      all at same time, you have to have down loaded bose application to allow bose to speak to your device.

      it will open up a drop down menu, from this you select the old version of the software.

      @Common_Opinion I already had that app, Didn't press it at the same time but it worked anyway 😅. Anyway thank u, still it's not convenient this whole battery shipping mode entry 🤔 quite annoying actually

    It took me a while to figure out all the steps. I kept reading the letter and all the comments and bam it worked. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
    Now for the bigger problem. After reading all the comments I can't help but feel Bose programmed their software to do this on purpose. I too called Bose and was told to send the unit in for a $80.00 dollar repair. I complained and said it was 2 months out of warranty and barely over a year old. The tech put me on hold and asked the supervisor if they could lower the price to $40.00. The supervisor said yes. I believe there was NO supervisor and this is standard trickery practice. Imagine just how many people sent the speaker in for a simple reprogram that cost them $80.00. What a HUGE scam. Bose, never again and I will spend the rest of my life telling my story about this scam.

      i'm not in to making accusations with regards to what bose is up to. My channel is actually a law channel not a fix it channel. If you wish to put your claim to bose then you would need to consider facts and evidence to support your claim. Write (on paper reg mail) to "john doe" CEO for your territory to settle claim in private with your concerns and see how they react.
      you can only really claim for damages unless you believe a larger public trust issue exist in terms of quality control and lack of customer aid.
      and dont use a lawyer, unless its your brother/sister (whom even then you probably cant trust).

      Totally agree with your comments, I received the exact same response from Bose. Unfortunately I cannot get my SoundLink Mini to work so I am sending it to them for $53 Canadian with tax (which they claim is 1/2 the $95 originally quoted). They were good enough to pay the postage :) What a scam. Never again will I purchase Bose.

    I contacted Bose for help and after 35 mins - not even the offer of help how to downgrade - did however want to sent it to Belgium for repair at a cost of £69 - with a further eventual offer of 10% discount - eventually referred to to 'back office' for help. Very helpful video and worthy of praise - thank you kindly and best regards.Alex PS I didn't even manage to get to the the bose technical people!!!! Shocking service indeed from Bose

    FINALLY!! I almost gave up and bought a new one!! it took me months to finally get it. at first I didn't get it with the letters but now I can finally use it again! i'm so grateful for it! thanks!!

    Like so many other people below I would like to share my immense gratitude to you for sharing your advice on how to recover my Soundlink Mini 2. It just had a blinking red light when i turned it on and fortunately after a few RUclips videos including an official Bose one I found yours, which was the only one that worked. Bose should have a better video than the useless one they have. Your detailed explanation really helped and a few of the comments were also useful. I had to do the full A+D+V+up+down a few times before I got the green 'Apply' button and then needed to update twice. Because the first time I unplugged before it was fully charged (Green light) and it reverted to the flashing red light. The second time I was more patient and checked the Battery charge by pressing the on/off button to get an update. Once it was green I was able to unplug from the USB port and it now works perfectly.

    I went to the Australian Bose site , downloaded the software for the Mini II and it connected , updated and now charging and playing music.

      Luca Angio well I didn't solve it but Bose did. I called them, their service was excellent. I sent it to them and they sent it back in 10 days, fixed.

    Thanks very much for posting! This worked for me as well. I was up to date and when I hit the keys to downgrade the option was the latest version but I hit apply changes anyway. Took about 5 min and now my speaker is playing music. So happy as I called Bose help line and they told me to try the power button. When that didn't work he told me that was all the troubleshooting we could do and I needed to pay $80 to have my device serviced. What a joke! Cheers!

