There's actually even a much easier way to add the whole set to your cart! If you go to the price guide for the set you want, you can filter by rarity and card type, then click the "select all" checkbox. You can then click the "bulk actions" drop down and select "add all to cart".
I wish I knew this before recording the video. It will make things much easier haha
Yeah this is what I do. This comment makes the video obsolete
I’ve been messing around with the price guide and it bugs kinda often-unless I’m doing something wrong. For example, if I try to bulk add all of surging sparks, it fails to add most of it. Only 103 cards add to cart. It seems to work better for older sets… any tips? Why does it sometimes just not wanna add everything I’ve checked?
I don't see any of this could you make a short video
I find the feature doesn't add all the cards sometimes so it doesn't hurt to still check through the cards yourself
as someone who has been using tcgplayer for a decade i never realized you could list view the set. Worth watching the video alone.
Can u on a phone? Ios?
@@coltonblood2776yeah you can I’ve done it
I just bought 75ish cards for my Japanese 151 master set. I had no idea there was a list view that let you add cards so easily. Would’ve saved me a lot of time.😂
Facts I’m trying to master set yugioh sets
I don’t know much about Yugioh’s collecting scene, but good luck my dude! 🫡
@@longerino Ain’t foolish if it makes you happy. 👍
As an extra tip, if you have packages with one or two cards in them, go back to search the cards in the smaller packages. As a filter add sellers in cart, sometimes I’ve found that other dealers have the cards but TCG doesn’t optimize it effectively!
I had no idea about the optimize button!! That's a game changer, the shipping is the reason I have never used TCG player
I never watched you before, but i went on a whim and watch this because im getting back into pokemon since my childhood, and that optimize cart option is gonna save my life. I was going by hand and picking a seller and seeing if the had the rest i needed then repeat. Hours of time wasted but that alone will save me hours in the future and ill use those hours to watch you so thank you.
I randomly found you tonight in a fit of insomnia and lemme tell you: your voice and these videos calmed my anxiety instantly. Keep it up. (Also congrats on the new baby!)
Daddy this you
@ huh?
Hii, I just started my Pokemon collecting journey 🐛and I just wanted to say, you've become my favorite already! Love how calmly you speak, no shouting and fake reaction. Thank you for your advice and congratulations! 🐥
Super useful information in this. Appreciate the longer format and breaking it down Barney style
I’ve been buying cards from TCG Player for years and never thought to do this. Very helpful video!
This might be my favorite video of yours. I have been purchasing a lot of cards recently to complete my sets and it's nice to know that I'm not the only one that has issues from time to time. I'm more shocked that you can order a complete master set for ~$200.00! I would assume a set of this size would be significantly more expensive.
Loving the branching out in the content
Awesome seeing how you fill in those spots! Really cool the shop does a trade night too, I bet it's a lifeline to have a set date you can get some filled
This is the most informative and helpful video about buying pokemon cards i have ever watched. Subscribed
I can never get the cart optimizer to work well for me. I found going through individual shops and sorting by set works best for me. Then within each shop I do what you did and alpha sort and by rarity with list view for easy add and reverse holo listing. I found it saves more on shipping and package reduction especially with shops that have less than $0.10 commons and do free shipping on orders over $5.
Thank goodness the algorithm recommended this video to me! You have gained a new subscriber! My son is really into collecting master sets of Pokemon cards, and I’m the mom who likes to collate and track everything 😂 he and I are both new to Pokemon collecting so I didn’t know about TCG and how to do this! Now if someone could help me figure out how to tell extended family to stop buying whatever sets they see and stick to what he asks for, we’ll be set😅
Haha, that is always a struggle! To make tracking easier, if you aren’t using an app you can try dex if you have iPhones. I use it for all my master set tracking!
A great showcase video!! I had no idea you could sort by list too haha
Great video! I'm from the UK so I don't use TCG Player. I'm a big fan of our equivalent which is CardMarket. It has a similar feature. You add all the cards you like to a wish list and then can optimise by condition, seller rating and even which country the sellers are from.
