I have the 2018 Blade 15 with 1070 and Blade 13 with 1650Ti. I have been using the Blade 13 more, so much lighter, quieter, cooler than my 15 and with the smaller screen I can change various graphical settings without noticing any significant differences. Granted I mostly play indie games and fighting games but it did surprise me how much the generational differences were.
Another reason for using the Blade 13 more is that my 15 is having weird issues where the battery depletes while on the charger. This didn't happen when playing the exact same game on the 13 (Hellpoint). This could be software related but I already did a clean install, which makes me wonder if it could possibly be hardware related, I suspect the SSD may be corrupt in some way.
I almost went for the Blade 14, but figured why not wait if they up the next version to 32GB ram (although I'm fine with 16GB), possibility of a 16:10 screen, possibility of thunderbolt compatibility with AMD. I'd actually be happy with it as it is now, but why not wait and see if those will be the next improvements, I don't actually need the Blade 14 with how good the 13 is for me at this moment.

  • @Magnisus

They need to implement indium pads + vapor chamber + quad fan design. That will solve noise problems and help with the performance.
They should also make power button a fingerprint, its cheap and I miss that old protective glass for IPS so that dust doesn't fall in to gaps of the frame.

nooo on the 4k. It would drain battery faster, it would have huge diminishing returns on that size and it would affect gaming performance significantly. 1440p is the PERFECT panel and it's 165hz! Even better.

Loved the video. Good to know what are the downsides when looking for laptops too.
I agree with the logo for sure, I love the overall design but the logo is too much. Perhaps have it as LED lighting up that can be turned off from software. Also, offer some colour choices like the silver 13'. I feel like it's asking for a skins on it just to keep the design more quiet, helping with fingerprints too.
RAM is essential, or at least give option to buy up to 32GB if soldered.
Why is there no thunderbolt with intel cpu?
The charger is understandably big, I would likely buy a seperate 100w USB-C charger for outdoors usage.
Agree with 16:10 as well, surely will make it's way to the blade in future.
Touchscreen would be a nice extra touch.
Webcam isn't essential but I feel like they can do decent 1080p without much sacrifice at the price. People don't realise they need a webcam until they do.
Overall they do an excellent job and I'm learned towards blade 14 instead of G14. A tough choice.

The only things I would like too see in future would be , slightly increase the thickness of each laptop. Not by a huge amount, 2-5mm would be sufficient just to increase a small bit of air volume, especially on the 14, so the Vapor chamber can have a bit more volume. The screen 16-10 screen would also be great for general productivity and Free-sink/ G-sink on all monitors from now on.
Next on speakers, especially if you increased the thickness slightly, add a small subwoofer underneath.
AMD chips would be great in almost all of your laptops, or at least an option.
Also if you added a tiny bit more thickness to the 14 so we can go with a 32g ram, the next small, yet large thing would be allow us to disable Optimus.
    To recap.
1-5mm thicker Blade 14, which should increase cooling. The extra room could allow for a 32g ram and a small subwoofer underneath, Free-sink 16-10 QHD monitors/ Oled across the board. Lastly, moving the charger to the rear of the unit.

The only compromise you'd really be making is having an Intel CPU, but even then, 11th gen is quite competitive in terms of performance even if it still isn't very efficient or cool.

Call them out on not having armoury crate aura sync be compatible with all keyboard layouts, my laptop has a Turkish key layout and if I want to set a custom lighting profile for rgb a few of the keys on the keyboard don’t show up in the software and so you can’t apply anything to them. At the same time I would like to game some games (NFS, Call of duty and GTA basically) when I travel. I am no tech expert and therefore have a mess on my head as there are so many things to consider when choosing a professional light laptop which lets you game on the side. Could you give me some advise and try to recommend me one?
I like models which look like the MacBook Pro such as Dell XPS 15, Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 and, although not that similar to Mac, Lenovo X1. These give me the pros of design, lightweight and good for business (I mainly use Outlook, Excel, Word and PPT), but when I see the price (€1.5-2.0K) I consider buying Razer Blade 14 directly and having a good gaming laptop as well as business.
Sorry for the long message, hope you can help me.

Not a Macbook fan/user but I am very tempted to migrate.
The issues with PC laptops nowadays are either no AMD CPU or no 32GB RAM option if it does, or no 16:10 display, or no decent speakers or have crappy webcam. Not having a discrete GPU is fine, I'm just looking for a work laptop. 16GB RAM on PC won't cut it anymore.
Macbook Air M1 with 16GB RAM can fulfill all these at a lower price. M1 is easy on RAM consumption, and if it does use the virtual memory, it is so fast that we don't notice it anymore. PC land simply has no answer in this area. The only downside is the lack of certain features in apps like MS Teams and Zoom.

