I think, and this is only for ME, I think to truly value the animal that you harvest, you have to take it full circle. For me and my children, ( as they were growing up) helping harvest the animals gives a deeper connection to that animal- you really start appreciating that cheeseburger even more. Just going to the store to buy your meat sheilds folks from just how much is involved.
leaf mulch is amazing, I cant believe everyone in my neighborhood bags them up and sets them at the curb to get taken away. They are called LEAVES because you just leave them alone (or move them on top of your garden beds or compost piles ;) )
