hall so you can the best contact :)

Yes it does and that is the beauty of it being done this way. You providing as much service area of contact for the ball will give you the best probability chances to COUNTER spin any ball that comes from your opponent :)

That really depends is for extreme level of spin coming from your opponent and more an advance move to use as it you need more elbow approach.

Wait for the ball to hit it’s highest peak and go for it!! The arm momentum will be plenty enough to go forward and over the net!!

What is channel?
I refer it as “channel” because it’s easier to teach where the racket needs to be when making contact :)
If you read the channel perfect then even if the ball hits the net / edge, you will still have a good chance to recover it :)
@@DublinTableTennisClub I would like to learn more about channel. Sounds like something very useful. I am being trained for 3 years once per week starting from beginner level. Never heard about channel :(
“Channel” is my terminology word I like to use to simplify the “forehand technique”
Because players usually over think about different forehand technique, but it shouldn’t be. If you identify where the ball lands on the table then you identify what technique to use.
I like to think backwards for attacks.
1.) Figure out ball placement on your side / see if you can make contact at highest peak or above the net so you can attack.
2.)If you can’t connect at that point and then it means you do a defensive move / defence attack move
And that’s it :) simplified and easy to follow! No rushing and no stress!!

interesting, but during the démonstration you never go backward to come forward on the next ball. It's not the better example for beginners who have difficulties to move.
Yes true and in person I would sure teach that. In a video I did decide to edit the footwork out and not focus so much on it because it be too much information. I have shown what to do in different videos including advance version of this technique :)
