We ran into your precious family at the Co-op today!! We didn't want to invade personal space or time....but as we said hello, Rebekah genuinely took her time to acknowledge us and the children were so respectful! I can't imagine what it's like to go places and total strangers recognize you and you have no idea who they are, but a kind hello and greeting was what we received! That speaks volumes for her heart and love for people! And what an example she is setting for her children!!!! If we all would take that same approach to kindness what a wonderful world this would be!!! ,♥️🥰
This long video is like a great book I don’t want to put down. I’m having to watch it over the course of a few days but I can’t get enough. I would like to consider these two guys my mentors and seeing these casual conversations between these great minds is a real treat.
I was 17, I think, when we went to the World's Fair in Montreal (late 60's). My father said, Wait till you taste the beef up here, and he let me order Filet Mignon. He was right. He said it was because their cows were grass fed and in our country, not. I have never forgotten that flavorful meal. I feel honored when I am able to buy beef from a farmer!
$1000 for a lifetime of knowledge, and the chance to avoid tons of costly mistakes, from the Grand Poobah of Homesteading and Regenarative Ag is a damn steal. Thanks for always giving us such great content, Justin!
Joel Salatin is one of my favorites, but I sure enjoyed watching Henry keeping himself entertained while riding in the car, he is such a sweetheart and a good little traveler!!!
It's true that he is getting "free information" from Joel but I'm sure that he had to pay a fee to get Joel out to his place to get this info. So really we are the ones getting the free information or at the least a good taste of what Joel is offering in his courses.
I was blessed to go to Joel's farm polyface years ago. Paid something like $20 to go on a hayride and spent almost the whole day there. Joel was there and answered questions from us for over an hour after the hayride was over. He's a wealth of information and truly loves sharing it with people! Wonderful guy! My favorite book he's written is "Pigness of the pig"
Two and a half hours of Joel Salatin imparting information. Yes please! I got to this video days after it came out because I had to make time to see it in peace. Time we'll spent!
I am so glad that when I wanted to grown my own, I found a local former and retired tulip farmer who grew organic veggies on the piece of land and greenhouse behind his house. I believe the knowledge of older folks should be part of permaculture too
I've gotta not sit around and watch this right this minute. But man I want to! I wish I could personally show each of y'all how far I've come because of you 2...and a few others on RUclips. What a time to be alive!!! Can't wait to see the rest 🌱
@@theJustinRhodesShow These long-formats are soooooo much better than the "hyper-active" vlogs. Less squealing and more info. And guests like Mr Salatin is just a fountain of wisdom and information. And as a "newbie" homesteader in Bolivia, THAT is the info I crave.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Joel is so inspirational and interesting. I don't have a good attention span because I'm always worrying about how much farm work I need to get done. We watched the whole thing, had my undivided attention. What a blessing for you to have such a mentor.
Wow, fantastic visit you guys had. So amazed to see Jonah asking such mature questions. Thanks for sharing it with us. My two favorite mentors in one place!! 🥰
Omg I don't even have land yet and Joel is making me Excited about Grass. I don't even understand everything he is talking about but I could listen to him to him all day he makes you want to understand the soil. That was how Bill Mollison was in his Permaculture courses you just want to grow something 😂❤. I am going to get his book
I’m not a rancher but here in Nevada I see several ranches that have their cattle out year around. This is in the Carson Valley, Eagle Valley, antelope Valley not far from Carson City Nevada.👍🌞
Joel is such a wealth of knowledge! Very validating for Jonah to hear he had the right ideas from Joel. I think it’s time to allow him more of a management roll on the farm. He’s a good kid!
My first intro to regen ag was Joel's Pastured Poultry Profits; next was Salad Bar Beef; then Gabe Brown's Dirt to Soil; finally Greg Judy's 3 grazing books.
2 years ago I started meat birds and at the time I didn't know who Joel was but his butcher video at a conference was the first video I watched then I watched a few more but went back and watched his video, great teacher he is. Now I've got a chicken tractor made out of a queen box spring rolling around the back yard. People thought I was crazy but I had green grass in most of the yard all winter 👍🏻👍🏻 and ready to run the following year. Justin is a great teacher as well thanks for the information you share. I bought your The rooted life book today👍🏻👍🏻
I definitely agree with Jole about running poultry on the land that needs it. We had horrible grass in our back yard. We put our meat chicken in a mobile run on our horrible grass. Everywhere we had the chickens, the grass came back lush and green.
I couldn’t believe how that grey cat followed you guys wherever you went! The dog started, but wanted attention and pets. Good info, especially on terracing and building g up areas. I’ve always enjoyed that, instinctually.
Watching that cat follow you reminds me when my little children and I would check fence. I'd be in the lead, two children, then the dog, the cats and then the goats and chickens would follow in line. Literally walking the fence with us. So one time we were near the road and this scene caught the eye of a passerby and they pointed and laughed. I looked back to see what they were looking at and realized we were quite the comical scene!
What a wonderful video! I was concerned with the land being cleared and not covered on the hill. Glad to hear Joel say something about it. I hope Justin can find enough hay to get it covered.
The hay making and replenishment of the land is a problem that Pete @JustaFewAcresFarm has dealt with every year as he is making his own hay on his farm year after year. I would love to see the two of you have a conversation.
I have read all of his books and met him on a tour of his farm! He is a great guy and a wealth of knowledge. I don’t watch you to learn. I watch for entertainment and I like seeing others living in the same way.
I absolutely ❤ how your kitty followed you and hung out with you guys everytime you stopped! "Sir" NOT Mr. Joel Salatin is a angle sent down from above and those who do not pay attention to every word he says will miss out unfortunately. Listen. Learn. Teach. Repeat.
I love Joel salatin I found him several years ago when I discovered RUclips!! I typed in gardening and I was hooked found you Jess and Joel ❤❤❤ keep your great information coming thank you
I have loved Papa Joel since his commanding presence in Food Inc. oh so long ago. When he appeared on screen, butchering chickens outside, I'm like, "He loves Jesus and has wisdom that will be known some day." He's like the grand dad of regenerative (you could say, redemptive) farming.
I relate with Justin about thinking that permaculture was just the way things were done, only to realise later just how unique and special it is. My parents have a hobby farm that was in a poor state when they purchased it. Now, 20 years later the soil is alive and the grass is thriving because of their stewardship. I didn't realise just how "hippy" they were when I was a child but am so thankful for their guidance. Now my husband and I are striving to practice permaculture on our little suburban block in Sydney, teaching our daughter the value of life, and the effort and sacrifice that goes into growing food.
In Denmark due to labor shortage/cost, they have machines in fields that the cow walks in, it sprays udder, adds feed, lines up milking device, attaches and puts milk in temp controlled tank, logs amount collected, reads id tag on cow collar, time and date stamp and how much feed. Milk is pasturized prior to collection. Expensive but totally automated.
Local Agri departments can really help you factor what soil needs and how much of whatever needs to be added per acre, plus our elder homesteaders, farmers advice like Joel.
I'm not fifty yet but a younger fella and I are getting started on a sweet little old farm, and yeah it's some work to bring forty acres back to working shape ,I really hope to get involved with the farm like a lunatic course thank you Justin great presentation
That was wonderful to watch. Love thinking about making the property and animals work for you instead of you working for the farm/property. Makes so much sense. Thank you for sharing with us all.
So thinking about liquid fertilizer alternatives to "worm pee" you could look into IBC bio digesters. They are pretty simple to make with an IBC tote or any size container, add some cow poo, add in plant matter to one end and liquid fertilizer comes out the other end. Water it down and add back to your garden (or a hay field) for an all natural fertilizer.

