No need to be a believer to appreciate these chants. After one listens to this no one can doubt that there is something of Divine Nature in these chants....
thank you so much-as an urban monk hoping to form a new cloistered community under the rule for hermits of Francis of Assisi, this is such a help and companion for Divine Office. God bless this mission of yours.
A great find on youtube. It has been about 4 years since I left Ampleforth but hearing compline certainly brings back fantastic memories. We used to sing it every night in the boarding house which may seem unusual to those who didn't go to a religious school but it certainly allowed the house to bond. I'm amazed how easy it is to remember the words after not hearing it for 4 years.
Thank you for posting this. I have gone to an Episcopal convent for a retreat for the past two summers, and Compline was my favorite office of the day. So peaceful and calming, a great way to end the day!
My favourite Office of the day when I was on retreat there. It's a wonderful experience to share in the prayer and praise at Ampleforth. Don't miss going there if you ever have an opportunity. Blessings to all the monks as they continue the Benedictine traditions at this Abbey.
. PRAYER Father, in the new dimension of your realm, there is no "fathers", only you are our father; but we can all be brothers, sisters, mothers of Jesus, if we welcome and keep your Word; Mary was the real "mother of Jesus" because, father, always made your will; grant us to be part of your family, with a faith that US twin increasingly with Jesus Christ, your son.
Allan I join my prayer to yours that our blessed Lord guides your feet to the Ampleforth community, and that you flourish in your spriritual life, in the service to God, within this wonderful fraternity. Pax vobiscum!
The beauty of this liturgy goes beyond creed or denomination. This whole video and the work of our brother who posted it are an act of God > I remember the good old years I spent at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo California. Of course, I love how my brothers in the monastery worshio the Lord. Peace to all of those who listen to this Night Prayer.
I try to listen every night. Tonight I am in conflict but such wretches as we are Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ loves us still the more
Amen Glory to holy Trinity
Beautiful heaven must like this a taste what God has promised

Good night, folks.
No doubt, this is exquisite food for the soul! I was wondering. Where is this monastery located at? I live in Los Angeles, CA
This is so beautiful! Who composed this?
Does anyone know why this version of compline is different from that on 'Visions of Peace' the wonderful CD sung by the Monks at Ampleforth. God bless
What day specifically is this? I'd like to pray along in my breviary
what version of the Divine Office is this?
