most of us are reluctant to attempt repairs because we do not know where to get new parts if we lose or break them. Some repair shops will look down on you for attempting and then charge excessive amounts instead of encouraging normal people like you do. Learn something new every time I watch your videos. Thanks for making them look easy.
Thank you for taking the time to film all this. Family member who is partially disabled picked up an '82 Yamaha. I'm doing my best to fix and tweak things to keep it running. Your video's give me the courage to at least try to solve issues.

Awesome video! It walked me through cleaning my carb. I just bought a 2014 Yamaha Drive and I didn't know it but the throttle side of the carb had gone past it's stop thus the butterfly valve was stuck wide open. It would surge when applying gas pedal so I knew something was up but thought it may have been a bad cable. Thank you for such detail!

Thanks for the video, i clean my 2007 cab but its running rich how do i adjust
I always take a rip and get the motor hot. Laser thermometer the header and note the difference from one side to the other. If they are really different, swap plugs. If the problem goes to the other side. New plugs. If it stays, carb clean...this usually takes care of most issues.
What about replacing the needle and seat in the carb? I’d think that would make sense if there is the potential that it’s pushing too much fuel and over filling the bowl right?

Hi Kevin, my 1992 club car gas doesn’t have those spacers between engine and transmission bracket could you tell me the size of these spacers please so that I can replace them thank you!!!

Thank you for this video. I followed your steps and took the carburetor off, but I only took the bowl off and cleaned that out. When I put it back on and got to the part where you did the gas flush, I wasn't sure if the stream was as strong as it should have been. Then I did have to use the choke to get it running. It ran fine afterwards and then I got in it the next day and it still ran fine, but later that day it died. The engine was running but it was almost like it was never getting into gear. Thoughts?
You have to completely disassemble the carb to clean it properly. Cleaning the bowl sometimes works but if it has a lot of debris, it needs a complete cleaning. A thorough inspection of the fuel tank is needed as well. It sounds like you have water in the gas. This requires draining the gas tank, cleaning it and refilling with fresh, clean fuel. If the engine is running, it should be able to drive. You are describing the engine cranking and not running.
when removing e clip if you do not have proper tool ( has a hook to pull it off ) that captures the clip and other end is slotted to hold it when installing the clip
If you do have the tool bearing grease on screw driver helps to hold it in a pinch either installing or removing I can send pics of tools
I put a new carb on and I still have a bad smell. Any thoughts?
Once I take the carb off the motor, can I throw that entire unit in a sonic wash with some simple green? Let it dry then break it down and clean it with carb cleaner like you? As a perfectionist, id like to make sure the outside is nice and clean too before putting it all back together. Thanks.
That’s how I do it for paying customers , even if your the only one that sees that clean carb just says a lot about your craftsmanship and pride in you your work. My father was a patient teacher when we worked in the shop every day I cherish the knowledge he gave me .
I have heard of guys boiling their carb in a pot of water...and a little carb clean after. No taking it apart. I believe thats only if the fuel gels up.
Its probably faster just to disassemble it and clean it. Its really not that hard to do.
Have you seen JR3 motor in a G16 fill the crankcase full of gas pushing the oil in to the air breather box because of a dirty carburetor possibly filling the cylinder up with gas
Actually I had one of those in the shop not too long ago. The customer kept trying to start the engine and did some internal engine damage and flooded the muffler with gas. The ethanol in the gas attracts moisture. I've seen the rubber tip on the float valve swell up and get stuck open when it gets wet. Also, small pieces of fuel line and other debris that makes it past the carb can causes the float to stick open. A failing fuel pump can allow the fuel to flow freely and flood the entire engine.
My money is on the fuel pump. It's allowing gas to leak down the pressure line and into the cylinder head

What is your thought on the cheap China carburetors for $20 for the Yamaha’s I have used them in the past and they seem to work. What’s your take on them?
Most, if not all of the aftermarket carbs are made in China. I've had bad luck with the cheapo carbs on Amazon and eBay so I stick with my vendors. The carbs I install are a bit more expensive, but are much better quality. I have seen some of the cheaper carbs made with very loose jetting tolerances. This can cause fouled plugs or even engine damage.
I always thought the arrow on fuel filter was pointing the direction of the flow.
That's correct, the arrow shows the direction of flow. I'm referring to the direction of the filter element itself. When the fuel flows around the outside of the filter element, this allows you to see any debris in the filter. If you install it backwards, you cannot see the debris.

I like your videos. Where is the best place to get air and fuel filters?
I buy mine from Red Hawk since I'm a dealer. I'm not currently able to process online orders. Do you're best to support your local repair shop instead of Amazon or eBay.
I have a 96 g16a that I put a bigger jet in the carb. No when I go down a hill (holding back) and get to the bottom it spits and sputtering and back fires and don't run good the rest of the day.. any suggestions
Reinstall the original jet and see how it behaves.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts I was planning on doing that next just to see but was really hoping the bigger jet would work out to get a little more pulling power as it helps it now till it starts flooding out
thanks Kevin, all those little pieces, lol. My 2007 club car ran for 10 minutes, then stalled out, nothing under my foot. Cranks, put won't run. Thinking dirty carb? Fuel Pump? Hard to get any one to look at it, every one busy. Changed air filter, spark plug, fuel filters clean. idk, process of elimination.
Start with checking fuel flow from the pump. If its good, then pull the carb and clean it.

Any support videos or thoughts on oil leak in 2008 Yamah golf cart?
I mightve overfiled the reservoir while adding oil, but now its all over the engine and the cart actually doesnt start any longer

They only hold 1 US quart of oil. If its overfilled, you will need to drain the excess oil.
where is the leak??????????
