  • Dr. Voddie Baucham redefines love from the Scriptures. He talks about how we have adopted an unbiblical view of love and romance from the culture and explains this 'love', and then goes on to define true love from the Bible.
Taken from the second sermon, "True Love", in a four-part series called "Love and Marriage"...
    1. In The Beginning • Voddie Baucham - Love ...
    2. True Love • Voddie Baucham - Love ...
    3. The Other Half • Voddie Baucham - Love ...
    4. The Better Half • Voddie Baucham - Love ...

I played this message over and over again after breaking up with my ex boyfriend to help me get validation that i made a right decision how ever hard and unbelievable it is to leave a man so perfect. Because i was feeling guilty for leaving a man who loved me. But didn't believe in God. We were in love but i was not at peace. And i wanted a future with God at the center and for my children.

You're strong for doing something like that. A relationship not based on Christ is bound to fail. May God grant you more strength💙

I had to leave 3 people( 3 diffrent points in time) in my life who liked me and whom i liked (emotions were strong with them, just like he z - the heart wants what it wants..thats how i wanted all of them) because they are people who will never understand the ways of my Lord Jesus Christ..But Now I am engaged to a Man who has the desire for God's word and who leads me in faith. I decided to marry him because i know that he is child of God , he love the word of God and I thought i could love him...At this point I look back and thank God for equipping me to leave all others because now I am in the hands of someone who fear the Lord and want to love me like Christ loved his Church.God is filling my heart with love for him each day .eventhough when i made the choice of marrying him i didnt had much emotions but today he is the second love of my life...First is my Jesus Christ.
If you take a decision for the sake of our Gods glory you will not regret it...

This is me right now my spirit was troubled, and knew we would probably not have a long marriage with different views on going to church every week, and even our opposing views on the LGBT communitiy and how that would come into play raising children. I suppressed the spirit talking to me because I just loved how she made me feel and wanted a cinderella story( yea i know how that sounds) but thankfully we ended after 4 months so eventually we will forget about each other and move on. At least we broke it up before we had kids or we got married and then we would have opposing views and such It just sucks cause this was both of our first real love and while she was sincere, she didn't grow up in church, was a christian so she just had different values and at the end of the day one of us would have to change our values drastically. Sorry I just had to rant lol God bless

This is an issue I'm having with my husband of 18 years! I had a fall that caused me to have an open compound fracture. I was in the hospital for almost two months. When I got home, my husband was acting so different! His whole attitude toward me had changed. I finally found found that he had been engaging in an affair with 3 different women! He was also visiting sex sites online. There were so many I couldn't believe what he had done. This happened about 5 months ago and I discovered that he never stopped!!! I am so beside myself. I can't sleep, eat, and he keeps telling me I want to be with me!! But he acts like he can say I'm sorry and thinks that's gonna fix it!!! I should have expected it due to the fact that there hasn't really been any love in my marriage for the past 15 years!! I guess I just don't know what to do with myself!! In a marriage there has to be two people trying to fix the problems that arise!! I can't fix it on my own!! I pray that if there are others out there going through the same thing my advice would be. Don't just go through the motions !! Take a stand and don't wait until until your in my shoes trying to figure out what to do!!! I have extremely bad health and everyday is a challenge. I have stage four chronic kidney disease, stage three liver disease, a bad heart and alot more!! I also suffer from lupus which affects my immune system and arthritis pain everyday of my life!! I can't live on my own!!! This sermon is what he is going to watch and maybe then he will decide what he wants. Me or these other women!!

Definition from Matthew 22 and Deuteronomy 6:
“Biblical Love is an act of the will, accompanied by emotion that leads to action on behalf of its object”
    1 It is a Choice
2 Does not lack of emotion but it is not lead by emotion
    3 action based

I feel like he's a little vague; can someone help give a clearer picture of what he's describing? I understand that the socially-accepted (the greco-roman) view of "love" is basically a powerful emotion, but biblical love is "willing oneself to love"? The definition seems a little paradoxical, since it's basically "What is love? Oh, it's love, obviously". Can someone help me understand it a little better? Thanks.

this has helped me a lot but I still have a doubt: how do I know that I have chosen the right man to love? how do I know that he is the right man for me if I shouldn't rely on emotions and feelings? please excuse my ignorance but I don't get it.

    • @kallepeterl5820
      @kallepeterl5820 8 лет назад +8

The point is that you choose to love. When you guide your heart, you will protect it. You "place" if it were, as God places His love on Israel, upon that person.
When you have guided your heart, you may certainly let emotion flow, since our God has emotions for His beloved. They do, however, flow from His choice.
But about the "right man", the point here is that there is no such thing.
If you are already married, then he is the right one and you are to love him.
If you are not yet married, then you find a godly man who fears God.
A man who loves Jesus more than anything else will be a good one, since He will try to honour Jesus in all things, including marriage.

