    Something I'd love to see for the new chain but regarding the old chain is that I'd love to see them do significant park improvements in addition to their ride additions. I'd love each ride bring a refreshed look to each place they build them. I'd love to see fewer visible chain link fences and concrete across the chain. I'd love to see more landscaping, better shops with more unique merchandise, better restaurants ,newer paint and more shade. This was one of the biggest problems with the old chain. I'd love to see each ride feel like it's the centerpiece of an overall revitalization of an area. I think that would be do a lot to bring in families and change the reputation.

      And I want a pony. Neither is happening. SF management is willing to spend on coasters. Theming? Not so much.

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ 2 месяца назад +5

      @@billcook4768 I'm not necessarily asking for theming. And a lot of Cedar Fair management are coming along as part of this merger. A lot of Cedar Fair parks in recent years have done a lot to revamp areas where they build new rides. Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Kings Island, Knotts and Cedar Point have all plussed up the atmosphere in areas with new or planned attractions. There's no reason to say that can't happen with parks that were in the old Six Flags chain going forward.
      That said, if we're talking about expectations instead of hopes, I'm not confident about new additions in general after the merger because they may need time to shed assets and weather the storm before big new investments happen.

    • @JavinManfield

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ 2 месяца назад +2

      @@carysage that wouldn't be too surprising. And frankly, I don't have a problem with fences if they are visibly hidden from site by things like foliage or theming. Obviously I get that ticketed locations will have fences. But there are ways to keep you from just looking at concrete, chain link and barbed wire. Let's put it this way: I'd like all parks to look more like Knotts or SDC and less like the back of Kentucky Kingdom.

    Six Flags Great America posted a teaser video on their official Twitter account that said #FearTheWrath. The caption also had the letters S, S, and A capitalized. This teaser was also located at the spot where Mardi Gras Hangover used to be with the caption "Looks can be deceiving #FearTheWrath". It also had a QR code that took you to some Wordle thing that spelled out "Tease".
    All of this coincides with Six Flags filing the name, "Wrath of Rakshasa" on May 28th 2024. It is intended to cover the categories of amusement and theme park services; Entertainment services in the nature of amusement park rides.
    As for what this can be? Some people were speculating it's something fright fest related due to the use of "Fear" in the marketing. It can also be a new flat ride to replace the Mardi Gras hangover since that was the spot the teaser was posted. Another option is that this can be the replacement for the Demon since a Rakshasa is a type of Demon from Hindu mythology and there have been a few survey markings around it and buccaneer battle which is right next to it. The final option is that it can be a coaster replacing roaring rapids since that is also really close to the Mardi Gras hangover, it hasn't been opened in a while, and the sign has been torn off.
    If "Wrath of Rakshasa" is a coaster, it's hard to say what type of coaster it's going to be. It seems pretty unlikely to be a Raptor with that type of name (wouldn't exclude a T-Rex but i don't wanna get my hopes up). A dive coaster does seem like a good candidate as you mentioned. Going back to the Twitter caption that had S, S, and A capitalized, many people seem to have mentioned that it may hint at an S&S Axis coaster. I would personally love this but I'm unsure how unlikely Six Flags Great America is willing to work with S&S after all the problems Maxx Force has. My cousin literally got stuck on it yesterday lol.

    I was at SFNE yesterday. This was my favorite mini Flags park in the days of Premier Parks. It still a nice park and it still is a great one-two punch park. While it broke my heart to see the condition of the park, it can easily be brought back. Powerwashing, paint, better employee training and getting rid of the dang spiderwebs would bring it back to where it was in the early 2000’s. A multi-launch coaster would be a perfect addition. Some parks don’t require a B&M and this smaller scale park is one of them. The Dark Knight was never a standout coaster and it provides more head rush than enjoyment. Another fun, enjoyable coaster would sit well with the likes of Superman, Wicked Cyclone, Joke and Pandemonium.

    I don't think Magic Mountain needs another multi-launch. We already have Full Throttle and WCR. Honestly, I hope for some kind of spinner. Personal choice would be a Mack Extreme Spinner, but really any sort of large-scale spinning coaster will do, even if it's for families, which would fit well being located right mext to Bugs Bunny World. If not some type of spinner, then a Dive would also work very well.

    I’m with what you’re saying, Brandon. I asked a friend of mine the last time I was on the train about it being repaired last season and that could it be removed? And then I kind of backpedaled after thinking about the fact that it was just replaced. I’m not too sure what their plan is, but I think that a big coaster is coming to the Mardi Gras area. Potentially a dive coaster or Axis coaster. “looks are can be deceiving” which makes me think this attraction may not look like much from the ground, but the *Axis* layout makes the ride experience like nothing ever experienced before.” That’s what I’m thinking Six Flags is aiming at with this campaign. I could be wrong and I’m okay with that.

    Of the 4 parks mentioned, Six Flags New England seems to be the most in need of some love. Their most recent flat ride addition was 2021, their most recent coaster was 2017, and their most recent waterpark addition was 2013. While they do need a new coaster to replace Goliath, they arguably need a waterpark expansion even more. Not only has it gone more than a decade without anything new, but Bonzai Pipelines and Typhoon are standing but not operating. So they need to replace those before they can even say they expanded the waterpark. The argument in favor of a waterpark expansion is that while SFNE hasn't built a new coaster since 2017, their competitors haven't either. But their competitors have expanded or even built completely new waterparks. So that segment is more competitive and is seeing larger growth. The argument in favor of getting a coaster is the longer operating season and lower staffing requirement.

