We need Prototype 3... It can easily compete with other superhero titles if it's handled as a full AAA release.
YEEEES
Yes
If only
Yooo someone remembered
Agree!
I appreciate you guys making an effort to make these lists varied and don't only pick the most popular things
Thanks
and also spam out the easiest something to fill the 8 minute quota
I am so glad Just Cause is here, those games really are something else
👍🏼👌
Me too, I love all of them
word💥
Im gonna revisit and play it with a controller. I think trying to play with mouse and keyboard actually hampered my experience a bit.
Yeah, it should have been way up in the list though
Castlevania is handsdown one of the most awesome medieval stuff you can experience, awesome combat, awesome aesthetic and level designs...
👌
You cannot believe how happy I am to see Asura's Wrath on the number 1 spot. People who were born in that generation know how crazy it was when we saw the trailer of Asura destroying a deity larger than earth with a few punches at the intro. If any game deserves a remake, this would be at the top. I wouldn't mind a remaster too. Thanks for giving it the love it deserves
That part at the very beginning when asura is standing on the front of that space ship, looking out in space literally jump off to "skydive" to the earth!!!!! It really lets you know this is going to be epic.....
It's like £ 3.50 on xbox
The put it on almost every list
Vanquish was released in 2010, and we are still talking about it today! That's how damn good it was. I still pray they make a sequel one day.
It’s crazy how much you guys manage to keep it fresh
Thanks
Plenty of these games are not fresh.
@@warmbeer6282 💯 fresh
@@gameranxTV the getaway and the getaway black monday
Unlike "cough, cough" WatchMojo.
The Matrix series... man. the combos, the huge fights, the bullet dodging.... Running on the walls left and right. Absolute favorite.
@DW_Documentary1We talkin’ full body? Back? Feet? 🧐
Bayonetta and Devil May Cry are amazing and both some of my fav series
The line "Look at these things!" when describing Bayonetta is an acceptable choice of words!! 😂
Shadow of war is pretty sick. The god like action as you are raiding a stronghold alongside orc and trolls and literally switching between ghost and human forms as you move like water over rocks through the castle, all leading to an epic 1v1 boss battle with elemental traps…….. good times.
You are a Elite Gamer to mention a game that can surpass majority of these games. Respect👌👌😎😎👑
@@wamerteen780 your respect is appreciated
Yeah I have over 1000 hours in that game. Still play it till this day.
@@pb602 i replay it every few years just cause of those raids. Personally loved the shadow wars haha
I discovered this gem last year and it immediately became one of my top 10 fav games of all time.
Stranglehold was AMAZING. The club deserves a mention for this list
What I love most about Metal Gear Rising is that despite the over the top chaos, it still felt like it fit in the franchise.
vanquish is totally underrated.
the way it enable you to use cover, but encourages you to be dynamic is really good.
More rewarding you for moving, than the standard "punish you for hiding behind cover" with grenades, etc.
really really underrated
NieR Automata and Replicant had some crazy over the top action. Especially in it's boss fights. I think Viewtiful Joe deserves a place on this list as well. And basically anything Platinum made.
YO a person distinguished taste Nice reply !
Wolverine game back in the day was one of my personal favorites definitely a worthy mention in part 2
Stranglehold desperately needs a huge remake, that game is a treasure
The whole time I was hoping Asura Wrath was number one. So glad you guys recognize true over the top action when it's noted. Keep up the good work team!
Our pleasure!
I'm glad you mentioned earth defense force. The amount of destruction you can cause in that game is wild. Especially as air raider
Stranglehold!! How did I forget about this game, so good🔥Love these videos, there's a few of these games I'm gonna have to pick up.
I recently played Asura's Wrath. Gotta say that it is one of my best gaming experiences ever. I still gotta play 7 more game series from this list. Got a PS3 a month ago so I can finally play them along with a lot of awesome video games :D
I think the KOEI Warriors series deserves a mention here, all of em were pretty much 1 person/group annihilating hundreds even thousands of enemy. But if we wanted to be a bit more specific then the Warriors Orochi series deserves a spot, especially the 4th, that game is definitely one of the craziest over the top experience from a Musou game that i had in a while, the magic and all that Greek Mythology stuff, it's insane. Ouh and also the Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce spin-offs of the game, where you literally fight a giant beast and transformed into a god-like mode is definitely deserves a mention at the very least. If you guys ever made a part 2 of this, I think you guys should include one of these or just simply the whole series, including the spin off from Zelda, FE, ,OP, and many more
This video describes Platinum Games and their three best games perfectly.
