So Reneé left the meaning of the song Snow Angel up for interperetarion until recently when she told the story in an interview. Essentially she made friends with the wrong crowd and got into drugs a little bit and then one day she woke up at 5 am on a bathroom floor with bl00d on her legs and no memory of what happened that night. Her friends were nowhere to be found and she still has no idea what happened, and she is no longer friends with those people. She also said she doesn’t want to know what happened but she needed to write a song about it. The whole album was written until she wrote snow Angel, and it became the main single and title of the album. Knowing the meaning just reveals so much about the song and after learning what it was about, I fell even more in love with the purity, intensity, and raw nature of the song.
@@carl8218 Yes she was drugged that night but I’m pretty sure she said she had done drugs previously and after that happened she stopped, idk I might be wrong but that’s what I collected from interviews and the songs, snow angel seems to be about addiction as well as her experience, not just the experience alone.
I filmed this video about a month ago and then I moved and life got crazy... 😅 I actually get to see Renee Rapp live NEXT WEEK! I'm so excited. I was thinking of vlogging it a little and giving my thoughts afterwards. What do you guys think?
would love! i’m seeing her later in her tour so seeing just a bit of the tour before attending would be cool! also if you haven’t heard the rest of the album, would love to see your reaction to those songs as well!!
Snow Angel is amazing because it's so smart in the approach of the theme. First, the title "Snow Angel" just makes you think that it's about winter, nostalgic memories when you were making angels in the snow as a kid. You think it could be happy or sad, but also nostalgic. Then the music video appears as it's winter, there's a lot of snow and it's like she just woke up from a long sleep and then seasons have passed and it's winter. And after that you listen to the song, by the lyrics you know that it's totally not what you thought it would be. She's talking about making it through the winter, that it could kill her, and you understand that the whole song is a metaphor for drugs, especially cocaine. "I feel it in the tip of nose" --> literally how you take the drug, you sniffles it (hope this term is used correctly, I'm not English). Then the "it's white outside but red underneath" is about the fact that the drug is white but once it's in your nose, it bleeds. And I find it really amazing the way she wrote a song about addiction without using any term other than 'addiction' in the bridge. She let the doubt plan a little, before confirming that yes, it's about drug. I've rarely seen a song that develops so well a metaphor all along!
the main stroy behind this song is yes about drugs but about the time that she got drugged one time. jay shetty has an interview with renee, you should watch it, its really good.
I believe it's actually a stand-in for "Sexual Assault," referring to the time she was date raped and woke up not knowing where she was. So not quite addiction, but the lyrics can definitely apply that way!
@@randoperson5190 We're saying the same thing. I don't think she came right out and said it, but she blacked out for the night after being drugged and woke up in a room she wasn't familiar with. I unfortunately doubt that someone would drug another person, take them to their hotel room and just leave them be until they woke up :( But yes, awful people in both cases
first time i heard 'snow angel' it fckd me up so much, especially the bridge - even now i still shed a tear; the voice, the lyrics and the visuals are just stunning. and the insta video really is spotlighting her vocals. also hannah if you want more sapphic content from renee then she plays a really fun lesbian character in 'the sex lives of college girls' 👀
THIS IS WHAT I'M SAYING! I realize I'm only 8 months late to this party but that was exactly my comment to Hannah. "In the Kitchen" is my favorite track on the record.
I’ve loved Renee Rapp from her Mean Girls days, her rendition of World Burn is my favorite. To see her getting the recognition she deserves now is so amazing.
Renee is damn talented and very smart (is my take) impressive vocabulary and cool vibes. She’s FANTASTIC in the show College Girls. Her acting and facial expressions are top shelf.
Watching this after Billie dropped hit me hard and soft with all the dramatic power belting and feeling so happy my two fave sapphics are just winning the world 😭❤️🔥
I said this in another video, but I think you would love Renee's EP and now, her debut album! Even though you don't do album reactions, I think you would love both her projects!
This is random but your setup with all the pops of color is so vibrant and beautiful. Especially with your skin tone and hair color! Anyway, I love Renee she’s very talented
Also I'm so glad Renee is finally getting the attention and credit she deserves. I saw her on Broadway as Regina George and she was absolutely incredible. (AND SHE WAS ONLY 19 WHEN SHE PLAYED HER).
Renee deserves everything istg i heard her live and got to meet her at a little private showcase at universal and she's EVERYTHING. SO relatable, SO funny, SO talented and SO sweet she still managed to interact with us even though she was incredibly tired and exhausted.
Oh my god. The fact that my favorite youtubers/reaction channels are reacting to Renée's projects IS THE BEST FOR ME. I LOOOOVE HER SO MUCH, SHE IS SO TALENTED 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
OMG i don’t even know when i asked you to react to renee again for snow angel (it was a bunch of artists i included- gracie, renee, sabrina, ethel, and some others lol)… i’m SO happy this is back- you should also react to i hate boston and/or tummy hurts, her vocals took me to church. okay now i’m talking too much, i’ve been here since musical theatre days i’m so happy to see you and renee back 🙏🏽
You should totally react to Lawrence’s Don’t Lose Sight (Acoustic) video! Or really any of their acoustic versions. They’re a brother/Sister duo and she has a powerhouse voice you need to hear!
I'm so into Renee Rapp right now - loving catching up on some of her older stuff and your reaction videos have been so fun! I'm mad I somehow missed both of the ones you did on Renee because I could have known about this amazing woman AGES ago. I love both of these songs but I'd love you to react to "In the Kitchen" - not only is that arguably my favorite song on the record (the lyrics are FANTASTIC) but the myriad of ways she uses her voice on that track is AMAZING. Soft, loud, subtle, belting, mixing, breathy......it's bananas.
Omg I'm so happy to see this. I love her. She is such a great singer and I love her so much. I'm going to her live next month, by myself, I got floor tickets and gonna cross my fingers I don't get crushed in a mosh. Snow angel is my love of life I listen to it on repeat. She's blowing up and I'm proud of her!🥹
I was searching for this video yesterday!! So glad you are reacting to this album. It literally broke me Also how does makeup alaways look so amazing?!
More Reneee Rapp!! My favs are Pretty Girls, In the Kitchen, Colorado, Bruises, Everything to Everyone, Going to see her in October, can't wait!! Also do reaction to her in Sex Lives of College Girls in DaddyHannah!
You should react to her NEW Regina George moments, since she now plays in the movies it would be awsome for you to see her progress from the old "World Burn" to now. (And obviously some other mean girl songs, they're awsome!)
Thk you Hannah because I didn't know this incredible artist!!! Snow angel is sooo beautiful ❤️ gonna change the way I listen to some songs. I will always love your reactions and your videos. 💋 From France.
personally i think the distortion in snow angel was her getting really up close to the microphone bc of how intense and emotional this experience was for her and they kept it in to convey that
The thing you said about damaging the throat made me think of how my throat is damaged and it isn't just physically painful, but emotionally painful and exhausting. My throat was damaged by my stomach acid. It's so damaged and raw. It bleeds easily. On top of that, I've needed several surgeries throughout my life and after my throat was damaged, every time they put the breathing tube in, it tore up my throat more. I can't sing for more than half a minute to a minute without it causing so much pain that I end up talking the song out most of the time. I love singing. Singing was like breathing to me. I was taking vocal lessons for opera. My vocal instructor told me she had quit teaching students opera because she was getting too old and just didn't have the energy anymore, but after a few sessions with her, she said that she really loved my voice and thought I had a lot of potential and I really love opera. I also really love learning the breathing techniques and how to make my voice hit different pitches and learning other things that I can't remember the names of at the moment, lol. It has been extremely emotionally painful not being able to sing anymore, I think more so than it is physically. I completely stopped singing for almost 2 years because it made me so depressed. I'm trying to get back into it, but it's really difficult. On rare occasions, my throat doesn't hurt as bad, and I can get through a full song, so I'm holding out hope that I can begin singing full songs more frequently. My voice may never be as pretty as it used to be either, but maybe I can get close.
I discovered you and Reneé because of your original video reacting to her! Been waiting for this! Please react to her album!!! Have been a fan of you both ever since. :) I’ve seen her once and got 3 more shows to see her in London!

