Sad Erik left the band. Indelt he gave the band much needed emergy and got them back on the carts.... This live album os excellent..... Its possible they were cpntracted to do the live album
I’m a big Skid Row fan and very bummed that they ignored the Solinger albums. They were all very underrated as was him as the lead singer for so long. Also would have been good to hear something from Subhuman too.
Hey Brendon, i ordered my copy on Friday from Amazon Canada and received it the next day. Great packaging. Agreed that i would have loved to have heard a few songs from SubHuman Race as well. Pyro noise is very distracting. Gonna miss Erik, he seemed to be the perfect fit. Hope you get your copy soon.
My local record store, Karma Records in Indianapolis had a copy ($20 USD) that I picked up yesterday. I'm glad they had it since I had heard that there were stocking issues. I was a little bummed that it is in a double digipak. Skid Row socials had been showing a picture of the Japanese version and it is in a jewel case. Not sure why we get stuck with digipacks in the states. I would have liked a Blu-ray instead of a DVD but it does not appear they released it that way. Anyway, glad to have it. Thanks for the review.
Great review. Not surprised that they mostly stuck to the hits and ignored the Solinger stuff since it was so badly received. My copy is on the way from Amazon Canada.
I get omitting the Solinger stuff, but I have mostly read just good or great reviews of The Gang's All Here. But you can't sell tons of records anymore, no matter how great the reviews and reception are. And that really sucks.
On the anniversary streaming release of Skid Row's first album, they released a live concert with the original lineup I just found out about it after watching this video. Have you heard that? I really want to hear it.
That’s true, the first two albums are the best. But that doesn’t mean the others aren’t still good and have some great tracks on them. This is also why bands don’t sell albums. If a band won’t play stuff from all their albums in concert how do they expect fans to be exposed to those albums? It’s a missed opportunity for the band both creatively and promotionally.
I've been listening to it all weekend. It is good, well recorded and I just wished they had included My Enemy or Into Another from Subhuman Race to make it perfect.
@@BrendonSnyder I didn’t truly. I was just kind of joking because there are a lot of bands who put out old material, even live stuff. But I knew that wasn’t going to be the case here. I really liked the Thickskin album with Johnny for the record. I wasn’t completely against Skid Row with another singer.
So strange that Slave to the Grind was the first metal record to hit #1 on the Top.200, and yet it only sold 40% of what the debut record sold. This live release should have definitly included more songs from The Gang's All Here record especially October's Song. I don't think the Skid Row faithful will mind the exclusion of tunes from all records between Subhuman and TGAH since they're mostly throwaway records that most fans don't give a rat's ass about. Erik Gronwall had to leave the band due to the toll that touring took on his health. He posted a photo from the road showing a breakout of blisters all over his throat/neck area.. But that doesn't mean that the band can't or shouldn't release this killer live record. It's good to see EG on the new MSG song with Slash (Mother Mary,). Also looking forward to hearing EG on MSG's soon to be released new studiio record. I hope their European tour will come to the States for some dates.
@SeanMorrisonRocks fair enough, but most fans regard the sophomore release as the band's best despite it selling only a fraction of the debut's units sold.
Love that we're all in agreeance that the pyro is too much, way too much. It's a very good live performance, and on a DVD the pyro would be great I can already tell, but man is it like a car alarm going off mid song when just trying to listen to the songs.
Erik isn’t actually sick. His prioritizing of his health has nothing to do with his previous cancer which has not returned. I think it’s about prioritizing his mental health and not wanting the drama from the band. That’s speculation of course but Erik released a statement after Skid Row saying he was fine and is not sick.
@@BrendonSnyder Erik wrote in his book just released that he couldnt handle the heavy touring due to his cancer recovery. He tried to get the band management to reduce the tour dates somewhat but they were not willing to do that so he had to leave the band. Very strange from the band imo since they finally found a great singer.
And that's sad, since Subhuman Race isn't that bad of an album at all. It's just that the times had changed, and the band's internal dynamics were rapidly deteriorating. I think they may never get rid of the bad taste of that time period. I kind of understand why they choose not to revisit some of those songs.
‘Slave to the Grind’ is missing all the heavy “chug” in the main riff. I’m not feeling this production at all. Honestly, it’s not Erik’s strongest performance either, and Rachel is too high in the mix.
No Anthony, Metal Health was the first Metal album to reach #1. It did not debut at #1. Slave To The Grind was the first Metal album to debut at #1. Look it up.
Ya it’s interesting that Erik couldn’t stay with Skid Row and tour due to health reasons. Now he’s apparently going on tour as the singer for Michael Schenker 🤔
@@Starman2112ofKings You got some of that wrong. He is only doing a few European dates with Michael, seeing as how he still can't fly back and forth from Sweden to the states just yet. The article clearly said he's only touring Europe and Erik also said it on his FB page.
No, not the singers (plural) just one, Bach. They didn't have any problems with the other singers and they got along with all of them, but Bach. Bach wasn't their choice, the record company said, we like your sound, but you need to find a different singer. They were already recording the album with Matt Fallon. As soon as industry people met Bach, they said to the band oh, you're going to have problems with that one. lol Even industry people saw it.
Yeah setlist is very predictable and no representation of Subhuman Race is crazy. Dvd format is a horrible decision also. It's a dinosaur format. Erik sounds great though and it's a massive shame he's already left.i I can see my interest in the band disappearing again.
None of them do any Subhuman Race stuff. The band was falling apart right after Slave, Bach was already banished to the roadies bus for his substance abuse and the band was still under a three record contract. They had to make that album whether they wanted to or not, and they all hate it from what all of them have said.
Erik was over worked by skid row mgt to a point his body said no more! , but there are 7 great HEAT ALBUMS that are better than SR anyways! do yourself a favor and buy them, you wont regret it....
Hi Brendon! Nice review! Thanks!!! Greetings from Brazil !!!! Let´s Rock !!!!
Greetings from the US! Hope all is well in your part of the world. Rock on!! 🤘
@BrendonSnyder thanks!!! Everything is alright here.

