I bought 3 and already took one apart for upgrades. Here is what I have found so far. It looks to have a 3 wire micro servo, but with a nonstandard plug on the end. I plan to swap out the plug and see if it will plug into a standard receiver. Getting at the rear diff and motor threw me for a loop at first. Very easy to remove the rearend from the car, but it took a while to figure out how to split the rear axel case apart. Turns out you have to remove the rear wheels. They are molded so well they look like one solid piece, but they aren't. If you take a small flathead screwdriver, you can pry out the center cap (where the fake captive nut is) Under that cap is a Phillips screw that holds on the wheel to what I believe is approx a 7mm hex. I haven't measured it yet. Then you can split the rear diff case, and you will find a 380 sized brushed motor, mounted 90° to the rear axel. It will probably take a 2s lipo. I plugged it directly into a 2s lipo that was a storage voltage, and it ran for at least 30 secconds before i unplugged it. My first plan is to just drop in a Hobbywing 1060 ESC, and I found a 800mah 2s lipo that fits in the original battery box from hobbyking. If the gears hold up to that, I'll try a more powerful brushed 380 sized motor next. As for suspension, it seems it would at least be pretty easy to modify the way the rear axel mounts to the chasis to allow it to pivot similar to the old tamiya F1 or pan car setup. As for the front, some small springs on the king pins is my best solution so far. Although there is a lot of play in the way the current front wheels are mounted. Hope this helps! Good luck with your modifications everyone!
I have a soft spot in my heart for Costco RC’s. They aren’t really very good, but they were the gateway RC’s for my addiction. I am always on the lookout come November.
WAY back in the day when Tamiya built F1 r/c cars the front suspension was a simple spring in the pivot for the steering arm. The wheel hub had extended arms top and bottom and the top had a small spring in it. Might be a way to quickly add suspension on this. BUT it's the bones of a whole bunch of upgrades. Even if you just use the shell and mount it all on a flat FRP chassis it's worth the $50. You can't buy a body kit for that.
I’ve got a buddy that takes those better toy grade RC’s and puts a motor/esc/shocks ect… and actually makes them cool. That car looks like a great candidate for a few upgrades👍🏻
It's definitely toy grade and for$50 even from Costco I wouldn't expect much with all the licensed logos on it. It's huge and at $50 it'll be an excellent display piece. The 1:18 diecast is more expensive than this expensive
That driving footage reminded me of the first driving video of the Primal Hellcat before they came to their senses and put suspension on it. At least this one has an excuse to drive like a Costco toy, lol. It's great to sit on a shelf and be pretty if you're into that. There's no way you'll ever grab that over any other car in the collection to go drive tho.
Honestly, I'm disappointed it doesn't have at least a little bit for suspension. I could imagine this car not handling standard asphalt in front of most homes well. Otherwise it looks amazing, practically show quality.
At 12 mph. Suspension is a waste of money. Maybe a slightly faster can and batteries will be nice. But $50! A Kyosho mini z will cost you $140 at 1:18 and not much faster.
Rc cars have been on my mind lately. Also a bug fan of F1. Costco is also great. This seems like the perfect trifecta. Will check em out. Even though this is toy grade, im very new to the rc world. Would this toy be a good candidate to customize and try to add suspension or is it just not worth the time/effort. I bet it would look good just as a model as well. Thanks for the content.
@@uknowmyname007 Got a link for it? Search words? I went there and the only 1:10th I found was this exact model but much more expensive, 135€. Found some 1:12th ones, with drivers, with other liveries besides RB, for 50-60€.

My car drifts to the right when I try to drive straight but when I moved the steering trim all the way it still goes right and if I move it to the other side it practically does a 180. Any tips on how to fix it?
I just opened the one I bought for my son and the remote control loses connection after about 15 seconds. Its a bummer as my son was super excited to use it. Does anyone have any experience with the same issue or know of any way to troubleshoot? Thanks.
That's really cool, I would get one if its ever available here. I bet he is the only person to use an RC car as in my neighborhood, nobody plays with these. The young men play basketball, not with toys.
I bought one of each before they all disappeared and put them away for Christmas...or until I break down and open them early under the guise of needing to make them brushless and modify them to accept a real servo...
So many people have sent me the link to this the past couple days. Thanks for reviewing. As an F1 and RC fan, its gonna be one to pick up even just if it just sits on the shelf.
That’s what I was thinking when I bought it. Run it around for a video. Then put it on the shelf behind my computer in my office because it looks great.
I bought one but it came without a battery in the car (someone might have stolen it) could you possibly send me the battery info so I could find one on Amazon or something?
The Cadillac from Forza Motorsport RC vehicles go exactly like this one , I bought the Tesla Roadster from a Costco but it’s for my kiddo for December but I’m not sure how it will go maybe the same who knows
They are not at any of the Costco’s in San Diego, nor are they on the Costco website or app. I even called their member services and they couldn’t find it.☹️
That really looks good for the money and looks great for a toy grade RC.
I would have been pretty happy with that as a kid.
Yup, happy with it as a toy grade RC. With it in Costco, hopefully it hooks people to transition to hobby grade.
Totally! I'd go nuts over it if I had it as a kid (and I've always been more of an off-road type of vehicle).
I know you live in Washington and RC driver too. I was at the store and Saturday I wanted it.
