College just doesn’t have the names that you follow for 2 or 3 years. Players/teams could actually become rivals. The NBA didn’t become bigger, it has just been covered more because of the lack of names in college.
And the NBA to me is worse than college. Specifically rn. Theres a bunch of problems. Bad refs, guys flopping, Guys complaining after every call, too many 3pt shots.
Man it’s one of my favorite times of year. I don’t follow college ball much but it’s the time where the ultimate upsets happen, very competitive and I get to see players who are hungry and make a name for themselves. It’s awesome

It's the same old bad court design and how they mainly shoot 3's now. but really the court design is bland and they've been using it for 20 straight years and ever since they've all been horrid tournaments. Really it's the ugliest court design ever with all the different color or tone wood.
There’s way too many teams (obviously) and with the players leaving after a year or two it just becomes exhausting following college ball every year. I think you just get tired of it over time.
The issue is with the one and done and, gleague and overseas sprinkled with the transfer portal players don't stay 3 and 4 years. It's just a revolving door of players for programs that are less talented as the talented players are going other/better routes.

College basketball in general has declined because star players would rather leave after a year and bust in the NBA than stay and be a college star. The overall level of play is a joke compared to the NBA. That said, the tournament is still fun to watch because of the unpredictability, excitement, and passion the college players have. I don't watch CBB outside of the tournament though.

I just recently started getting into soccer the past couple years now that there are access to it on TV and I gotta stay it's pretty awesome once you start to understand the sport, especially at the highest levels in Europe.
Tried watching UCLA ARIZONA championship game and barely made it through it, and it was a competitive game, but it was such sloppy play and these dudes could not shoot to save their life.

Not sure if you all actually watch the Pros, but the quality of basketball in college is not there. It's bad basketball. I'll give you the atmosphere is certainly better and the kids are playing hard, but its all a crap shoot. No one can ever accurately pick out a bracket. When you have low seeds like VCU as a play in or George Mason as a 13 get to a Final Four, its too unpredictable. For me, its Pros all day.

For me, since COVID happened, sports just doesn't seem to be what it used to be. I saw what life was like without sports in my life as much which I really never experienced before. Games were cancelled and the NBA went in the bubble, I hated watching that, just wasn't the same without fans. Since sports has returned, sure I've watched my team (Eagles) made it to the Superbowl and lost but I wasn't broken up about it. Can't even watch my local team (Timberwolves) unless they are on TNT/ESPN. A lot of nights I tell myself, oh this game or that game is on I wanna watch it. Sit down and totally forget that it's on and I miss it. Doesn't seem to bother me like it used to. Same goes for the NCAA tournament. Used to do not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4 , not 5, not 6 brackets ESPN, work, whatever. Just don't have the interest, time anymore. Something is just different for me now, not sure exactly what it is? 🤷🏾♂️
Maybe its because we are realizing that its not that important. Our country is changing and not for the better. We are having different responsibilities.

80s and 90s was the pinnacle of ncaa tourney for me. Im from Vegas so UNLV was always in mix and it was such a big deal for the city since thats all we had back then. One and done has def had effect and Chris is right you just dont connect with alot of the players like you did back then.

Just had this conversation with a good coworker buddy... We live in Maryland and I can't name 1 player on the men's or women's basketball team. Here's how you fix it... Make players stay in college for 2 years, if they go overseas then they must stay for 3 years. The product is bad, build up the players by allowing them to remain in school for at least 2 years. Have a selection of 5 top high school players each year that are draft eligible, the rest of the athletes must go to college (2 full seasons), overseas(3 years) or G-League until they get called up to the NBA. With this format you can only go to the G-League after age 21 or you get sent down after already being on an NBA roster.

Your players should stay longer argument is flawed bc some of the most experienced teams have the weakest fan bases/interest. And teams like Duke & Kentucky have new players every year are constantly followed by millions of fans.