The cat just followed along with the group. A new show character is unlocked.

So glad you like it!
Couldn’t agree more - really enjoy this format and comparing it to a great book is Spot On!!
100%
What an excellent analogy - “like a great book I don’t want to put down.” I so agree!
I am cracking up at this cat, making sure she’s included in the whole discussion.
That little gray cat followed you all the way through the video. So cute.

I love how the cat follows them around. 😂
The legend himself. We Love Joel!
Salatin 2024 let’s goo 😮🎉
Anyone else here wish they could have a one on one session with Joel on thier own farm? I do! so cool to see these guys together
You can for a fee. He does consults, but of course it’s not free. Out of my budget for sure, lol. This was great, though. Such a wealth of knowledge.
This grass/soil analyzing is fascinating!!
$1000 for a lifetime of knowledge, and the chance to avoid tons of costly mistakes, from the Grand Poobah of Homesteading and Regenarative Ag is a damn steal. Thanks for always giving us such great content, Justin!
I could just listen to him all day and not even realize it.
I love watching Jonah taking in all this information!
Wish he could’ve asked more questions ofJoel without being interrupted.❤
Joel Salatin is one of my favorites, but I sure enjoyed watching Henry keeping himself entertained while riding in the car, he is such a sweetheart and a good little traveler!!!
Jonah, he is your legacy. He’s the one that’s interested, paying attention, he’s the one who’s going to take care of your property your legacy.
Gosh, Joel is such a good man!! I could listen/ learn from him, all day long!
Throughout the video, Justin is lobbing up to Joel to advertise his courses but Joel just keeps giving away information for free. 🤣
Why i seldom watch this channel. Sooner buy a book that i can highlight and study.
For sure!
What a great host and friend it is who tries to elevate their guest. I find no fault in that.