I usually rip a booster box on release and then get the singles online to complete my sets.
Here in Europe I have the same long wait times. Back at the start of November I put an order in to get the last few singles I needed to complete Shrouded Fable, the last card came this morning (35 days later).
I've had the needing to pay extra postage just like you have. I'm lucky I've got a good postman where he still delivers and once a month brings an invoice and I pop to the post office to pay it (usually only a couple of £'s).
Oh, I didn't know you could optimise your wishlist on Cardmarket. I always look to get multiple cards from fewer sellers. Can you also optimise for "least number of sellers" like Pokelou showed it for tcgplayer?
@@oChest When you have added the cards to a wishlist do these steps.
1. Click shopping wizard. (Click buying and it's the bottom result.)
2. Select which wishlist.
3. Select from seller location/type/minimum reputation (like ebay feedback).
4. Select either Reduce price or Reduce shipments.
@@oChest Yes, you could use the shopping wizard on your wish lists and select minimum prices (less price, more sellers) or minimum shippings (usually a bit more price, less -or 1 if you are lucky- sellers)
@@oChest CardMarket offers "least amount of shipping cost" and "least amount of card cost", which basically boils down to least amount of sellers/sellers living in neighbouring countries, or sellers offering cards more cheaply but usually with higher shipping.
Imo neither work well, bc I usually end up checking the cards myself. Last time, for my deck, it came out at 67eu being the cheapest option, but then I checked myself and I got around 45eu.
@@oChest Yes you can - using ShippingWizard section you can sort by least amount of sellers and by price of card :)
This was incredibly helpful. Just order 49 cards. It was going to be a bunch of shipments and over $50. Now it’s 7 shipments and $22. Thank you so much!
Helpful video! Love some of those full arts you bought 💥
Thank you so so so much for this I’ve been using Tcg for the longest n no one ever told me I could do this lol until now I was able to bring my 15 dollar order to 6.75 that’s a big chunk thank u so much for this info
This is game changing info man! I’m trying to complete several of my master sets and trying to optimize shipping costs is huge
Congrats on the kiddo!! Daughters are the best!
Congrats on the daughter! Don’t collect Pokemon much myself (I collect kpop which is like a distant cousin) but love your videos!
Congrats on your daughter! Interesting video to watch, enjoyed it as always even though it sucks that TCGPlayer just refuses to deliver to Australia.
Just got bit by the bug and placed my first order a couple weeks ago. Great video!
This is awesome. It's hard to find sellers in my area, but I am always so hesitant to buy thru tcgplayer because of extra shipping. The optimize cart thing sure is a game changer. I literally have zero idea you can do that. Thank you!
Love this video! I’ve only recently seen your channel as I’ve been getting back into collecting (I want to buy the master set for Obsidian Flames) this will 100% help me with some cheeky commons I’m missing haha!
This is going to help me so much when buying my missing cards for stellar crown master set
I love TCG player for their optimizer
I've had a pretty good experience on TCGPlayer. The only times I have contacted the seller was when the card I received was different from what I ordered, and it doesn't happen often. Most of the time they say sorry and give a full refund, no questions asked.
But I did have one seller that was not helpful. I ordered a Japanese Goodra from Fusion Arts, I received a Korean Goodra from the equivalent set so it had the same artwork, but obviously a different language. And I could tell right away it wasn't Japanese, 1 because of the card back, and 2 because I can differentiate then two languages. I contacted the seller and didn't hear anything back for a week. That's when TCGPlayer themselves stepped in and asked if I still needed help, and I said "yes." Shortly after that I got a refund from the seller with no other comments from them.
Most of the LGS around me don't carry Pokemon singles or bulk, so I have to buy online which is really unfortunate. I like going to stores and supporting local businesses.
You can do this way faster thru the price guide on TCGplayer. So you don’t have to keep scrolling and adding to cart manually. You can select preferences for condition, printing, rarity etc. click the select all and add all the cards in one shot.