Ideally, they should add something about as long as Full Throttle. I know I've been **hawking** this a while (pun intended), but a mid-sized B&M Wing would fill a nice gap in the middle of their lineup. For the parks that weren't announced, I want Michigan's Adventure to get the hyper coaster from the abandoned Hot Go Dreamworld in China and I want their abandoned wing coaster to go to La Ronde. I also want La Ronde to get a family coaster and log ride package from Zamperla, and I also want Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Six Flags America, and Carowinds to get one as well.
    11:25 I think there's a B&M flying coaster standing but not operating at a closed park in Northern China. If so, I want that to go to Six Flags Darien Lake.
    An S&S El Loco would be perfect for Frontier City, and a Zamperla spinning wild mouse would be my first choice for Six Flags Over Georgia.
    Dorney Park and Kings Dominion should get a Vekoma family boomerang similar to the new one at Kings Island.
    Speaking of which, Kings Island should get a Mack big dipper where Vortex stood and a large launch coaster by Vekoma where Son of Beast used to stand.
    Cedar Point should get a Mack water coaster where Shoot The Rapids used to be, and Six Flags Great Escape should get a Gerstlauer Euro Fighter or a Zierrer tower coaster.
    Six Flags Great Adventure should get its own dueling launch coaster where Rolling Thunder used to be, and Six Flags Mexico needs a compact launch coaster.
    Valleyfair has plenty of room near High Roller for a compact Vekoma launch coaster or a compact wing or inverted coaster from B&M.
    Finally and obviously, Roar at Six Flags America, Hurler at Carowinds, Predator at Six Flags Darien Lake, and Boss at Six Flags St. Louis all need the RMC redo.

    At Magic Mountain, whatever they are building is going to be big. Why do I say that? The teaser posters at the plot of land specifically use the words "Epic Thrills." To me that doesn't indicate a family coaster, thrill or otherwise. There was some statement made a while back saying that whatever the new ride was it was going to be unique. So following that, it could be a tilt (I don't see that happening because of SFM and COTALand which makes two in North America west of the Mississippi.) It could be an Axis coaster since there are none in North America. An Extreme Spinner would be a great fit as well, especially if it is record breaking. (Mack has also said they haven't fully pushed the limits of that design style too.) Or, as a long shot, they could be going for a holy grail-ish ride and building a TRex. To me, those are the "unique" options out there. Whatever it is, they are being super tight-lipped about it and as of now I haven't heard any leaks.

    I pray great america doesnt get a dive. Thats ahuge plot of land youre talking about and would be great for a tilt coaster, or something more unique... an intamin multi launch or mack multi launch ( OR HYPER FROM EITHER MANUFACTURER. would be so different from raging bull).
    If its a dive, make it a hyper and make it good. No mid course. I love single rails though tbh but the wonder woman /jersey devil clone ks long and skinny and wouldnt fully utilize the rapids plot. It actually is a perfect fit for the demon plot if they ever wanted to get rid of that!
    And to answer your question about the height: great america can get approval from gurnee to build up to 325 ft. Anything below 120 they dont need to get approval for. Ie, d9dnt need to ask for x flight and batman, but had to get approval for raging bull giant drop goliath vertical velocity shockwave sky trek tower etc. The city has NEVER said no. Its just a formality. So this park could absolutely build a giga. (B and m parking lot giga im looking at you 🙏)

Why have impostor syndrome to cedar point constantly and build shorter lower capacity rides? 2019 was a long time ago. Praying that they took this very approach... rather than 3 rides in one decade, build one mega ride to cover the 2020s. Next mod sized coaster 2030/2031.

    • @aomalle
      @aomalle 2 месяца назад

      You are woefully mistaken. The zoning limits are 200'; the 120' cap is anything within 500' of a residential area (ie. where Goliath sits). As for there just being a formality.... again, you are incorrect. Gurnee has said no, more often than not. When they were in the planning stages for Goliath, they were refused their initial 180' variance request. They modified their plans and actually built BELOW grade as a quasi work around, and were granted a 25' variance over the 120' cap. Just consult the Gurnee zoning site Table 5-1 for Commercial zoning, with the Amusement use variances. Consult any number of Tribune, Daily Herald, or Sun Times articles back dated to the Goliath construction hurdles. Look at the modifications they did/scaled back to create Giant Drop (another zoning height dispute).

SFFT having so much competition has forced investment and SFOT a less than regional parks even though it's in a much larger metro area. The real cempetition in the DFW area are all family water parks or kid parks.even the new Universal park will be a kid park. Family and kid attractions are generally just cheaper to build. This will be the trend,or the land will be sold. The land is almost becoming too valuable to be a middling subregional theme park.

      Not happening... at least as far as SFGam is concerned. Gurnee zoning laws cap Amusement structures at 200 ft (with the caveat that if within 500 ft of a residential area, that cap shrinks to 125'). Thus the delay in building Goliath way back when, as directly behind it, is a residential property. They actually built below grade to achieve their height of 180', but they still needed a 25' variance. No way Gurnee approves a 100' variance for a giga.
      Gurnee zoning, is why they haven't considered RMCing Eagle, as the plot of land the helix sits upon is public domain, and any significant construction (ie. a rebuild/reimagining) would forfeit that plot of land the helix sits upon.
