    Another great diagnostic video!
I wish more people would watch and learn the art of soldering! I always comment on peoples videos that they need to use more flux.
I get bashed to death with people saying flux is ONLY for soldering a component on with!
I'm like no! Flux is used to improve the flow of solder, therefore it should be used during removal of components, removal of solder from pads, re-applying of solder, and re-installation of components. In my eyes, if you pick up your iron or your hot air wand, you should have used the flux already!!
    END OF STORY!

  • @pierregarcia9060
    @pierregarcia9060 Год назад +1

When temperature gets very high, like when some gpus are stacked for mining in a closed tight space, sometimes the fuse can be more sensitive, and blow at a lower amp rating. Its not always a short circuit. They can be sensitive to high temperature.
As always, you're a repair god.

It blows my mind that people send these old cards in. I'd imagine he's looking at a couple of hundred bucks for the repair. You can get a newer and better card (used) for around that repair price, or just barely a little bit more.

So, for someone less experienced in heat management near parts like caps, would it be worth the extra time/effort to desolder the caps first, and then put them back after the work on the nearby chip is done?

I think graphics cards are very very think.
Not sure it would work and you'd have to really heat up that board.
Best to use the copper wire method.

    • @JM-kn9dh

Since the mosfet only attaches from one side, no. The board will absorb all the heat

    Hi Alex,
    Very informative video.
One question, when you were attempting to remove the mosfet, why didn't you use low melt solder instead of hot air?
    Thankyou

    • @The98deville

There is solder under the Mosfet, can't apply solder under a component while it's still on the board