The Vv Theory has a great video on using the price guide. He’s a One Piece player, so he uses this to buy playsets when new sets release.
Love your channel. Keep up the good work.
Ooh, I’ll check that out. Thank you!
How do I access the "price guide?"
@@roadcyclist1 go under Pokémon and select the English price guide , then pick your set
@@Pokelou502 you’d probably be best served selecting the normals and hoilfoils first to the cart. Then go back and do the reverse holos
@a_dubs_ when i select pokemon, it just gives me a list of sets to select from. There is no option called price guide
Nice video for cars lovers who wants to master a set! I hope tcgplayer can sponsor your vids-they gonna get more customers after this! lol
How do you get bulk cards of a certain sets at the local card shops? Mine only sells high-prized singles or bins of misc cards which is all over the places, i really dont want to spend a whole day sorting through them…
Also congrats on your daughter!
I’m lucky that my shop sorts all bulk by set themselves. I hope to show that off in a video soon!
I didn’t know I could buy cards on TCGPlayer lmao thanks for this!
Wut
Thank you for such an informative video!
damn. wish i watched this video before i did my first order on TCGPlayer. I just started collecting and spent hours trying to manually optimize 😅
I’m compiling a master set “+” of HGSS base set and wow is it hard to find people with bulk of them. TCGplayer has been the only place I could find with more than 2 or 3 cards from it. However the big ticket card I’ve always found are better to buy in person. This vid has definitely helped me with the process of using TCGplayer
I agree. Easier to find the big hits and more fun to hunt and find them in person, plus you get to see before you buy!
I wish I saw this before I mastered 151, great video man
I recently ordered toploaders and cardsavers from Temu but I should have bought singles considering almost all of them came in one ahah
Thank you! Very helpful and clear guide.
Great video. Thanks so much, really helpful!
Really well done tutorial! Thanks, Pokelou!
Perfect set to run this experiment on, heh.
Having that many moving pieces trying to get to one location is a bit worrisome, but it's good to know that, for the most part, most problems can be remedied with a little bit of communication.
I know it's fun to hate on this set, but I don't think it's all that bad, especially looking at some of the full arts / secret rares. It really does make me wish I got into the hobby a lot earlier. My only complaint about the X & Y era cards is just the look of the template and how the elements around the artwork look... maybe a bit nitpicky, but they look a lot nicer Sun & Moon forward, imo.
Very good stuff to keep in mind overall, thanks for the information on this one! I use TCGplayer all the time and I don't think I've toggled to that list view, ever.
Each era having a slightly different look is always a little jarring to me. I will say I have come to love the silver borders for scarlet and violet. I’ll be bummed if they go away from that for the next era haha.
@Pokelou502 I can understand that, yeah. But each era having its own unique visual identity is pretty rad. I don't think the jump from Sword and Shield to Scarlet and Violet changed too drastically, outside of the silver borders... which is kind of huge, lol.
They've grown on me a decent amount, they look really nice on IRs and the like. It would be cool to see some more alternate color borders for cards like the Team Flare / Plasma cards - kind of like what they're doing with the rainbow borders on the SIR tera cards.
Even easier, when you click on the "Pokemon" drop down click the button "English Price Guide" in the bottom right. You can then choose which set to see and easily add any of the cards from the set that you would like.
I just learned that after the vid. I’ll be trying that next, thanks!
Mate bloody awesome video! I wish Australia had tcg player!
Exciting!! What a crazy stack of envelopes
Love this kind of video, super informative!
Wish i could do that for here in Canada.
Bro holy crap thank you🙏
Thanks for sharing. 🎉
I'm just about done with my English 151 master set. Thinking about starting over from the beginning with the original unlimited base set and then jungle and fossil etc but that's a pretty big investment just to hold a collection.
Honestly I think each of those three would be easier to get cheaper than 151! Not sticking with near mint maybe, but still good binder copies.
