Yup, it's interesting how Phil Jackson was always standing in the way of Reggie Miller, late 90's and then early 2000's, 2 completely different pacer teams but both were good enough to make it to the Eastern conference finals, and one good enough to make it to the finals. They just couldn't deal with Shaq, and Kobe was starting to scratch at becoming a super star
@@joshuahaynes7128 This is what people miss in this debate. As good as Kobe, Lebron, and Jordan are, Shaq was literally unguardable. There was no answer to Shaq, period. Other than maybe Wilt, truly the most dominant ever.
I think Bryant was in the zone this night, probably would've scored 50+ if it were a RS gm. His spins are fluid and a lot of those shots just dove into the net with minimal disturbance to it. He was scoring all over the place on a variety of shots, even throwing in a semi hook in the paint and a double clutch jumper, which were both unusual shots for him.
nonplayerzealot4 yea but the plan was to feed the diesel which anyone with common sense would do ... Idc if it was Jordan or LeBron u still feed the diesel I mean he averaged 38-19-5 at 64 percent this series .... how the fuck does a team get kobe and shaq at the same time lol wow... if shaq caught the ball inside it was a dunk or a and 1 my.goodness what a monster
Is Steph Curry really better than Reggie Miller? Steph before tonight had yet to have as good as a game as Reggie had in this game, and Reggie wish he had a Klay Thompson to take some of the scoring and defense attention away.
DreDaDon__ Steph is great forsure he's a better shooter than Miller and that's saying something... the warriors couldn't beat the early 00 title Lakers teams ..
I think they do because Indiana had a fairly big lead in game 6 and they might have fought a bit harder had that been a close out game. Also there would have been a game 7. The one thing is the only team that beat the Lakers at home were the Blazers. Indiana seemed intimidated playing in LA in game 1 and 2 but in game 6 they seemed more comfortable. Game 6 between Indiana and the Lakers was similar to game 7 between the Blazers and Lakers. Blazers did have a bigger lead being up by 15 but Indiana was up by 6 going into the forth quarter but got cold in a similar way that the Blazers did.
The entire state of Indiana was screaming at there tv for coach Bird to play 7’4 Smits against Shaq. When he finally put him on Shaq he fouled him out in OT. He did not play Smits on Shaq hardly at all that series I’ll never understand why.
Brian williams Reggie was a great player man . .. he always ran into prime.jordan and in this case prime shaq and kobe... how the fuck does a team get two top 10 all-time players on the same team... and good god what a monster shaq was .he averaged 38-19-5 at 64 percent unheard of .. and rick Smiths wasn't a pushover it's just that shaq was the most dominant inside force of the modern era
It was tough though, listening to Doug Collins coach for Indiana at every turn. Then the greatness of the Lakers would force him to say all that was a good player that was a good play. But the man obviously lost sleep at night over the Lakers.
Man I miss those days.! KoBe&Shaq-Connection.! this the Game where Kobe Became the Closer.!!.... They should of stayed together Maybe 7or8Championships.! Its still Lakers4life........ Reggie Miller should of Been A- Laker. Would won some Championships. I think all thies All star players in UCLA should be with the Lakers.!!............
Kobe really didnt play well at all in this series outside of this game. To be fair, he did have the ankle injury because of Jalen Rose in game 2. But this was the most important game and in the end, he was the difference.
Still after all this time I still can't help but to speculate what it would of been like had the Bulls dynasty not parted ways and could the old lion in Jordon surmount his air apparent in the 2000 Finals....till this day there is the could offs, the would offs and the should offs. For sure it would of been strange to see another players mirror Michaels Jordan moves, even the running to the base line stop on a dime fade away is way too much like Mike....that would of been crazy mirror match between the old lion and new lion.
Too Blessed847 I agree ... as great as Jordan was he never guarded a player as good as kobe was offensively... I think the 01 Lakers would've beat the 96 bulls in a 7 game series .
As good as pippen and jordan was u gotta see that kobe and shaq are the more.dominant duo... yea Jordan is slightly better than kobe but kobe is way better than pippen... and there is no anwswr for prime early 2000s bulked up shaq.. Malone and Stockton gave the bulls fits I know the lakers would've took it.to.7 or won ... but it's hard to get against prime Jordan in the finals u cant ... LeBron and kobe fans don't realize that Jordan never came up short in the finals. His last shot as a bull was a game winner for the championship I mean how clutch ... if Jordan didn't retire twice in his prime he would've shattered records.... lebrin or kobe still haven't won scoring title and defensive player of the year in the same season like Jordan...... when Jordan dropped 63 at the Boston garden .Larry bird said it wasn't Jordan it was god in a bulls jersey
What did I just tune into at the opening of this video: Arial views of Conseco field house and the coolest and jazziest elevator music I've heard sort of sounded like an elevator music rendition of Michael Jackson beat it...lol!!!
Papawowmac what you're saying is true but not at the age of 21. Your are talking Lebron most recently the shots Kobe makes on this video at 21, Lebron at 21 with all his worldly accomplishments and ridiculous numbers at the same age could NEVER pull off there's footwork being shown here Lebron still doesn't have in his game and Kobe has it at 21 there's dribble pull up fade away vs contested shots. jab step spins sorry, Lebron would still find a way to be highly effective but not the same skill level. Few do though
and he definitely wouldn't be taking the shots and doing the stuff Reggie Miller was doing. a step back fade away 3 ? we will NEVER see some shit like that from LBJ
Papawowmac okay, you got me! lol. of course he has to act like the king of the world, but that's okay. still, Miller was fucking balling in this game. just couldn't overcome two mega stars at one time.
JSwanKilowJ he does sometimes but overall there isn't a fear factor of him actually hitting it if lebon hits it you say wow if Miller does it you say fuck! they gave him space
That last three would've changed history
Listen to the music in the intro.. Man the aesthetics surrounding the game was just top notch back then.
We much acknowledge Shaq stepping up and making his FTs this game
This was the best game of the series, hands down.
Gone too soon. RIP Kobe 💛💜
Reggie played outta his mind in this series, but Kobe & Shaq combo was just too much
Yup, it's interesting how Phil Jackson was always standing in the way of Reggie Miller, late 90's and then early 2000's, 2 completely different pacer teams but both were good enough to make it to the Eastern conference finals, and one good enough to make it to the finals. yea shaq was the def the 1st option during those championship years, but i mean good god young Kobe may be the best 2nd option in NBA history
Henry Neal let's be real tho. Idc if it was LeBron or.jordan you still feed shaq .. he was a 60 percent shooter in the paint ...
@@joshuahaynes7128 This is what people miss in this debate. As good as Kobe, Lebron, and Jordan are, Shaq was literally unguardable. There was no answer to Shaq, period. Other than maybe Wilt, truly the most dominant ever.
Without this talentfree meatlove in center position they lost the series 4-0. Ugly basketball
@@akosh33 Shaq was at the peak of his powers, plus Rik Smits was guarding him, not 1995 Hakeem Olajuwon. You have to feed the big fellow.
The Kobe put back , Miller actually blocked his own team mate, he thought it was Kobe.