Okay friend the pastor is saying love is not an emotion like we are made to believe it from the movies we watch.Love , from a biblical point of view, is an act of the will ,it's a decision that you take and live with it for the rest of your life..God loved the world & gave His Son Jesus Christ to die for us He didn't love us because we were lovable but because He chose to love us. Thats it! So that friend of yours should choose whom they want to be with provided they also fear The Lord & are born again believers& they should stick with that decision till death do them part or till Christ returns

Jeremiah 17 about the heart being wicked was written hundreds of years before the New Covenant. One one is saved one gets a new heart - so Jeremiah 17 is about nonbelievers - people who are not saved, with a new heart, born again. Please don’t take verses out of context.

Now let's tell you a story about a man named Jesus:
    A god assaulted, by proxy,
inseminated a 'virgin' named Mary, in order to bring his son incarnate into our world.
    A cowardly action....
    Mary and her fiance?,
....Joseph, had to travel to Bethlehem to register for the census.
There Mary gave birth to a son of a god.?
God put a star in the sky to guide people to the baby?
In a dream God told Joseph to take his family to Egypt.
Then this God stood by and watched as Herod killed thousands and thousands of babies in Israel in an attempt to kill Jesus. (wow!)
As a man, God's son claimed that he was God incarnate: "I am the way, the truth and the life," he said.
This man performed many 'miracles'. He healed lots of sick people. He turned water into wine. These miracles prove that he is God? Miracles??
But he was eventually given the death sentence and killed by crucifixion.
His body was placed in a tomb.
But three days later, the tomb was empty.
And the man, alive once again but still with his wounds (so anyone who doubted could see them and touch them), appeared to many people in many places.
Then he ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of his god the father almighty, never to be seen again.
Today you can have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus.
You can pray to this man and he will answer your prayers.
He will cure your diseases, rescue you from emergencies, help you make important business and family decisions, comfort you in times of worry and grief, etc.
This man will also give you eternal life, and if you are good he has a place for you in heaven after you die.
The reason we know all this is because, after the man died, four people named Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wrote accounts of the man's life. Their written attestations are proof of the veracity of this story.
This is the story of a Jesus. ""
    Do you believe this story?
    You are Delusional !!~!
*However any debate on this is useless - since a god needs to be proven - First.
However, .... any debate on this is useless, since a god
needs to be proven - First.
    FIRST !!!

The Bible 'book' = a compendium of fire side tales and fables,
    recounted orally ,
for generations by goat herders and primitive tribes from the stone age,
    until writing was invented,
and then, many different sources, transliterations, and versions were copied and written down..
''The Bible was created during a time where stories were verbally passed down over hundreds of years.
Stories constantly morphed and changed over time, and the Bible is a collection of these.
This is why it has the nearly identical flood story from Gilgamesh, and why Jesus has the same characteristics as Dionysus, Osiris, Horus, Mithra, and Krishna.
The contradictions and immorality in the stories are not evidence that God is flawed or evil,
but rather that humans invented him, just like the thousands of other gods that we used to, but no longer believe in.''
..and to answer the questions of the many fears and mysteries of our universe, like 'thunder' and earthquakes, since there was no science yet.
    That was the old Testament....
The new Testes is also hearsay since these letters, 'gospels' and stories were written by the loyal faithful, the camp followers,
not by objective historians at that particular time,
    or by any contemporary writers,
and these tales were written many years after the supposed events of this mythical Jesus.
There is essentially very little evidence of a Jesus in real documented history.
A couple of spurious Roman reports, and all the rest anecdotal.
...but more importantly ...a jesus' existence is not an issue!
A jesus is irrelevant without a god !
Then, many of these stories, but not all, as many were not chosen,
[ There are more than just four Gospels but only these four were agreed on ],
were compiled for one self-absorbed converted Roman Emperor in his Nicean Council,
for his expressed purpose of conquest
    and
control of the people of Europe for his Holy Roman Empire.
He recognised that this was the perfect religion/mythology for the future domination of the populaces.
Half of the stories were ignored by the Nicean Bishops and none have been proven to be based on fact.
This 'Bable' book is backed up by absolutely no facts and no evidence.
It is not proof for any god(s) ....(or of any jesus as a god...)
The fables are intertwined within historical places and people...
eg Egypt and the Pharaohs existed,
whereas Moses and the Exodus did not happen...!
    It is a historical novel
.... ie A book of fiction..
    Only!
The Bible book is proof of a book ... ONLY (certainly not evidence of any gods...)
    PROVE a god!

The word of God never fails if u actually had a faith in him you would see the Bible is more true than the endless genealogies and fables u trust the followers of Jesus Christ have real testimonies and prayers have been answered that have had specific details in them and people have literally been delivered and set free and nations even follow the basic commandments of God law your ignorance keeps you blind thinking but one thing is certain I just have hope that God will show u what no man could convince you of and it's funny if you had no belif in God then why do u attack on the name of Jesus if he means nothing why do u seek to watch videos like these when. Your already right in your own mind only a fool is wise in his own eyes and for certain if you had this much disbelief why do u watch these things when u scorn u will only bare it alone so u will only stay in disbelief for your self
