3:33 The point at which you tackle the mountain ridges along the Big Athens Fork section of the trail depends on both the direction you go, but also where you start on the trail. There are multiple trail heads from which you can start. If you start at West Blaylock Creek, which is right in the middle of the ridges on BAF, you get half of the peaks on your first day and the other half on your last day regardless of the direction you go. 5:00 If you have excess water in your meal, you can walk away from your camp (at least 100 feet, but probably a bit further is better) and 200 feet from any water source, dig a cat hole, strain your meal into the cat hole, then bury it. Good hiking. It's an amazing trail.
Nice video, I’ve been wanting to try backpacking, thinking of doing the lone star trail at the Sam Houston national Forrest in Texas , hopefully in 2024. I’ll check out your gear video
Awesome job. I’ll be going out there in a couple months. I did this trail a few years ago for my first backpacking trip as well. Definitely a rough one for a first timer. Had me questioning my decisions, but it’s started a hobby for me that I love.
*_Hello Ben... going on an adventure trip in the wilderness with 6 adventurous friends is certainly very memorable, especially as they also really enjoy the trip with you Ben...... I like your channel.... nice to meet you, Rudy Tutorial Outdoor from Indonesia_* 👣⛰🏕🍛☕💯👌👍👏🤝🙏

I made the loop in 13 hours about 5 weeks ago. It was hard. The footing is treacherous in so many places. And dang! It was hot!
Great video! Nice shots!!

That trail is no freaking joke. Went in the clockwise direction last year and literally almost died.
The trip that ruined chicken fajita nachos forever!
