  • Linda Ronstadt is a once in a lifetime kind of lyrical interpreter. Her signature hit song remains “Blue Bayou,” a somber ballad yearning after simpler times, which she recorded for her 1977 studio album, Simple Dreams.

You have just landed on the most beautiful female voice on the planet. She was the first female to sell out arenas. She ruled the 70’s and 80’s and continued for a total of forty years, spanning multiple genres. Her catalogue is huge and diverse. The sweetest, most powerful voice you will ever hear! Nice reaction. 🌺✌️

The pedal steel guitar is used widely in country and Hawaiian music. Linda was one of the pioneers of the genre country-rock (rock songs played with country instruments), from the debut of her first solo album "Hand Sown, Home Grown". In Blue Bayou she took a rock ballad and added the pedal steel. It's no wonder it climbed so high on the country charts.

"You're No Good" would be a good follow up. My favorite on YT is from Midnight Special w/ Skunk Baxter on the congos. The b-side of the 45, "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love with You)" was released to country stations the same day "You're No Good" was released to the rock stations. Both songs rocketed to the top of 3 charts. The 3rd chart was r&b for YNG. Linda is the first artist to top 3 charts at the same time.
Ronstadt's musical library is diverse. She has Grammys in 5 different genres; rock, country, Latin-traditional (mariachi-ranchero) , Latin-tropical (Cuban Jazz) and children's lullabies with nominations in 4 other genres. No one else can come close to that feat in both nominations and awards. She's appeared in 2 Broadway musicals and received a Tony nomination for "Pirates of Penzance" and a Golden Globe Award for her role in the movie.

Linda covers many songs, but she tends to make them her own.

That's called a pedal steel guitar. It's used in tons of country songs.

In 2013, Linda was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and can no longer sing. Such a great loss.

0:23 No, you had it right. Linda is everyone's lady. Willie Nelson said it best: "There are two types of men in this world, those with a crush on Linda, and those that have never heard of her."