@@Pokelou502yeah, I haven't even begun collecting the art rares and the secret art rares etc. I got a few like Bulbasaur, Blastoise and Poliwhirl as well as two of the gold cards and some full art EXs from ripping packs since I was able to get a decent deal on $50 booster bundles from Walmart online during the Black Friday sales. I'll still slowly collect the last of the 151 set over time when I can find some decent looking lightly played or near mint cards that aren't super expensive. I also went ahead and checked the base set prices. Commons and uncommons are fairly cheap as with most of the rares being only a couple of bucks a piece I might just go ahead and do the full bulk of all the commons, uncommons and rares for the three sets and then slowly collect the holo rares overtime like I'll be doing with the 151 SARs etc.
Interesting approach on collecting. Kudos! A little less fun but impressive.
Should note that when you optimize and select the TCG Direct option, it doesn't necessarily mean every card will come through Direct, but the cards they currently have available to send. It then will select the remaining cards as Verified Sellers to give you the overall best deal.
I learned that after making the vid. I wondered why my previous orders were single packages. I guess because I had used it for more modern and available stuff in the past!
Awesome tutorial, very helpful. Thanks!
What I’m doing now to finish my SwSh Alt Art collection
I ordered a staff promo that said NM and it arrived in just an ultrapro game sleeve with no penny sleeve, had corner damage and "stuff" inside the sleeve. Dude used it as a napkin
Ugh. You get it taken care of with TCGplayer?
Awesome thank you!!
this is such a good video thank you so much
I was planning on finishing off completing steam siege (cause it’s my favorite set) and I didn’t realize it’s only $200?? For a full set and an XY era one at that, that’s crazy. Def going to hop on that after the holiday season
yeah its pretty crazy!
This was great! I like tcgplayer.
I just loaded my home with groceries and don't have to eat a single Pokemon card....😁👁️⚡
Man!!! Nice. It feels so easy for you making these things in the States. Where are you from exactly?
I’m in KY! So yeah unfortunately I don’t have any experience with Cardmarket or other sites overseas.
@ beautiful state! We live in Eastern Europe, Romania, Transylvania region. Very few options. I’m trying to build a small community of master set builders. Supply is scarce and overpriced. We can only count on ourselves and cardmarket. Thank you for your help with your vid’s and tips Lou.
Great video!!! This was really helpful.
When buying cards for a master set at a card shop, do you take a physical list of cards or do you use phone/app?
Thanks!
I use an app called Dex!
This made me laugh, I literally just did this (minus a few of the insanely priced cards)
I've made mass entry work before!!
TcgPlayer has a Set format it likes.
First off if you do a bulk entry from the likes of TCG Live the desktop version it will NOT have the correct set format for the cards.
TCG player is fiddly but there is a way to make it work you just need to convert the data to make it fit.
Take a clipboard export of a deck and put square brackets around the set codes.
Remove the collectors number from the end
Try and add.
Errors will be set codes that are different for TcgPlayer mass entry than what the tcgLive uses
I love your videos, Jim from the office !
You should make a Pokédex binder cause it’d be awesome
I’d love to eventually!
@ hooray!
Love this to hopefully complete some sets / collections I started a while ago. I was wondering if you had any input on selling through here? I have alot of older set duplicates / bulk I want to sell but never got around to it.
In my real life I work in production management-so I really, really wanna set up a production line/optimized workflow for selling my bulk on TCGplayer. I’m just not sure I’m willing to dedicate the time. Maybe soon though!
@@Pokelou502 Oh nice! yeah you are way better equipped than me to start that. I was going to try selling on a few different sites a few years ago but never got to setting it up fully. Just wasnt sure if you had experience or thoughts on using TCG player as a main selling site as a private collecter.
if you ever do make an account im interested in older reverses
@@creatingvideostobreakmyspe6049 Of course! I have alot of old stock from 1997-when I first started collecting in BW era. Alot of bulk and extra cards from those I am planning to sell.
Not a bad deal at all. The master set for Steam Siege is 178.17 as of 12/7/24.
