    For under 350$ I heated my small 360 gallon pool up to 98 degrees using a cheep propane outdoor camping shower water heater, just wanted to see how warm I could get it, the steam was just rolling off of it on a 35 degree day lol, I normally kept it right around 83 into the colder months, just turned it on a good 4 hours before going in, made it nice and toasty. I only used the pool mostly for at home physical therapy and on occasion my younger nieces and nephews kids would enjoy a dip during a summer cookout. Granted I had to design a special box for it to keep things from freezing, a slightly higher PSI water pump and added an outdoor 120 volt google and alexa wifi enabled thermostat controller switch and encased all the hoses and pipes in insulated foam. Could also be ran off a 12 volt car battery during power outages, using a small inverter for the thermostat controller or just switch over to a 12 volt temp controller. When I'd finally break the pool down for winter, I'd use the water heater to keep my small outdoor waterfall/pond flowing right thru all the snow storms, steam coming off it like a London fog lol. But made for some very interesting looking ice flow creations around the edges.

    I assume the filter pump also has to be on for this to work? If pool pump gets turned off intentionally or accidentally i assume this heat pump will automatically turn off. Interesting in these but would need it running 24/7 to warm pool so that means need to run filter pump 24/7

    I live in Kentucky, my pool is 3500 gallons. March the average low is 40 and high is 68. Would this heater work in those conditions? I have a solar cover. My sand filter pump speed 2100/1600.

    • @TheRandyMan

      My guess is that it certainly seems big enough to handle the size. I would think it would work as long as you wait to run the heater until the air temp is around 60+ and use the cover to help keep the heat in at night.

    Just seeing this and I'm struggling to keep my above ground pool heated in MN, I do use a solar heater which is ok..just not warm enough. I have only one outlet on the deck so no dedicated outlet for a pool yet. How warm can you make it and how long does it take to heat up? Just plug it in? Has this worked pretty well for you seeing you have had this awhile now? How costly is this to run? Thinking of getting one.

    • @TheRandyMan
      @TheRandyMan  Год назад +2

      It has really helped my pool. I keep it set at 85° and not only has it extended my swimming season. It is made me much happier. Without it I would not use the pool nearly as much because I hate a cold pool. Because it’s a heat pump it runs very efficiently so it’s really not bad for the electric at all at least for me. Good luck!!