    Yihaaaa!!! yes it worked. Ok 2 more steps to add to the video: Press a, d, v, arrow up, arrow down in a quick sequence. Not all at the same time. it has to go in a certain rhythm, otherwise you dont get another option on your Bose website. So finally happenend. BUT I didnt get the option to change my 1.1.4 version to 1.1.3 version. There was no option there. 1.1.4 was the only thing to choose from. However the was an APPLY button. Didnt have a clue, but clicked it and now works! Whohooo super happy. thanks to all!

    i tried many times with other and this method... today worked... ADV + up+down all toghether... and in advance mode .... but how my speaker was already "up to date" ... i tried changing the language... and then start to make the change.... and the speaker woke up!!!! its like a miracle!!!! thanks very much! o tried many times till work!!!! (i repeat... my spwaker was up to date o upgrade from factory... my solution was change the language) .... from chile im gratefull

    Thank you - worked like a charm. I did not need to do the advupdown - it didn't work then I noticed while it said my software was up to date and it offered no download option - there was a button at the bottom which said "Apply" and when I pressed that it updated the bose again, even though it was already up to date. That fixed it. It is able to charge now. Thanks!

    Cheers for the video. Like others I also didn't see older firmware options available. But as someone below commented, changing the language and hitting apply seems to initiate the firmware being reinstalled. And this worked. Red light gone. Yellow light on. Accepting charge. Talking. Plays music as normal.

But after Watching you video I tried the down grading option of ADV + arrow keys and it gave me option to upgrade the firmware and Finally it started working !! , You got my Subscription for Sure ..Thanks a lot !!!

    YAAAAAZZZZZZ!!!!!!!... FOLLOWING THE STEPS WORKED...
    added info:
    - using my laptop, btu.bose.com would not recognize my speaker throwing an alert message
    - used my roommates pc (tower not laptop) and the webpage recognized it
    - it was up to date 11.4 (or something like that)
    - downgraded it to previous version
    - after 100% downgraded, speaker woke up and alerted battery was (in fact) at 10%
    - working

    HFS, this worked! Thank you so much for sharing/publishing. I contacted bose regarding this same issue and they neglected to notify me this was an option. They did however offer me an $80 service option to have the speaker assessed and/or fixed. I will say as others have pointed out, it took several attempts for the A D V up/down command to work. Not sure what I did wrong the first few times but perseverance paid off. This speaker sat for months unused and now its back to life! Chalk up a win for the good guys

    Thanks so much for this. I had to load the previous update then the 1.1.4 update again and it worked. I had almost given up on it! Took me a while to understand (a) (D) (V) buttons until my son said just try ADV on the keyboard.

    Wow - big thank you. I had viewed 'Mr Thomman's' youtube video, tried the resets and firmware 1.1.4 upgrade, but the red flashing light refused to budge ! Downgrading the firmware has done the trick - as you described, the amber light appeared part way through the downgrade to 1.1.3 - it is blinking amber as I type this but hopefully 'green' is on its way !!!

    I succeeded using the "a" "d" "v" "up" "down" & managed to get the updater into "advanced mode". The software was up-to-date & applying further update or regress failed. So I changed to French Voice prompt to force & reprogram.... & oohh laaa laaa C'est bon!! merci beaucoup.

    I just solved my issue - mine was blinking red light but taking no charge and couldn't put it into shipping mode - but upon blinking yellow it popped up on my computer, but it was already at the latest firmware ( 1.14 ) and in advanced mode on btu.bose I couldn't see any older version - however, all I had to do was change the voice language on it to a new language - instantly fixed it. After that I could switch it back to English and its still working. Hopefully this helps someone.

    Legend. If there's no option to "downgrade" the software (There wasn't an option for me to downgrade to 1.1.3 from 1.1.4. when i did the A/D/V/up/down press), you can still click "Apply Changes" and that will essentially re-install the up-to-date software (5 mins). Mine works perfect after that. Thanks!

    Just did that and it solved my problem, even though mine was saying that its up to date with software 1.1.4. but once I pressed adv up down burtons it prompted an upgrade which fixed the problem

    Very helpful clip - Bose play silly games with this issue - taking considerable time on the phone to virtually no good conclusion. Their system is NOT helpful at all and points to sending the unit for repair at a cost of £69. Great video

    Thanks for the video dude. Went through the whole process and I got the Bose back up and running. It works fine until I try to recharge it again and once I place it back in the cradle or charge it directly after about five mins of charging the red light come back on and I’m back to the same situation? Any advice?