2:27 it's a MIRACLE! Shaq made free throw
Kobe and shaq!!!LAkers for life!!!
ITS MILLER TIME!!!!
did that shaq made 7/7 free throws in a row...
Shaq made them when they counted most of the times. He would at least make 1/2...
This was really Shaq team
Reggie lived right Accross the lake from me and I never knew he drove an expedition ha
KMT15 that nigga money
Will Smith can you feel me song playing in the Arena off the Willennium album playing at 0:53
Kobe’s footwork was even good as a young player
Dat old school porno track intro. lol
At least Skinemax soft porn! 😆
Had the Pacers won this game, the series would have taken a different turn
Who wins the series if miller hits that last shot????
Lebron wouldn’t have the heart to take that shot miller took at the end to try to save the series
Is Steph Curry really better than Reggie Miller? Steph before tonight had yet to have as good as a game as Reggie had in this game, and Reggie wish he had a Klay Thompson to take some of the scoring and defense attention away.

Does indiana win the series if that last 3 goes in??

the league was fortunate shaq was a terrible Ft shooter
imagine Shaq at even 65%? he'd avg 35
Dkouts57 easily.. people forget that Shaq always made the clutch free throws tho.
What did I just tune into at the opening of this video: Arial views of Conseco field house and the coolest and jazziest elevator music I've heard sort of sounded like an elevator music rendition of Michael Jackson beat it...lol!!!
LeBron would NEVER have the balls to take and make the shots that Kobe took in this game, especially at that age.