Didnt she say she got drugged ? That's quite different than "getting into drugs"
@@sarahb.4909 yeah
She said she was drugged and missing for 7 hours-not got into drugs
@@carl8218 Yes she was drugged that night but I’m pretty sure she said she had done drugs previously and after that happened she stopped, idk I might be wrong but that’s what I collected from interviews and the songs, snow angel seems to be about addiction as well as her experience, not just the experience alone.
Let's not spread misinformation, she was drugged, not into drugs. She's done them, but this was not a case of that.
I filmed this video about a month ago and then I moved and life got crazy... 😅 I actually get to see Renee Rapp live NEXT WEEK! I'm so excited. I was thinking of vlogging it a little and giving my thoughts afterwards. What do you guys think?

It will definetly respond to the “not enough gay tension” feedback hahah 😜
Her SNL performance of Snow Angel was a great showcase of her vocals 🫣 it's so good

I would really love an acoustic version of the snow angel album. Her voice and control are so incredible and beautiful. I love her
I’d recommend ‘The last dinner party - nothing matters’ if you want to hear them live, then their performance with Jools Holland is great.
I agree, Snow Angel would be literally perfect if they didn't add that filter on her voice. But still mind-blowing
In The Kitchen by Renee is in my top 5 all time songs
Please please react to her SNL performance of this 😭🙏