They are very good, good number of ports, very beautiful and robust, beautiful screen, above average battery, and great sounds. However, they are indeed expensive, first of all. Second, the thermals. I know that a gaming laptop isn't the most quiet nor coldest in the world, but man, it screams.

As far as the logo goes I think they should do something like they did with the razer phones where the emblem is silver over black but if you want it to light up you can turn it on or off with RGB. That would be perfect for a classy look or popping RGB with the same device. Idk why they haven't done this yet. The razer phones are a few years old at this point so it's not something they can't do especially for a 1800-2800 dollar price range.

Matthew, I'm thinking of getting a Razer 17" but I've seen so many bad reviews about it, screen issues, BSOD, screen suddenly going black, etc. Have you used on a regular basis a razer laptop? had any issues? Thanks.

it would have been good if a holistic view is covered including post sale support. Razer is notoriously infamous for customer support - that must play a part in buying a £2k laptop.

Sadly like Matt said, battery bloat is just a thing in gaming laptops when you have a battery next to the temperatures these things function at. Go to any of the subreddits and type in bloat and you'll find pictures and pictures of bloating regardless of brand. I know the Surface Book had some serious issues with it.

Ive been using this Razer blade design for years and just to let you know if your hands dont excrete a lot of sweat , like u find it difficult to open a plastic bag you need to add some water before you can open a plastic bag. Then you wont leave fingerprints at all on this machine. I almost feel like it was designed for me.

  • @KarnageKollectibles

I'm pretty sure it's soldered on because of how thin they wanted the laptop to be. We all know Razer doesn't care if you swap out ram since you can do that on the Razer Blade 15 but they had to make a choice on upgradable ram in a thicker chassis or vice versa. I still think they made the right decision but my only complaint would be they should offer models with 16 and 32gb soldered on. All they would have to do is put 4gb modules on the motherboard instead of the 2gb they are using currently.
All that being said, the Razer Blade 14 is the best feeling laptop I've ever used. Everything from Asus to Alienware to Surface, this is the most premium feeling product I've ever had in my hands in laptop form. I do agree on the logo. The logo should just be plain silver and the way it should light up is by RBG and if you have RBG off then it should just be a silvery or black logo. No point in making it green, let the green LED's handle that.

I'm a 33 year old man. I'll be buying gaming laptops for the rest of my life. But I don't want other people to know that my laptop is a "gaming laptop" if I whip it out at a meeting with clients. Sure, I can buy secondary laptop to look "professional" for when I need it, and sure I can buy a case cover or whatever, but why not just tone down the damn green snake logo so I can turn my "gaming laptop" into my "everything laptop". I think the logo is straight embarrassing for all parties honestly lol.

I have the razer blade 15 2021 and the only issues I have really found are click issues with the track pad e.g. right clicking giving left click etc. Other issue yes yes the finger prints, the crappy web camera which when spending that much money I would have expected something so simple and cheap to have been upgraded.
Other than that the logo I have absolutely no issue with. The over all build and ease of access inside for upgrading of the m.2 and ram is simple and straight forward. There is some dead space inside where there used to be room for anstandard SSD and this could have been utilised better on the 15 model but over all it's a solid solid build and a pleasure to use.

I just received the 3070 early 2021 model (i7 108750H) coming from an early 2019 Razer Blade 15 (i7 8750H), and while I love the seemingly better trackpad and thinner profile, I gotta say the speakers are just awful - underwhelming to say the least.
I don't know exactly what the problem is here - they're just so thin on the lower end and almost piercing on the higher end. I've done driver troubleshooting and a clean install of Windows (using Razer's installation media) and still, the sound is just orders of magnitude worse than my 2019 Blade 15. They don't sound broken or damaged - they just sound substantially worse. I wonder if you (or anyone else who can speak to past Blade models) have heard the same thing....

I really wish the FN and CTRL keys on the left side were switched in position. Or that in the BIOS you could switch these, since FN keys cannot be remapped in Windows. Lenovo lets you switch the FN and CTRL key in the BIOS. Considering how often I use CTRL for Copy Paste, to gaming, my pinky/ring finger just doesn't like reaching to the CTRL key, it's unnatural for my hands.

And hopefully with ryzen, as we saw in the blade 14, using ryzen allowed them to put the same power to the gpu as the blade 15 advanced even though it's a 14inch laptop which (hopefully) means we would get at least 140+ watts on the gpu in the blade 17 or maybe 120+ watts in the ryzen blade 15
