Completely agree. I absolutely loved Boston. Visited on holiday from England and just fell in love with the city. Fantastic bars and great Italian food. Reminds me of England with all the historical buildings and churches. Friendly locals more than happy to direct you to the attractions. Boston common in summer is just superb.....well worth a visit. Great video guys.

During the 90's I went to college in Cambridge, Had my first job in Boston, made it big during the Internet Boom in there, and, met my wife at a very nice place called Sonsie on Newbury Street, she was and still is the most beautiful redhead in the world. So Yeah, as far as I'm concerned Boston is the best city in the world and I'm saying this while I have been living for the last 18 years in another great city called Paris.

    • @DelightfulTravellers
      @DelightfulTravellers  4 года назад +2

We 100% agree and we'd choose Boston over Paris any day of the week. We've been to Paris a few times now and we've yet to really 'fall for it' like some other cities. Maybe next time we need to integrate into the neighbourhoods there. Thanks for watching Elias! - Trevor

This was my first video of yours that I've seen, and being a Boston resident it was a good test. I thought you did a great job!
To all of the people who said it's not called "Little Italy": Relax! It's a just a term used in many other cities, and although locals don't use the name, it works to explain the area to potential visitors.
Also, regarding the Christmas trees provided by Nova Scotia: They do that as a Thank You to Boston because of the help we provided after the tragic Halifax explosion in 1917. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halifax_Explosion
Just before you went into the North End, you were standing in a green area and describing other parks in Boston (e.g., the Commons and Public Gardens). Where you were standing is called The Greenway and is relatively new. Boston used to have an elevated highway (I-93) which divided the city but it was made into a tunnel and the area above was made into public space. Lots of great food trucks along there, BTW. Also another merry-go-round.
Another area that visitors would enjoy is the Back Bay. Lots of shopping and restaurants along Newbury St and Commonwealth Ave. It's one of the few places in Boston with streets laid out in a grid...and that's because it is _relatively_ new. It was formed by filling in the back bay to make land. Now with the Charles River dam too it is very different than how it was 200 years ago. (Check out this map, that shows Boston was nearly an island! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Boston#/media/File:Boston,_1775bsmall1.png)

Nice vlog, we visited last year in February from England and we were blown away by the place. I can't believe how different it looks in summer. The fact its so walkable and everything is so close together is a big pull as it takes the hassle of taxis or public transport away. We visited a few places that are on the video. We mainly frequented all the tap rooms and the north end. We'd go back in a heart beat just for the craft beer and lobster rolls 😁

Go early they close after lunch and run out of things. In Downtown Crossing, Sam Lagrassas is one of the best places I've ever been for deli sandwiches. I think all are cooked on sites with great sides. They even have iced tea that didn't start as a powder, not too common in Boston! For pizza, they Reginas in the North End is good.

Delightful Travellers - if you frequently visit Boston maybe you should consider Plymouth, P-Town, New Bedford, Fall River, Providence and Newport, RI.. Lots of history and great foods. Plenty to do, tons of places to explore. Some really nice beaches. There's way more to Massachusetts then Boston. I lived in Massachusetts most of my life. Rarely bothered to go to Boston.

Figured I do some explanation, and some facts at it...
North End - Yes, Boston does not have a Little Italy but it is called the North End. Hence the four directions being use (South Boston or should I say South End..., East Boston, North End, West End).
Boston Common - The little lake is called The Frog Pond. In the summer, kids play in it. In the winter, it becomes an ice skating rink.
Cambridge - Although you said Cambridge is more known for being a university town, in fact, Boston is considered a College Town. The list of colleges and universities are more than you can think of. Some examples includes Suffolk University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Emerson College, Mass College of Pharmacy and Science, MassArt, Benjamin Franklin Institute.... The list can go on...
Boston - Little fact that many people may not know but Boston is actually ranked very high in the Walkable Cities Category
Boston - Boston has the first Subway system in the US, beating out New York by a few months.
Boston - The Union Oyster House near the North End is considered to be the oldest restaurant still in operation in the US.
Feel free to ask away as I may have answers to some questions...

It’s not Quincy market it’s faunueil hall, it’s not little Italy it’s the north end. So you have these 2 here who have been to Boston maybe a handful of times so now they’re experts on the city

Kerry, Native Bostonian, here. Actually, I have several friends who have family that settled into the north end in the early 1900s. THEY have referred to it as “little Italy”. They are the experts. As for the FANEUIL hall comment, there are two buildings on that property. One is Faneuil Hall and the other is Quincy Market. If you’re going to try to correct someone, research your answers before you post them.
Incidentally, I LOVED the video. Every winter, when I contemplate moving somewhere warmer, it’s the draw of Boston that keeps me here. Thanks for the reminder of how awesome the city is!!!

Yes the saint day feasts or (there are several) are super traditional and a very Boston thing that a lot of tourists don't see. The North End is slowly losing its Italian character (except for restaurants) and being turned into expensive condos like everywhere else in Boston, but the feasts are when it gets back to its roots!

Cute? You think the homes on Beacon Hill are cute? I'd like to see the "cute" expression on your face when you ask about the purchase price of early 18th Century Greek Revival homes! From the comments below it is apparent that many Bostonians think of you as ultimately cute, esp. in that tank top. :) Just out of curiosity, where were your people when they were being constructed? Many thanks, Art Blackburn, Massachusetts native and current resident. P.S. I wouldn't openly confuse the South End with South Boston while in Eastern Massachusetts. You might suddenly feel wicked cute!

I was born and raised in Massachusetts close to Boston and my best bit of advice for anybody visiting is I hope you bring a s*** ton of money because Boston will bleed you dry. Parking fees are through the roof it is not uncommon to spend more than $50 on parking and the public transportation continues to grow in price as well. The Museum of Science the aquarium all the fun family activities bar$50 plus a person and Quincy Market is just a big overcrowded Mall with crappy souvenirs. I do enjoy the North End the food is amazing and make sure you try the cannolis this video did make me laugh because these two were so excited to visit the North End only to order a salad? LOL okay you get my drift I'm not trying to be mean but find some local bars and definitely grab some local food and just bring a lot of money lol
