A universally loved by most for 25 years pokemon vs one thats been popular for what 5-7 years and only with younger generation. A card that ties back to one of the most historic paintings of all time vs a frog in the water..yeah there is no comparison. one has two mega popular culture icons and one is a frog ninja.
Greninja is also a universally loved Pokemon. The biggest fan favorite starter from gen 6 (the game which brought mega evolutions), featured in the super smash games, and multiple other set chase cards associated. Greninja certainly isn’t Pikachu, but his comparison to the Pika promo is based on supply, market trends, and is really just friendly advice for collectors who want a good pickup.
Great video. I agree with you for sure- this card is massively overlooked and gorgeous. Just bought a cgc 10 myself. For collectors who value scarcity and are looking for good pickups this is a great choice
great buy. i regret not buying more tbh. looks like supply has dried up like i said. there are probably way less copies of this printed compared to the pikachu card out there
Part of the issue with your assessment is you are not factoring in the Pikachu tax. Significantly more people want Pikachu than Greninja. It’s probably like 25-50x in terms of demand. Do I think Greninja could hit $100, sure. Do I think it will come close to that Pikachu, not a chance. With that said, you are correct that Greninja is probably a solid investment.
good point, I didnt factor in the pikachu factor. pikachu is probably the most extreme case of a promo going sky high. if we see greninja match armored mewtwo's price that would be pretty good too
so undervalued, i just pbought one psa 10 for $110. That felt so cheap for this promo card in a 10, espeically since i've never see it in stores anymore, not since release.
You’re “wrong” on where to get the Pikachus. A really small amount was sold at the museum and online. I’d say at least 90+% of the amount is sold in february 2024 in toy stores where you could get a free Pikachu per person if you spended €29,99+
I see you're from europe, and again I am giving my perspective from the US. we had a chance to get them from our pokemon center, where we had to spend $20 USD on van gogh merchandise and get a promo. a ton of them were sold here
I didnt know that was the case, but I think 99% of the western audience would prefer an english copy over any chinese copy, so it shouldnt affect the price in any way
There is no comparison between the van Gogh Pikachu and that Greninja card. You might like the one more than the other, but the Greninja will NEVER have the same value as the van Gogh Pikachu. Never ever. People prefer Pikachu over Greninja any day, and the van Gogh is made after a famous painter/painting (compare it with the Munch Scream cards). Also very hard to get for people outside the Netherlands (We also got the card in shops when we would spend 30 euro's on Pokemon, so many of us have many), so WAY out of Greninja's league.
Man im so sick of this investment shit. Cant we just buy and enjoy cards for how they look without all this ridiculously value stuff. Thats the reason us normal people have to deal with the vultures that are scalpers. Money brings in rich pricks that have it so they can milk and drain those with less
I get your concerns, but I was here 4 years ago and I went through the highs and bottoms. Picture this: 2 years ago when SV base came out. The price of a box was $130 and the best card you could pull was worth $30. It was very sour because no matter what you pulled from your box, people would not feel happy because you felt you lost money. Why waste money opening product when you can just get the singles? Look you might not like the money side of things, but because the cards hold value, the hobby is doing well. There are other TCGs that arent doing well and all their cards are worth 5 bucks or less, they are on life support. Once pokemon prints to demand, the hype goes away, it will go back to normal
@@ctrlaltQQ Again no comparison. 4 years ago the market was calm af compared to now. We have never seen whats going on now, and if it stays like this (i dont expect it, but you never know) it will be the end of the hobby for 'normal' collectors.

You're right on the money! Greninja Promo is picking up steam on TCGplayer! So far, the market is agreeing with your assessment.
The card just doubled since the last post 🤔
looks like people are listing more and more, I think we will be around 30 for a long time if it persists
For real my new favorite RUclipsr keep doing vis like this and you will be the next PSA10

you got me bro, just purchased a PSA 10😎🤑
What did you pay? I just went for one at $180.
@porsche911c 165$😇 Gotta act quick hahaha
@@TristanTaillon Holy crap, turns out we did pretty well! Have you seen the prices today?

I have a local trade night on the 9th of March, we'll see if I let it go then🤑
Dude your data is on another level!!!
It definitely can. I have 12 of them, and 1 sealed greninja box.

this right here. I do agree solid card but pikachu with van gogh collaboration.. its miles ahead of this but still a solid card.

How was pikachu’s volume through the first 6 months compared to greninja ?
glad that I bought quite a few of them under MSRP and they are potential PSA10 too, should've bought more lol
Good take
Good thing I bought one and I got it pre graded to psa9

Greninja card still better looking than that boring pikachu card.. pikachu is only popular due to demand.. but artistically it sucks