Castlevania lords of shadow was one of my favorites when I had it on my 360.
I say it's definitely underrated an hard to find anymore at least in my attemps
👌🏼
Thank you for acknowledging Earth Defence Force series. It's certainly worthy of this list. Action is immense and online is fun as hell. Currently playing through EDF 5. Pure action gem.
👌👍🏼
Man I remember spending hours upon hours playing Just Cause 2 & 3, absolute bangers. Even 100% completed Just Cause 2, even though the glitch showed completion just under 100%, that always annoyed me lol
I had a similar situation with Assassin's Creed 3. Apparently there was a glitch that made a recruited assassin not always count towards 100%, and if you didn't notice and reload your file until it counted it, you were screwed
Gameranx back at it AGAIN with the love for Asuras Wrath!! You guys keep bringing attention to it and we'll get a remaster or sequel yet!!!
Earth Defense Force games are just great dumb fun!! Also playing with other people online is such a blast!
Aw come on, no Astral Chain?? Platinum made it, it’s got everything you need in an action game, you even play 2 characters on screen at once, and it’s combat is so smooth!! Screw the fact it’s a switch exclusive and it caps at 30 fps, it’s such a smooth and challenging game to play. It’s CRIMINALLY underrated.
Just Cause 4 is my favourite game and I am really happy it appeared on this list
Control, that game was insanely good. The ashtray maze was a wild ride.
Honestly the Astral maze wasn't the good thing about it, the fact that you develop powers like sieze(mind control) and the DLC like the AWE project and the Fondation was beautiful. This game basically was extraordinary. Thank you for mentioning it
Awesome list! 2 personal favorites for me are the Army of Two games (great couch co-op option) and the Transformers Cybertron games for PS3/360.
Stranglehold brought back great memories. Thanks for reminding of this game.
Mercenaries Mercenaries 2 world of Destruction saboteur just cause all of these games have massive world with Incredible amounts of destructibility not to mention the vast amount of vehicles airstrikes Salvatore takes it to another level with climbing and free running along with a free-form placement of satchel charges and a large destructible environment that is overall very satisfying
👍🏼
I'm so happy you mentioned Asura's Wrath! The story in that game was legendary!
Lords of shadow is one of my favorite Castlevania games. Second only to symphony of the night. I never really got into any of the other God of war style games.... But lords of shadow always felt like how I wanted the old NES Castlevania games to feel.
I was really sad that the sequel didn't capture the symphony of the night vibes I wanted it to.... And I just couldn't do the power switching and charging stuff for the boss fights.... And that was an issue a lot sooner on the sequel.... Was really only impossible for the Satan fight in the first one.
Dante's Inferno deserves some love... plus, there's never been anything like it in terms of its atmosphere and vibe. Closest thing I can think of is Blasphemous.
Stranglehold was one of my favourite games as a kid, I played through that so many times, I remember playing the demo for the was time and it blew my mind! The destruction and the slow mo at the time was insane. The game made you feel so bad ass. I would LOVE a remaster or remake.
I remember playing stranghold on the xbox 360, this game was so good, thank you man for showing this game
Stranglehold was my first PS3 game- just a random used pick my parents grabbed when they bought the console for xmas, and it was really fun. Great way to inaugurate my new PS3 all those years ago.
I feel like Warframe deserved to be on this one. That game is balls to the walls explosions and lightshows.
Agreed, warframe has by far the best feeling movement mechanics in all of gaming.
Moving at the speed of sound while nuking everything around you is the ultimate power fantasy.
The first Crackdown game and Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction were both 3rd person games with a lot of chaos and action. Mercenaries was one of the first games I played where you could destroy whole buildings
I've been trying to find a way to play Mercenaries 1 for years. Really don't want to have to buy an OG Xbox, but my PC can't handle the emulation.
I've heard the second one was good too, but something about the trailer threw me off back then so I never picked it up.
Oh, yeah, I almost forgot about Mercenaries... thanks for reminding me!