    It wasn’t clear to me but eventually I figured out you press A D V up arrow and down arrow in a quick sequence for it to give you the options. (I pressed them at the same time and nothing happened)

    Very clear video, thanks. I did the A-D-V-up-down thing and got the drop down menu - BUT THERE WAS NO OLDER FIRMWARE OPTION AVAILABLE! only 1.1.4, not the 1.3.1 that seems to be the solution. HELP!!!!

      there should be an APPLY button. press that and your bose will work again. Look at my comment above!

      SOLVED! Same for me, 1.3.1 didn't show up and I was already up to date with the update 1.1.4. But I tried with applying the 1.1.4 update again, and it started re-updating. When the update was almost done, the bose page said that it lost connection with my Bose and that I should pull the charging cable out and reconnect it. So I did. The Bose was now flashing yellow so then I tried pressing the middle button on my Bose for 15 secounds and FINALLY it started flashing in white! I stopped pressing the middle button, tuned the Bose off, and then when I pressed Start, my Bose worked again, started charging and connected to all my devices! :D

    Thank you for this. Just saved my Dad from throwing this away. Tried all the other ways of trying to revive it by plugging into the wall... pressing multi function button for 10 secs and then removing the micro usb whilst still holding the button which had no effect at all.
    Got stuck on the website btu.bose.com/ then A...D...V... up/down arrows as you suggested but but tried a few ways and it worked. Just remember to do the ADV arrow bit BEFORE plugging into the computer then the website gives you the 'advanced' options. When I got to that stage it only had 1 software version so I thought 'oh great, go through all this and then it ends!' but I changed the language as someone on here suggested and 'apply changes' and it updated and then started to make all the right bleeps etc. It was flashing red the entire time before I changed the language so was worried but then it suddenly woke up. Promptly changed it back and all back to normal! Thank YOU!!

    hi all, i am originally stuck with that A-D-V-up-down hot keys. After trying, I would suggest input that hot keys before you connect your device to the computer. Simply choose the latest version and "Apply", "processing" bar will appear. Simply follow the web instruction then. Hope this help.

    My Soundlink survived this 2nd time. The fact the Bose hide advance mode from users and their supports keep suggesting repair for more than half the original price makes me think it is a really cheap company trying to brand themselves high end. Their assistance on community forum is really a joke. My last purchase from them for sure.

      If you are accusing them of something take your case to court and prove it. Otherwise they wont stop, unless a big judgement goes against them and affects their bottom line..

    Hi! Would appreciate some help here. I press the letters A, D, V, arrow up and arrow down, all at the same time, but nothing happens. Im on the BOSE website but it still says version 1.1.4 is up to date. I dont get a screen where it says downgrade your version etc. So still no solution. Would love to hear from somebody. Thank you!

      downgrade the software then upgrade it again this is the only way to wake the device up if its locked in battery preservation mode.

    After getting it working properly for a month or so (see my comment below) it suddenly died on me and went back to the flashing red light. I've tried to downgrade the software again but now the Bose site no longer gives an option for version 1.1.3 and when i try to reinstall version 1.1.4 it gives an error message. I can't believe how bad this model and its software are! Do you have any more suggestions because the speaker is currently unusable and I'm not getting any response from Bose.

    i have tried these steps and i don't know if i am doing something wrong or what but nothing is working for me. my Bose Soundlink mini 2 will not charge. have tried different plugs, have tried reseting to factory and tried the other reset option. all i get when i turn the speaker is battery low, please charge now. i have left it on charge even over night and nothing. i am scared i now have a AUD$300 brick. it was working fine then suddenly not.....please help.

    I can't re-install the firmware, because of this error: "The update can't start because the battery level is too low. Please charge your product and try again."... my Soundlink is showing solid red light when connecting the charger... but it won't charge. I also tried charging it on the docking station and connected it with a second USB cable to the pc, also does not work... any suggestions?

    Not working because I CAN`T charge it so it has no battery. And in order to perform a update it needs to be turned on!

      Well my device was not charged for months but still had a red flashing light when you turned it on. Press the power button and then hold down the multi-function button for 10 seconds if it starts flashing white then you have a chance and watch the video for the rest.
      If your device is totally non-responsive then contact bose whose details are also in the video.
      Its unlikely your device is totally out of battery power as the whole problem is cause by the battery preservation software.
