- We were able to catch our Kune Kune having piglets!! It took us awhile but we were in the farrowing barn when it took place. We don't like to intervene or interfere but the temperature was below freezing and we wanted to make sure the piglets were dry and warm enough. Sassy delivered 7 healthy piglets!! She is a great Momma and is really careful when laying down to nurse so that she doesn't lay on any piglets! These are registered Kune kune piglets and we are excited to share the birthing with you guys!!

I remember watching your videos specifically when we started our KuneKune adventure a couple of years ago, now we have two mama's due in a week. We just finished building our farrowing area and are going to move them in tomorrow. Thanks for all the great advice.

Before cleaning the piglet's body, you must clean its mouth. because the baby piglets need to breathe first. good luck to you
We are very serious about getting some of these. Had the big pigs that got up to 600 lbs. was hard for me to butcher. Will be raising for food and babies.
We have only raised Kunes so I can’t compare to other breeds but we wanted something smaller that wasn’t destructive and this breed is amazing.

We are preparing for our 1st litter of kunekune piglets due in September. Can you tell me more about preparation for them & immediate care/help following birth & a couple of weeks afterward?
We just make sure we have towels, heat lamp, and some hay or nest material for mama. Some people give iron shots to piglets on day 3 we don’t. We worm piglets at 8 weeks

We’ve got our first bred gilt, but no clue when she’s due because she’s been with the boar for several months (no signs of breeding, we thought she was rejecting him all this time).

We breed for meat, breeders, and pets
Which kune kune pig registry are you using ? I guess there are two. Do you know if one is better than the other ? Ours are American KuneKune Pig Registry. Do you know why kune kunes aren't registered with a regular swine registry ? Is it because some people keep them as pets ? The babies being born was awesome !!
AKPR is privately owned while AKKPS is member owned. AKPR doesn’t allow unwattled pigs to be registered but you can dual register with AKKPS if that helps.. AKKPS does currently allow unwattled registrations...mine are AKKPR but I intend to double register. Neither are perfect as nothing really is.

We don’t ever cut the cord it will dry up and fall off in a couple days

What is her feeds intake a day
We feed the pigs 2 cups of feed twice a day. Once they have piglets we up their feed