Yeah it’s a shocker why they did what they did. Additionally I wonder if there were more songs that were performed but not included.
@@BrendonSnyderGood point. Maybe saved for a future deluxe edition or possibly a blu ray/ dvd.

Is that a G&L Rampage in the background?
Yes it sure is, good eye! It’s a 1992 model.
I think it's a great live album but am surprised there's not more songs from The Gang's All Here.
They were only playing 3-4 songs live
Looking forward to getting a copy. My local shop says its on backorder too
Didn't think I was a fan of Skid Row. This live album really impressed me because of the songs and sound quality. Glad I gave it a chance.
Skid Row seems to have a revolving cast of singers. I am starting to wonder if it’s a curse! 😂😜 Reminds me of the drummers from the movie, Spinal Tap.
I've recently discovered your channel. You are a very interesting person. I enjoy your music reviews.
I'm waiting to get my copy of this, looking forward to it. I really enjoyed the Erik Grönwall era and it's great to get this release. 🔥🔥🔥

Got to agree with you on your points, especially the Skid Row live album track listing, and under-used albums for eg

@hevihoo , my mistake, I meant to say ignored the Solinger stuff. The Gronwall album is phenomenal!
On the anniversary streaming release of Skid Row's first album, they released a live concert with the original lineup I just found out about it after watching this video. Have you heard that? I really want to hear it.
Yes I’m aware but it’s not a stand alone release. So the Live In London album is their first official live album. 👍
One of the best live albums of recent years. It's a shame Erik had to leave the band. He seemed to be an original member
i pre ordered the vinyl on amazon and aparently i will get it between the 27th september and oct 1st knock on wood
Princeton Record Exchange had the vinyl in stock yesterday (Sep 21)
The 1st 2 albums are easily their best. Those albums are perfect . The rest aren't close

I was hoping this would’ve been a classic Skid Row with Sebastian Bach on vocals from 1990. but alas, I knew that wasn’t going to be the case.
Sensation hasn’t been part of the band for 28 years. Why did you think he might be part of this live album?

Billboard charts started using soundscan in 1991 and the charts were counted differently

Certainly rendered less important by the very quick departure of Eric Gronwell.

I think he means the first debut album to reach #1, not to chart at #1 upon release.
Isn't it the first #1 of the 'Sound Scan' Era?
I’ve always wondered why Skid Row can’t seem to keep singers. Is it the singers or the members of the band that are the problem?
