A very enjoyable video. I totally agree, that would be an awesome hike and wouldn't want to rush it and miss all the wonderful scenery. I'm gonna have to add this one to my bucket list. Dwayne
Hey Mark ,good to see you out again! Great video! I also use Picardin and Permetherin. Just want to make sure you know that "Permethrin is highly toxic to fish and other animals that live in either salt water or fresh water. Permethrin is low in toxicity to birds, but some aerosol products made with permethrin may also contain other ingredients that can harm birds if they inhale it. Permethrin is highly toxic to bees and other beneficial insects."- National Pesticide Information Center. I treat my gators, but take them off if crossing through water. Something to be aware of.
Awesome video! Your videos on this trail were extremely helpful for me planning my trip. I just finished going clockwise from W Blaylock Trailhead. Absolutely beautiful scenery and weather!
Hey Mark, good to see another video from you! I just started watching but I couldn't help but laugh about when you said you had to cancel hiking in Colorado due to the snow. I live on the west slope in Colorado and I still haven't made it out for a proper trip. I moved over here from Denver in January and can't wait to get out. Hopefully you can find some other time to swing by again, it's truly an incredible state to experience nature. Haven't got through your video yet but I hope things are better for you now. Keep up the great videos, this one has been great so far.
That was a very nice video you made, love this beautiful land. I have three brothers that live just north of their on 15 Acres on top of a mountain near Marshall Arkansas a couple of miles from the Buffalo River. And I live in Hollister Missouri just across from Branson. I moved to this beautiful place about 8 years ago from North Central Illinois and wow what a beautiful difference in my life. We all just love kind of bushwhacking through the mountains discovering new places that I think maybe no one's ever seen before.
Thanks Richard! I appreciate the kind words. I like getting out off the beaten path as well. The first time we did this loop the river was too high and dangerous and we took to bushwhacking and had an amazing adventure!
Great video, I just came back this week for the first time on that trail it was awesome. Love all those gears you were showing I definitely need an upgrade my gear is too heavy I'm looking into light backpacking oriented gears any suggestions? Thanks for uploading this video I watched it with my wife today and I instantly got the green light for better gear 😂😂😂
Dang, I'm actually going to hike this trail tomorrow morning. Was just checking to see if you had any new videos that I could download and watch and sure enough. Great to see a new video from you and I look forward to seeing this.
@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 Lots of rain, I ended up bailing at Albert Pike and tried hitching a ride back to my truck but the road getting there was flooded over. Lori from blue bell said she will drive me back tomorrow morning to hopefully get my truck if it stops raining for a bit. At least we are dry in a hotel now.
I have backpacked ERL so many times I'm *almost* bored with it. I did it 26 times in 2019 cause I was going to go to the AT in 2020. Glad the rest of the world is starting to catch on.
Seeing this video really made me want to head out there! Do you recommend hiking this trail at the end of July? Would it be too hot, too crowded? What is your opinion
Outdoor Pantry makes the BEST biscuits and gravy on the planet. It's just a shame they're still using those narrow bags, makes for stirring a a challenge.

It's one of the best in the area, without a doubt! Just check the water levels.
Thanks for the video. Going to hit this trail soon. Always looking for recommended trails in the Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri states.

We did the ERL in December of 2020. Man, that is such an awesome loop! If it wasn't a 12 hour drive for me, I'd probably go there every year.
I order both brands, I have about 20 meals from both. I order in bulk. It also make a great Hurricane food kit. So I use them for both.
Nice to see you out.... DThat trail is definitely better than anything here in Ohio. Just started the video and had to say that. lol
Thanks Alex! It was GREAT to get out!

One of the best trails in this area of the country, you sir are not wrong about that!
would you mind sharing where you parked? ~11mi from winding stair? Which direction?
I didn't see any Thai chicken curry on the Outdoor pantry website. They did have Thai style chicken soup.
Yeah, that’s the one!
Looks like you guys are packed light and moving quickly.

Are those the Altra Loan Peak 6? How do you feel they handled drying out from the water crossings?

What's the best one night for a beginner , thx
try Next Mile meals…Excellent and Keto if that’s your thing. Stowaway gourmet is another excellent option. Haven’t tried peak yet
Nice not having to carry more than 1 bottle of water.
For sure!
