Wow -- followed the steps to Advanced, system config, boot mode and changed uefi to csm boot and success!! A miracle happened today, 2/24/2015. Thank you Mr Easy Steps.

Just in case F12 doesn't work for you, try pressing F2 and power button at the same time; it worked for me. Also, my BIOS looked different from the one on the video. On the left hand I pressed on ADVANCED and then I turned off the option of safe/secure booting (I can't recall the exact wording). I hope this helps some folks out there.
i followed your steps and windows didn't load the files, instead my pc is looking for me to 'insert boot disk and press any key' what do i do, my toshiba came without a boot disk
+Ross Mugn I Have the same problem, after following all of the instructions my screen says: "no bootable device -- insert boot disk an press any key" just like before but with a bigger font!
brother please check if you hard disk is connected well inside, even me I was going to complain like u that it didn't work but once I open inside I found my HDD was loosing the port, not connected well, so I plugged it well then after, It works. the remaining problem it is yours whether your hard disk is in good condition only. other setting do it as he said. thank u again Easy Steps

u can format and install new fresh windows 7/8/10 and then recover ur files with recuva

I found this video helpful. I had to fix a Toshiba laptop for a customer. They had Win 8 OS, but wanted to go back to Win 7 OS. I had the first two steps down, but had no idea why it still wasn't booting from ODD. I would have never guessed the third step which was to go into the configuration menu select: UEFI and then CSM Boot. This video was a great quick reference for this brand of laptop--- 5 stars!

I FIXED IT BY USING MY USB AND ANOTHER LAPTOP. I WENT TO "CREATE A RECOVERY DISK" ON THE WORKING LAPTOP AND PLUGGED MY USB INTO MY CORRUPTED LAPTOP. IT TOOK ME TO THE TROUBLE SHOOT MENU AND WALLA!!! RESET MY LAPTOP AND IT WORKS LIKE NEW. THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR I APPRECIATE YOUR VIDEO AND ASSISITANCE. :)

Thank you for the video and solving, worked for me. Maybe a useful mention: in my case the F12 key would not enter in BIOS only WITHOUT the bootable USB plugged in. So BIOS option-> only with NO Usb inside. Then you can plug it so it can boot. Cheers

THANKS!!! I did disable the Secure boot, it didn't let me change the ADVANCED --> SYSTEM CONFIGURATION -->UEFI --> CSM until after rebooting when changing the secure boot, and reboot first. Worked! Thanks!!!
+Daniel Danner SIDE NOTE: Also at first, I Installed windows 7 on my personal laptop on this new TOSHIBA drive, and then plug it in, yeah...nice try, that didn't work, so that led me to this video...HA! Could of avoided my first part all together. I remember this for future Toshiba's I get in that need new HDD's!!
I replaced the hard drive with an ssd and I was having trouble getting it to work again. I have had a bit of training in computer repair but I am certainly not competent in that field. I looked at this site first and did a few of the recommended changes nothing seemed to work and I looked elsewhere to no avail. It is now 24 hours since I did the changeover and I came back to it making sure first that the hard drive was secure. I then went through each step until I came to disable secure setup and disabled it and changed the boot sequence to disc and it read from a dvd. It is now in the process of starting windows but it seems to be taking too long.
Yay!! You have solved at least part of my problem. My computer now boots on. Amazing. I had boot settings all wrong. Now I am back to youtube to see if I can find solutions to my next problem. Thanks so much.

Great video man, I managed to fix my Toshiba Portege R930-X0110. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I`m very grateful to you for the much needed help with this frustrating bootloop issue. Although it didn`t automatically read my USB, But it worked when I manually went into boot menu and selected USB.

This has been driving me crazy all week. I finally got it to boot up like a normal laptop.
This is what I did.
Go into the BIOS and make these changes:
Getting into the BIOS you have to hold down the F12 key while pressing the power button on the laptop and holding it for about 2 seconds and release it.
1. Find boot speed and change it from Fast to Normal
2. The advanced tab under "System Configuration" change the boot mode from
UEFI to CSM
Save the changes and reboot. You will see the F2 and the F12 appear on the bottom left side of the screen.
From there you can work on the computer.

