Rose (from Rusty Lake Roots) was in contact with the spirit of Mr Crow's brother (her great great grandfather I believe) and wanted to help him come back to life. Spoilers for the end of Rusty Lake roots, by the end she does a lot of alchemy magic and creates a new reincarnation of her great great grandfather who she gives birth to and raises as her daughter named Laura. Laura is then one of the main/important characters of the Cube Escape games and somehow tied to White Door (given that Sarah from White Door was trying to erase her). I believe in this game you are playing as the Great Grandfather's spirit (as his soul was corrupted due to the elixir) and you're trying to find your way back to life. But that end part is just my guess.
i'm not gonna lie...i thought he already did...or at least played a few of them. .-. edit: although tbf, they ARE releasing the Cube Escape games onto Steam at some point later this year, so maybe Jesse's waiting for that?
@@horatio_lionheart if he has, I don't think he ever recorded it (or at least not posted it on RUclips). He also doesn't recognize characters/scenes in the rusty lake games that are also from Cube Escape.

I really would love to see Jessie play the Cube Escape games one day especially since he ends up so confused about the lore a lot of the answers are in those games.
Weird coincidence, I only just played this game myself. Nice to see you play through this right after. I hadn't tried any Rusty Lake games before this, so I ended up checking out their other games, like the entire Cube Escape series. Overall I like them, but I do sometimes have a problem with the logic or pixel hunting. Arles, The Mill, Birthday, and Theatre I think were the ones I liked the most out of them. Those made sense to figure out and had a nice flow and clever puzzles.
Never before have I ever watched a grown man struggle SO much with telling the time. Every single time he looked at the clock he got the time wrong somehow. Good Lord, Jesse.
Crazy theory that I’m pretty much only saying a joke: the Rusty Lake series is a prequel to D and they’re all vampires (evidence: both have a blonde woman named Laura)
Wasn't this on notdoppler or armor games or something? I know I've played this before when I was younger, going into the dead dude's mouth freaked the hell out of me
*1:* NGL, that little lizard is cute as hell. *2:* Old naked man falling out of a clock? Yup. I guess that's far for the course in Rusty Lake. *3:* "So I can fill up the water from the Fish World..." Yup. Such is life in Rusty Lake. *4:* And now we become the worm, travel down an old man's throat and enter the woods? Yup. That's Rusty Lake for you. *5:* Worm + Heart = Gecko + Fish. Yup. Rusty Lake. *6:* You ever take a knife to the Moon, only to find that it's got a big eye? Yup. When that happens, you know you're in Rusty Lake. *7:* So you've fed a worm, a heart, a fish and a gecko to a stork, and it coughs up a wee bab. Yup. Do you think you're NOT in Rusty Lake? *8:* Okay, so I think that girl was the one from Rusty Lake Roots, who performed the resurrection of- AH. Now I get it. This was all about the rebirth of William Vanderboom. *9:* By your powers combined, he is sleeping inside of a giant shrimp! Yup. Still in Rusty Lake. *10:* Pretty sure that "symbol" is in Sanskrit. And given how it was mentioned that samsara was a Sanskrit word, I'd hazard a guess that that word on the wall is samsara. After all, I haven't seen any other pieces of Sanskrit. *11:* ...I sure do hope that Nick Nocturne's gonna do a video on this series. It seems like it'd be right up his alley.
@PatLo Roldan Too right. It's been a while since Nick's covered a game on the channel. Hell, the last game-related thing I saw was the Chaotic Fiction livestream where he had fun with A.I Dungeon. That, and his coverage of the Chip Time webseries about a haunted DOS game. Even though the Rusty Lake/Cube Escape franchise is still ongoing, I feel like Nick could probably give some concise insight into what's going on with "the story so far".
These games are nuts :D Hoper you will play the Cube Escape games as well, now they are getting re-released on steam somewhat beefed up and shiny Argh, those Rusty lake ARG's are driving me crazy :D So obscure.
I had this advertised to me when I downloaded the arcana and I did not want to try it Lmao. Thanks for playing it Jesse so I can experience second hand fear instead lol
Wait... So Laura is the Women From the White Door, who is also the reincarnation of William? And she has memories of the Hotel, which she draws in a book with the Tree on the cover? And the White Room's manager wants her for her memories (They showed They can extract it from people). So who is Sarah, does she Works for the Vanderboom family, and is The Manager searching for the secret to the Elixir?
I've come to notice that Jesse looks like my stepdad... But then again slap a big ginger beard on a jolly white guy with glasses and they start to look the same.
i got this answer from reddit and i can confirm as a player that it's a great order! Cube Escape: Seasons Cube Escape: The Lake Cube Escape: Arles Cube Escape: Harvey's Box Cube Escape: Case 23 Cube Escape: The Mill Rusty Lake Hotel Cube Escape: Birthday Cube Escape: Theatre Rusty Lake: Roots Cube Escape: The Cave Rusty Lake Paradise Rusty Lake: Paradox hope you enjoy :)
10 minutes in, and I've already seen Jesse click the bold outlined bubble, then the same, already seen to be wrong bubble, six times. Currently wondering if the hour long playtime is another 50 minutes of this same move. Have you been breaking Quarantine, Jesse? 'Cause yesterday I saw a Scary Game Squad video, and today you seen to have contracted Jirard Syndrome.
Man, the people that don't know how to read "military time" (or for the rest of the world, 24-hour standard) is baffling to me. Jesse is apparently one of them. After 12:00 (noon), just subtract 12 from the hours and it will give you the 12-hour format time, or clockface times. 14:00 - 12 = 2 pm.
Watching you play this makes me want to reccomend Cultist Simulator to you so badly. Its essentially a reading sim, so its perfect for a Lore Nerd like you!

If Rusty Lake is about anything, it's about exploring the bodies of old men.