The optimizer may do better in the future, since TCGplayer has a separate place for Japanese cards now. I get two of bulk cards sometimes, and it's usually because I accidentally ordered two. 😂
I do need a bit of an advice 😅 I have a binder that I have started and a bunch of bulk from all different sets I need advice on how can I organize it
There’s no wrong way! You can just organize the cards how you think is coolest, by set, whatever you like! It’s fun to mix and match.
@Pokelou502 thanks ill try that way of organizing perhaps ill help me a bit since im still kinda new on the hobby, maybe I'll build my own masters set with what I have and can afford
Could this be cheaper for completing a master set than buying and opening packs altogether? Or is a mix of both packs and singles still the best method?
To me opening packs is always fun. But yeah for most sets, this is way cheaper!
Why not use the price guide and filters? You can select all and with much fewer clicks and scrolling.
I didn’t know about it! But also it’s not really working for me. It randomly doesn’t add some cards, what’s up with that?
for example, would i be able to search up 1 specific pokemon to buy all cards of that pokemon? (eevee)
You definitely can just search a Pokémon name! I use the app Dex though as a general guide to find all variants for any pokemon.
Is it any cheaper to buy it all in one go as compared to buying it over time
Buying it all in bulk together just saves on shipping cost is all!
Very smart
Hey, also from Louisville. What local card shop do you use?
I visit them all but primarily Through the Decades. They’re great!
@@Pokelou502 are you going to Lex card show this weekend?
Is there any way to do the same for all cards of one specific Pokémon?
Definitely! You can just search the specific cards you need. A little more manual but still a good way to order a specific pokemon “master set”
25:49 I know this has nothing to do with making a master set with TCGplayer but how the hell does magearna have a card in steam siege if it was released in gen 7? I am genuinely confused
Magearna was teased/revealed way early. And steam siege released shortly before the release of sun and moon, so magearna showed up in the tcg a little early.
@Pokelou502 ahh makes sense. thanks for the info!
Pls do more sets
I was just wondering, my TCG Player always seems to be missing the hits of any set I want to complete. All EXs, Holo Rares, ets seem to never be in stock. Any tips?
It depends on the set really! Give me an example-I’ve never had any recent sets not have cards available, but older stuff is missing sometimes when I try to order in bulk. Unless you are accidentally sticking yourself into shopping a specific store (at the top click leave this store) then I always see most everything fully available and in stock.
Used this video to complete my Obsidian Flames Grand Master Set. Will update this comment when everything gets here!
Is it possible for French cards ?
TCGplayer doesn’t have French but I believe card market does!
Man it really sucks that TCGPlayer *still* won't ship to Australia, and I can't find any good reason why. You can ship to Antarctica though
Hm ik its not a master set but i was trying to get a full collection of all dedenne cards and i spent a long time optimizing prices with shipping and the cart is significantly cheaper than all the optimized options. Is this more just a hassle free way to get a decent value and if you are looking for the cheapest cart you should do it individually?
Weird, so your cart is cheaper than any optimized option? I’ll have to try that out. I’ve never had that be the case.
@ its a weird situation because there are only 24 dedenne cards and also not many sellers sell him so that might be why. I was specifically having to min max prices of individual cards but also hitting that $5 free shipping. My cart was about $45 when i did it and the options were above $50
Can you not change currency to GBP for uk
I believe card market is used for the uk!
too bad I can't really use TCG for Europe since the shipping is expensive af 😂
Do you have an Affiliate Code? I’m going to go ahead and do this, because of this video.
I don’t, but I appreciate the thought! Maybe I’ll sign up for one and add it to the description.
I’m a little confused. So how does optimizing your cart lower shipping charges???
It searches all sellers to find the most cards you want in the condition selected so you get it in as few packages as possible, so fewer shipping charges!
@so it minimizes the amount of vendors selling to you?
Basically yes. Imagine you add 10 cards to your cart from 10 different sellers. Thats 10 shipping charges. If there is one seller that has all 10 cards, it will find them and you’ll only pay shipping once. That sort of optimization is what it does!