Ahhh mercenaries I would love a remaster or remake of it
Stranglehold definitely deserved to be mentioned on this list. One of the most fun games form the 360-era, loved it as a kid.
👌
A great, over the top, underrated, cult game is Mad World for the Wii. It was a blast! You would press down the back button on the Wii-mote to start your weapon (usually a chainsaw) and then swing your controller around to slice enemies in half. It was extremely bloody and gory, and with the black and white comic art style, the finishers and gore was even more prevalent. GameInformer called it “The bloodiest game ever” when it was released. Also, fun story with hilarious announcers and narrators.
This is an awesome list. Also shoutout to Raven Software's Wolverine from 2009. Played it to bits from my University days
Absolutely love the fact that you guys mention lords of shadows :). I do feel it is sometimes a bit of a under appreciated Castlevania game and would love to see a resurgence in those type of 3d castlevania games.
It was good as an isolated experience, but it just wasn't really a Castlevania game.
I loved that game when I was younger, I was never into the castle games but Lords of shadow was truly amazing, I remember my father coming back when I was younger and handing it me, having zero clue what castlevania was I absolutely loved it.
@@ledumpsterfire6474 Hmm depends on how you look at it. I feel that a lot of people have sort of gotten used to Castlevania being a metroid vania type of game. Where everything in the game kind of takes places within the castle. Whereas if you played the original Castlevania games you would actually wander around in various places not just the Castle. The Lords of Shadows games truly captured that part of the original Castlevania games. It put good emphasize on the journey towards the castle as well. So if you would ask me I would say it was actually more true to the original games than any of the metroidvania games after it. Because let's not forget Castlevania Symphony of the Night kind of changed the formula for these games going forward. While I am a big fan of the metroidvania style as well I would not say that the lords of shadow games were any lesser just because they seemed more isolated and unique.
@@mrpancakemanftw7689 That's a great story man. That is what good games do for you. Especially the ones that you play growing up, they can sometimes leave a big impact on you. I definitely have my fair share of games that I still look back at fondly.
@@GodSoulReaper Generally the Metroidvania formula that Castlevania games followed and helped create doesn't dictate that it needs to be in a castle. Look at Blasphemous for instance, which has all kinds of environments, a lot of it outdoors, in villages, etc.
What makes a Metroidvania is a sort of open world philosophy where you explore different areas at your own pace, without a lot of direction telling you what to do next, finding tools and abilities that make reaching new areas easier, but normally with multiple ways to go about it so you're not constricted to one path through the various areas.
There have been some 3D examples, like people often compare the FromSoft games as a 3D Metroidvania.
That was what Lords of Shadows abandoned, and it was an integral part of almost all the Castlevania games imo.
It makes my day whenever I see Asura's Wrath getting some love. It was such a grand experience playing it together with my brother. And two things that makes me sad: how misunderstood and under appreciated it is, and how there's no longer an easy way for people to play it these days unless you go buy or dig up the old 360.
I'm so glad you included Asura's Wrath
Played Vanquish after i learned of it from an old video of yours 3/4 yrs ago. Loved the game
Oh my God, I remember being hooked on vanquish for months. It was so over the top and easy to pick up and play that I finished it a couple of times.
Played all the games on the list, i would add in the Prototype & Infamous games, Binary Domain & a bunch of other greats i can't quite recall the names of. Great list gameranx.
Piling on to what others are saying, it is actually crazy how much your team keeps it fresh! For being around so long, with daily uploads, of what most would consider banal/easy material, I love the fact you all always keep it fresh, interesting, and super well researched!!
I often imagine what a remake of Asura's Wrath would be like the scenes in that game were insane, if they had DMC combat it would be top notch 🔥
Thank you for adding Asuras Rath. A super Favorite!!
👌
I can’t wait to play Evil West as it brings me back to these times of just awesome 3rd person video game fun.
I gotta say it reminds me of darksiders 1, played a couple hours today and I absolutely like it a lot
Great list, especially numbers 2 and 1 with God of War: Ragnarok and Asura's Wrath (such an underrated classic).
So glad you mentioned Stranglehold! I forgot all about that game and it was amazing.
I would definitely say you missed Gears of War. Probably my #1 third person shooter. Great list tho.
