2001-2006 Were the Golden Years of College BBall (My team was always Duke) but those teams from that Era were legendary UNC/MARYLAND/DUKE/INDIANA/MICH/SYRACUSE etc. Those teams were playing for something
Yes. This is why for me too. There is no process or strong rivalries involved anymore. You don't get to see nothing like those 2 years from the Fab 5 and their matchups with the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Kentucky-Duke rivalries or seeing Grant Hill develop at Duke from a role player on the 91 championship team to the main guy and reaching that championship game again in his last year. When it's 1 and done for the stars, even if the schools don't like each other, the energy is different because the players don't get multiple battles over multiple years. It's hard to get very invested in that as a fan.
The problem with sports in general is that they have gotten to the point where it’s a waiting period before the playoffs. Instant gratification society, get to the show.
Yea the playoffs are just so much better then the regular season especially for the nba. Regular season in the NFL is good but the regular season for the nba is just irrelevant ppl just look at the box scores and move on. And the stars getting injured or sitting out makes the games so boring sometimes
@@Hakeemthabeen888 i agree, i was watching a 2nd rd game over the weekend, and it honestly looked like a high school boys basketball game. The 1st half score was something like 26-17. I just don't think the talent at the college level is what it used to be.
I used to miss work or school to watch the tournament. It's not the same since players started leaving early though, and I get why they do it. I haven't watched In years though.
Wtf is Rob talking about. Chris is right, the lack of continuity is the main reason I’m kinda uninterested. Half the time I only know the players because espn always talks about them.
The NBA has declined more than March madness. -load management makes the best players never play in the regular season -way too many injuries (more than there used to be) -the elimination of post game and inside play (college basketball still has it) -Teams prefer iso ball instead of a set offense (opposite of college) - much less defense played than in college - only about 3 teams can win the title each year - too much about the stars (not an emphasis on the team) Literally the only reason anyone could argue that the nba is better than college basketball is that the players are better. Every other area college is better in.
You forgot the biggest problem which is the uncalled traveling, carrying and double dribbling. Growing up in the 90s and 00s I never would’ve believed that the NBA would sink this low just to appeal to casual fans.
College ball doesn't have the same clout it use to! Partly cuz there's to many more options now, and the games aren't as good, and players aren't as recognizable as they use to be!
So out of touch...it's the format. 64 teams single elimination...extremely exciting. Chris acting like the NBA isn't a watered down product until the playoffs.

Easy fix. Get rid of the 1 and done. Go straight from high school if you can but if you go to college you have to spend at least 2 years there. 3 would be better but being realistic I'll take the 2
It's so Lame. It's a level below the NBA which is the best the sport of basketball has to offer. Their awkwardness their pimple face kids who's bodies are still underdeveloped its torture to watch.
Well since the Universities are required to pay the players atleast a 10k/yr salary the players leave alot earlier so u not building a fan base + the talent is leaving earlier, its not going to be as good.
I’m with Chris. The beauty of college basketball is it’s amateurism….the fact that you fall in love with your team because you actually had two-three years to build chemistry and most importantly, unforgettable memories about those teams and the schools they played for. It’s been 15-20 years (ironically about the same time the one and done system began it’s ascent)--me and buddies would sit around and say “you remember when (this) team was big with (these) players--nowadays, you don’t really know any of them as anything but someone who wore a jersey for one year. It’s a big money investment for the NBA--they want kids younger, faster, up and down 100+ point games because they are trying to attract the younger generation who still spend money on jerseys and shoes. Now we’re paying college players--doesn’t feel like college anymore. More like a more saturated “D”-League--and it shows with the former power conferences and programs. That’s what the NCAA Tournament was all about--when Cinderella busted the Ball--these memorable players getting upset in the tournament--busting brackets. Now, there is really no perennial powerhouses with consistency, No #1 teams who stayed atop the polls anymore than two weeks--it’s sucks, as a college basketball fan. But really, who’s fault it is? It doesn’t matter to me. The evolution of basketball has changed the old school generations way of thinking…..and it’s never going back to the way it was. There’s no defined positions anymore either--which to me is good for the kids, but I guess I’m still stuck back in the day when we had the Christian Laetteners, the Chris Webber’s, the Bo Kimble’s, the Charles Barkley’ etc etc where you talked about these guys during March like they were demigods!! Maybe I am one of those “get off my lawn” old guys too lol I do wish it was right out of high school or two years in college, though.
Pay the players ruined college basketball. Gee, who could have predicted that. Literally nobody cares about college basketball anymore. I couldn't name a single college basketball player.
But wouldn't paying the players push them to stay there longer tho? If anything they're probably not paying them enough lmao, gotta get that football money
Saint Peter's man Cinderella lol I still love March madness man....it gets me ready for the last part of the nba season/playoffs....the kids WANT TO WIN they have expectations not like westbrick n the lakers....real basketball
