      I wonder more about the recovery they never show. How quick does your body recover? What is the food you take? Do fat people recover better or worse? Do you exercise during recovery to the fight?

      Isnt it much easier to cut weight if you have muscular body type with low fat percentage ,this guy in the video is fat so the reaction just makes sense .muscle contain more water so its easier to be drained for weigh-in

    Shout to Sweet for going through this. And I agree with daddy Thompson, weight cutting should not be done. No one gets an advantage. If we didn't have this process, we would get healthier fighters and better fights.

      This is why many wrestling leagues changed to day of weigh ins. I use to get a weigh in 12 hours before I would wrestle. Matches start 8am Saturday and I would hit the scale 8pm Friday night. Worst part was I was such a lightweight I didn’t have anyone in my division most times I would wrestle up about 10lbs worst was 30lbs

      @@tjboylan20 in this case if someone doesn't make weight there is no time to change fighters. So the fight ends up happening anyways. One fc tried to end weight cutting, but as you can see issues like these make it so that any attempt to stop it so far is completely rendered null and moot

    Would have been cool to see him do a strength test(squat/bench/dead/etc) before the start of the cut and the day after. Some type of gauge to see how the weight cut really affected him.

      Ya you could see the first 4 days it was fun and WB was having a good time but then the last 3 days he switched to concerned and making sure everything was okay and that T was feeling well.

    I did a 12 lbs cut in two weeks for a fight once and I thought THAT was rough. All respect to Sweet T, Wonderboy and all fighters who do this on a regular. And big up to Papa T!

      I am about to do 19.6 pounds in 11 days. It's going to awful. I messed up the past 3 days. I partied 2 days straight. Gained 9 pounds. I hate weight cuts

      ​@@stellabrown909 i had to cut from about 163 to 156 for an amateur mma fight the other week, like 7 or 8 pounds. Was super easy, i lost it all in about 2 hours just taking a hot bath, i was kinda waterloading before maybe a gallon a day. Idk how much i could lose if i tried but i lost 10 pounds the morning of weigh ins easy and had room to drink some

    I've done a peak week weight cut a few times for bodybuilding competitions and it's incredible watching your body literally dry out. It really takes next level mental resilience. Can't imagine fighting the next day. Nothing but respect.

    Yeah it sucks. Sorta had to figure it out myself for my first fight. I dropped 21 pounds and had never intentionally dropped a pound in my life. I walked around about 155 and fought at 135. Dieted a little and I was obviously in the gym. Then the sauna did the rest(with sauna suit). That was the most shocking part to me. I was sitting down for most of my time in the sauna and a pool of sweat had formed in my lap without noticing. So when I went to get up this large amount of sweat hit the floor like I dropped a jug of water.

    I went from 272 to 263 in 1 twenty minute session in the sauna. I didn't even waterload I just naturally sweat like a crazy

    You should have had him do a hard hard sparring session for 25 mins at either Muay Thai or BJJ before starting this and also the following day after the cut and see how he feels it affected his ability to perform

    I cut 40lb for my first pro fight. It's now my only loss out of my 4 fights. Never cutting that much again and I only did it at my coaches request/demand. If you see this comment Steven, could you let me know if you think 40lb is too much? I try to tell my coach but he seems to think it's normal for pro's to cut that.

    That was a great video. It really brings home how crazy weight cutting is. To go through that then expect to perform at your best is nuts. 🤯
