I built this glowing mummy in 1970 or so. I wrapped the figure in dried gray strips of gray cloth that was soaked in black water color paint. I was 11 years old. Haha. I still have the kit.
The Mummy Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Dracula. I did them all as a young boy. I would have to do this with Testors tube glue for nostalgia. 😊👍
I always enjoy these kinds of kits because of their novelty, the way you can detail paint them and in some cases the working features. Nice to see one on the channel again; it's been a while.
Looks great, Chris! I built this kit back in the '90s when I was heavily into figure and "garage kits" (remember those?). Mine is still sitting here on my shelf with the rest of the Universal Monster kits I built back then. Among the Universal Monsters kits, this was one of my favorites. I also remember that it went together super easily and needed very little sanding/filling in the seams. I'm really glad they are continuing to re-release these old kits. Thanks for sharing, and have a great week. -David
Super cool build! Nice work using the free built in blending tools- fingers!! Alot of fun to watch. I have a Frankensteins monster to build and you gave me alot of ideas! Thanks!
I built about 8 of the monster kits as a kid. The mummy was my favorite. It was gray so I just black washed the whole kit. It turned out pretty good. Fun time down memory lane. Thanks.
Mummies did bleed back in the day! everyone remembers they were filled with Hershey's chocolate!! Wonderful build Chris! Loving these old figure kits!! Keep em coming- before the mummy comes for you!!!!
I really like it when you make figure kits, the Mummy model looks great. I built it last year along with the Wolfman glow in the dark model kit from Atlantis. The Frankenstein and Dracula glow in the dark model kits are supposed to come out either late this year or early next year from Atlantis. I can't wait to build them.
I built the Mummy kit way back in the mid'60's. My older brother built the Dracula kit. 👍The eyes of the Mummy seemed to follow me when I walked through the room. Scared the heck out of me! 🤣
GREAT LOOKING MUMMY I M GLAD TO SEE THE OLD KITS BEINGING REMASTEREDI OWN ALL THESE KITS BACK IN THE EARLY DAYS OF YESTERYEAR.AND THEY ONLY COST $2.00 DOLLARS EACH .FOR $10.00 YOU COULD BUY PAINTS AND GLUEAND ONE OF THESE KITS.AND HAVING A GREAT SATURDAY AFTERNOON FROM CUTTING GRASS TO EARN MONEY TO BUY THESE KITS THE GOOD OLD DAYS 63 YRS AND STILL MODELING IN THIS WONDERFUL HOBBY GREAT VIDEOS I ENJOY THEM ALL.
Hey Chris! This and the Bride of Frankenstein were the only Aurora monster models from the 1960s that were a faithful reproduction of the actor playing the monster. All the other kits were loose interpretations of the character. Box art illustrator James Bama used studio stills of the monsters but none of the kits looked like his paintings until they gave him prototypes of the mummy and the creature. Lon Chaney was the mummy in 3 films...The Mummy's Tomb, The Mummy's Curse, and The Mummy's Ghost. And that's a wrap. Oooooh, bad pun.
Got one just like it. I used a sparkle pigment on the sand. I didn't use the glow in the dark parts. I have all the main monsters. My favorite is Frankenstein's monster.
I built this kit a few years ago to take a bit of a break from autos and aircraft. I also did the kit in black and white monochrome. The way the actual movie was filmed.
Lon Chaney played the Mummy in. The Mummy's Tomb (1942) The Mummy's Curse (1944) The Mummy's Ghost (1944) Whereas Boris Karloff played the Mummy in. The Mummy (1932)
Officially licensed? Looks more like Mr Roberts than Lon Chaney!!!! I have all the re-pops of these Aurora monster kits apart from Frankenstein (ok, I have the Luminator version but, as they are virtually unbuildable if you don'tlike seams, I'm not counting it!) and have heard that this one won't be re-released due to the cost of licensing (Karloff estate?). Given that the kit also looks nothing like the actor, Atlantis should pick one of the lesser Frankenstein films and get a licence from that actor AT A FRACTION OF THE COST!!!!!! 😊
Sorry Chris i'm going to be pedantic, sanskrit is Assyrian I think the Iraq/Iran area. Your thinking hieroglyphics which was ancient egyptian. The actual model is well done, hope to see a few more non auto models
Nice job Chris!! Love the old monster kits!!! Reminds me of my childhood from Aurora and going to the dime stores to get all the monsters!
I figured this was a repackaged Aurora kit.
Brings back memories, and now with new, but easily learned, skills to finish figures. Do it your way!
Nice Mummy! Great job. Can tell you have a lot of fun with figure kits. Thanks for the review. 😎

My favorite kits you do are the monster and pirate figure kits!
Wow, I remember my brother making the glow in the dark kit way back in the 1970s
I remember that Mummy Kit. I love the old kits, that's what I most like to do. Love seeing they reissued.

Way cool mummy kit Chris. great job on this build.

Just got this kit. Super excited to start it tonight! 💀
I just built that Drag Nut last summer.I wasn't aware the RatFink was available.
Got one just like it. I used a sparkle pigment on the sand. I didn't use the glow in the dark parts. I have all the main monsters. My favorite is Frankenstein's monster.
Nicely Done!
You did a lot of painting and that's what I like to see with the figure kits! 😅👍 Would like to see you do the same with the Rat Fink!
I built this kit a few years ago to take a bit of a break from autos and aircraft. I also did the kit in black and white monochrome. The way the actual movie was filmed.
Lon Chaney played the Mummy in.
The Mummy's Tomb (1942)
The Mummy's Curse (1944)
The Mummy's Ghost (1944)
Whereas
Boris Karloff played the Mummy in.
The Mummy (1932)
Before painting do you have to sandThe brush on glue you are using ?
Great build Chris. The symbols on the stones are hieroglyphs; Sanskrit is an ancient Indian language.
Use the glow in the dark cobra as a prop next to the 427 Cobra that you built 5 months ago.
Sanskrit? Maybe hieroglyphics in ancient Egypt. Nevertheless, I enjoy the builds. Keep them coming.
I was 6 yrs old when I built the mummy looked terrible but I tried that was 61 years ago
Officially licensed? Looks more like Mr Roberts than Lon Chaney!!!!

I have that model but I didn't build it it was already built it's one of those that they put in the windows it's already painted as well
I built the Mummy model back in 1963 but it was not the glow in the dark one.
Sorry Chris i'm going to be pedantic, sanskrit is Assyrian I think the Iraq/Iran area. Your thinking hieroglyphics which was ancient egyptian. The actual model is well done, hope to see a few more non auto models
What's on the stones are meant to be hieroglyphics. Sanskrit is the language of Hinduism.
Look closely. One of the symbols is a guy building a model.
LOL the closest I see to that on the original is a figure seated at a chair but I can't see that it's building a model...@@kennethkwilinski4899
All I could see that might be close on the original, was a figure sitting at a table. Is this what you meant?