@ ohhhh okay that’s what I thought…. But what if they have those cards not at the low? Wouldn’t that make the sale itself more money?
Yep, it takes that into account! It is supposed to prioritize the cheapest option for total price. Even if that means paying more for the cards to get them all from one seller to reduce shipping.
this doesnt work in aus :(
im not even from the US and watched the whole video 😅
Haha, thank you!
Congrats on the daughter
Are you the same person as PokeSoup?
Nope! But I’ll check out their vids!
Comment for the Algorithm. Thanks for making this video.
Not viable for me...😢. Here in Portugal, Europe.
Steam Siege didn’t deserve the hate it got
Ik its personal and obviously your not obliged to answer but what is it you do for a job outside youtube, just genuinly curious lol.
Haha! It isn’t anything special. I won’t get specific for privacy reasons but basically just a project manager at a production facility!
why would the seller refund any postage due? the card's price doesn't include postage, and they charged the wrong, lower amount of postage on the TCGplayer order. the fact postage ended up being .40, 3, 5 bucks more is on the buyer, that's how i've always done it...
if p&p is calculated for 5 cards, and the order end up being 50 cards, surely the buyer is the person responsible to cover any difference in postage cost, no?
we may not be on tcgplayer to make money, but rather help the community, however we aren't there to lose money either
Buyer pays shipping on TCGplayer. It is the sellers responsibility to ship it for that price. If a seller packages something wrong so the post office says more postage is due, how is that the buyers responsibility to cover?
@@Pokelou502 how does TCGplayer calculate shipping? obviously having an X amount listed as p&p for a single card, can't be used for combined shipping if the order contains 50 singles. it'll have to go as a parcel, with a higher fee. the buyer is then the person who benefits from said service, so liable for covering it. it would be better for the seller to contact the buyer prior to posting and saying something like. " you know man, TCGplayer charged you combined shipping for a letter, but i cannot post a letter with 50 cards in, it will get flagged and up charged as a larger item, are you ok to cover this?", for transparency
Sellers set their own shipping prices depending on order and item size. It’s the sellers determination, there shouldn’t be any surprises really! Postage due means the shipper (seller) didn’t post adequate postage for the package. Nothing about the buyer at all.
@@Pokelou502 so we agree that HAD the seller posted adequate postage, that you, the buyer, would have paid for with the order, it would have been okay.
This is no different, they didn't post adequate postage because tcgplayer decided that X amount of cards, require Y postage label costing Z dollars.. but, as it turns out, tcgplayer miscalculated and didn't realise that the amount of cards ordered from the seller is too big for the posted postage, a more expensive service is required...
Which, ideally, should have been charged during ordering the cards, but wasn't.
I’m confused what the distinction is honestly. On TCGplayer, the buyer has no input at all on shipping charges. None. They just pay what the seller has set up as their shipping charge, which auto calculates based on order size. The buyer has zero input on shipping cost or how the seller packs it, they just pay the charge. So if it arrives postage due, the buyer cannot be held responsible for the extra charge… it’s the sellers responsibility. This is how the site handles it. Sellers refund postage due.
Seems legit. Until literally ever, single, card says 'Sold Out'
What set? Are you sure you’re not stuck in the store for a single seller? I don’t often find a big range of sold out cards on tcg player.
Way easier to buy the completed master set sleeved and in a binder on eBay for the same prices. This is too tedious. I’ve bought 5 complete sets that way.
Definitely also an option! This was mostly to get a bunch of packages to show off how TCGplayer works. But sometimes it can be tough to find one on eBay or through Facebook for a truly fair price as far as the singles go. There’s something to be said for paying for convenience though!
@ I agree most of the time you have to pay slightly over for the singles prices of what the entire set is worth. But I see it as a convenience fee for it being already 100% completed. I had been wanting a video like this just the other day and you came through though. This may help for some high priced singles. Thank you.