Billy on Perma Pastures Farm is passionate about compost tea and what it can do
I am so glad that when I wanted to grown my own, I found a local former and retired tulip farmer who grew organic veggies on the piece of land and greenhouse behind his house. I believe the knowledge of older folks should be part of permaculture too
Joël and you are much appreciated and loved!
Blessings +++!!!
I really enjoyed listening to what can improve things around your land. I think your cat was enjoying the tour as well. Blessings from Australia 🌏🦘
So funny, the cat following you through the whole video.
This is the interview we’ve all been waiting for 👍👍👍
I've gotta not sit around and watch this right this minute. But man I want to! I wish I could personally show each of y'all how far I've come because of you 2...and a few others on RUclips. What a time to be alive!!! Can't wait to see the rest 🌱
This feels like the first time i've seen Justin driving the car. I feel like on the vlog it's always Rebecca driving.
Compost tea or worm tea is amazing stuff💚
🙋🏼♀️🕊. Cog hill , put up a large scratching brush . Like they have in the car wash .
This is a Christmas and Birthday present in one!! 🎉 🎁 💝🤩
Blessing to you Justin and Joel!! ❤️❤️💗💗
Thank you for blessing us with two long format videos in a row. I love long content!🎉
Glad you like them!
Me too!!!!👍

Love this.. happy Joel’s mic kicked in eventually 😬 the sound change is amazing!
Joel gassing up Caitlin Clark just made me love him more! 😂❤
Did you catch the dad eyes going all the way to the back seat when they were driving. No words needed. Kids feel the vibe! 😮😂
Good parenting❤
I was sorry Jona didn't get yo take part in more of the conversation.
How do you know he didn't? Joel stayed there one night and we only saw the edited version.
Just loved watching this video, Joel is just an encyclopedia of information❤
Where it’s to steep you can spray with compost tea or worm casting tea💚
My 98-year-old mother milked 14 cows each morning before walking to school.
Can't you drive her to school? A 98-year old should not have to walk to school. Let her take the bus or buy her a bicycle!
@@roelandpeeters931 🙄👀🫣
Are you serious?
Joel is such a wealth of knowledge and love seeing your kids get involved. Not to be negative, but dude, you need new microphones for the wind.
Love hearing Joel talking about Uruguay. 🇺🇾. You should come visit too Justin.
So great seeing the next generation soaking up the future ❤
Three pallets around your trees would be an affordable option.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Joel is so inspirational and interesting. I don't have a good attention span because I'm always worrying about how much farm work I need to get done. We watched the whole thing, had my undivided attention. What a blessing for you to have such a mentor.

Joel Salatin pirou no rodízio! Um salve pros brasileiros homesteaders. Viva o churrasco
The organic liquid Joel is talking about would work faster because the liquid would be absorbed quicker than a granular product.
I just adore Jonah. he's so smart, intuitive, kind, respectful, thoughtful, and an amazing problem solver. that young man is going places 💗
Joel is so full of valuable information! ❤
Omg I don't even have land yet and Joel is making me Excited about Grass. Love Royal following you the whole time, you're his people.
I agree! He is not a barn cat, a house cat or yard cat, he's a farm cat that is supervising! That was a lot of territory for such a fluffy farm hand!
I’m not a rancher but here in Nevada I see several ranches that have their cattle out year around. This is in the Carson Valley, Eagle Valley, antelope Valley not far from Carson City Nevada.👍🌞
Hearing Joel talk basketball was fantastic. I always wondered if he could enjoy sports or if he was too focused on his calling.
Joel is such a wealth of knowledge! Very validating for Jonah to hear he had the right ideas from Joel. I think it’s time to allow him more of a management roll on the farm. He’s a good kid!

Justin's beautiful color grading makes Joel's "light" hair fade away lol
love the cat trying to get Joel to pat him lol hugsss
Joel, you are a hit already. I've found your videos on many channels. YES take advantage of youtube and monitize your knowledge. ❤

😂. I know right! Unfortunately I need to get back to work. Ugh!

Yes like using comfrey and nettles, it makes a great fertilizer
I loved the cat following along. Have your son drink a cup of tea or coffee. His yawning 🥱 made me exhausted.