I started out with a boot disk failure that eventually became the error you mentioned in this video. After making your changes I still have a boot disk failure and I've tried Windows 7, 8.1, and 10. I've even tried Linux Mint and Ubuntu, yet I still have problems. I think I need to replace the hard drive and I think that should solve the boot disk failures? The sad part is that on my laptop the hard drive is internal and my computer needs to be cracked open. That's beyond my abilities even with RUclips tutorials and it will have to go in the shop. Ugh! The good part is this computer shop charges a more reasonable price than his competitors.
_Edit:_ I installed a Linux Operating System that does not take up as much space on the hard drive and uses less RAM/Memory as the aforementioned ones. It is: _lubuntu 17.10.1 desktop amd64_ I'm testing it right now and so far it's working great. The amd64 works with Intel based x64 too.

Toshiba stuck on automatic repair. Can't get into boot menu can't get into safe mode. It literally won't let anything happen. I've tried several times and it didn't work.
I think you have corrupted bootable file which is why it's not going anywhere, it could happen due to some programs or files you have downloaded and virus got into it.
Have you tried booting with safe mode?
OK, If you actually get the laptop to Boot to Windows by changing all those BIOS settings, how do you actually FIX the Windows Boot problem and then reset the BIOS settings back to normal??

This problem for me is intermittent on my Qosmio DX730 - All-in-one. I have reinstalled windows several times. I switched it on after the same error months ago, yesterday and was surprised that it booted up ok with no errors. After leaving it alone for about 4-5 hours, I came back to the same error. I am now not sure that it is a HDD or OS error. Could it be RAM or temperature issue?

For those of you , who are able to boot from usb and other media , but when windows complets installation you get Boot fail : hdd ..... ,go again to installation , but this time chose comand prompt , and run those comands : Bootrec /fixmbr , bootrec /fixboot , bootrec /rebuildbc .

So I'm having the PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM - No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key. I have checked the connections and all seems to be well. When I start the laptop it takes me directly to the black screen and not the Toshiba start-up screen. I just need to understand how to get to the BIOS menu from this black screen. It seems no matter which key combination I hit I just get more and more of the same "PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM ....."
What is the fix to get into the BIOS menu?

I did exactly the same steps , and I saw the same results, but when I clicked "Next" they asked me to "Upgrade" or "Custom" download, for the upgrade I have to restart my pc without the installation media, which brings me back to the black screen, custom doesnt work either, I tried to press "Repair my computer" , they said it cant be repaired, and theres no any recovery image files to recover, I tried running cmd for safe mode and I cant even do that! Please help, thank you!

I am having an issue with my laptop, a Windows 10 update disabled my wifi access, I restored to a previous version of windows and it worked until the next time it updated, then when I restored to a previous version of windows, it is now stuck in "restoring to previous version of windows", it has been a week and I have tried every video on here, nothing works. I'm getting errors that windows has detected file system corruption, when I apply fix, it says it fixed it but then doesn't work and comes back with the error again.

Worked up until the last part. It now says Check cable connection and No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key. Any idea what to do from here?
Mine still says the same thing except the text is a different font, I don't have a DVD or a USB connected is that a problem?
Mine won't start booting unless I hit any of the keys on the keyboard. It doesn't cause any real issues but it can be annoying because it will just sit at the Toshiba logo until I press a key. It's weird.
Try to run it in safe mode and then shut down the computer and then restart it again and see if it fixes the problem.
Did all that but it didn't work. When I boot from disk a black screen comes up with a flashing underscore in the upper left corner. Help please.

Fantastic- worked a treat for me.
My laptop restarts on its own at every start up once daily then resumes to be fine for the entire day, I have replaced my power supply it doesn't freeze, lockup or restart as I'm working on it after I changed my power plan to maximum performance. However, I'm still having issues at start up restarting as the windows logo appears then shuts down and restarts automatically then resumes to load windows 10 OS. Please help me

Under security, I couldn't see "secure boot", it's only user and supervisor password. Where can I find security boot?

our new laptops doing this but we did not get a start up disk from toshiba and its just 4weeks out of warranty from Argos ! it has been the worst laptop iv ever used! its my mums and its never used because its so so slow and nothing on it! now doing this today iv changed all this and its says no boot file name received and no bootable device insert boot disk! that we dont have and will not be paying for one either at there stupid prices! can you help anyway?

Hi, I'm currently using Window 10 and would like to install Winodw 7 on my Toshiba laptop.
After i set CSM boot option and restart. The bios show me "Reboot and Select Proper Boot device. I tried plugin my bootable USB windows and it still show the message. If i change back to UEFI boot, it work normally again.