HOLY SHIT! Yes! Stranglehold. I played the game constantly the summer it came out and I forgot the name years ago and have been trying to find the game again. Finally you led me to it! Phenomenal game
These are the kind of videos I like from Gameranx, no bullshit, just a guy in love with games talking and reminiscing about games. 👍👍👍👍
You guys always do the best lists!
Thanks
YES, THANK YOU! Lords of Shadow was amazing and people need to play it.
I'm STILL playing resident evil Village gold edition and loving every minute of it! Brings back so many good memories from the 4th entry 😁 didn't wanna stop playing but gotta work
They should make a Bayonetta fighting game with all those combos
Stranglehold was my first ever ps3 game. My mind as a kid was really blown with the action
Glad gameranx is showing some love to the Earth Defense Force series.
It really need i ...more people need to play those games.
Personally can't wait for Earth Defense Force 6 to be released here in North America.
Happy to see Stranglehold on this list, almost forgot about it. And I was expecting the Infamous series tho
This video convinced me to get Bayonetta/ Vanquish bundle on steam sale. Looking at DMC series too.
Should have added Sunset Overdrive. It has its slower moments of mostly traversing, but when getting the gist of it and fighting a major onslaught it's a visual feast of explosions and constant movement in all three dimensions. It's such an amazing game when basic movements of sliding and jumping almost feels like flying.
lots of games ive never heard about on this list i love it
Asura's Wrath is absolutely #1 of action games. One of the greatest Demos ever and the IP is in desperate need of a sequel
The Mercenaries series needs to be acknowledged for sure! A variety of air strikes to call in, as well as a lot of cool destructive weapons to use
The game "Marlow Briggs" is a hidden gem also. It never got enough credit.
I absolutely loved the Castlevania Lords of Shadow games. And I thought the twist at the end of the first one, which lead into the entire second game, was awesome.
Overall this is a great list. I really love most of these games.
I remember playing Insect Armageddon and loving it, then moving onto other Earth Defence Force games and being mega confused, lol. Such a different style from game to game
Surprised that Uncharted did not make the list - There is some crazy stuff in those games!
Man I need to play Vanquish! I've almost played every platinum game except that one.
This video nails down my entire genre. Where would you place Evil West on here? I'm so excited to get started on that after your videos
Totally forgot about Stranglehold! That was a fun game!
First Gameranx video where I like EVERY games mentionned in it
👌
Never heard about most of them. Cool video!
Would love to see a another game at the scale of Asuras wrath
I've played all of these games except for Earth Defense Force... Now I know what to play next!
Cant wait to see part 2!!
Was not expecting that to be #1😂🥳
Crazy how im currently replaying it
The title already gave me the idea for "Just Cause", coz it's just epic by the amount of destructions it offers you and I like this franchise
I totally agree with #1! I love Asura"s Wrath!
Thank you for mentioning "Vanquish" and "Stranglehold." I didn't have either. I have "Vanquish" now and am getting "Stranglehold" for my husband for Christmas. He's been a fan of "Hard Boiled" since way back in the day. :)
Astral chain is an absolute banger 3rd person... also platinum games *
There are definitely a hand full of these I'm going to check out after watching this vid and a part 2 would be cool
I loved vanquish it was such a fun game and super underrated
Good list to play 👍
Dear beloved gameranx team,
this video is still brand new,
but I would love to see a part two,
It's true,
you really have to make one,
you just have to,
even after your honest confessions about Devil May Cry 2,
still know that I love you
Sincerely
You know who
Told you
To do
Part 2
👍🏼
STRANGLEHOLD ! Never gets the love it deserves, one of my favorites of all time. Soooo good & if u have never played it do yourself the favor & get down with some good ole John Woo bullet time, interactive environment shootouts
Thanks for the video! This is a great list! I haven't played EDF (Yet), but it reminds me SO much of Body Harvest from N64!
Great list, excellent job and spectacular content here; thanks for smacking some sense into me to get off my ass and revisit these gems from my game vault library!!!
you got me when you said castlevania , nostalgia 💗💗
Having three games created by Platinum Games on this list pretty much shows why this developer is so beloved.
I played through all of Metal Gear Rising without realizing that I could heal myself in battle. After losing to the final boss a few times I realized i had a crap tonne of heals from the entire playthrough and was able to cheese and tank my way through the fight.
Great list of great games
wish Dante's Inferno made it to this list, such an underrated game
