Hey Nick, I've been following your channel from early days (sort of) and have to say how nice it is to see how things have developed from both the technical side (your builds) but also from the aspect of Melbourne cycling culture. Delightful. Congratulations. Always look forward to your posts.
G'day Mike, thank you so much for your support. Consider myself pretty lucky to live in Melbourne and get to know some amazing people in the cycling world. Stay safe🙌

Oh yea what a nice Christmas gift 👍 thx Shane for the video, really enjoyed watching and listening zzzzzzzzzzzzzippppppppp 👍 great music by the way. Stay safe and ride on!
Did I hear a little birthday song during the chain install? 😂. This video is so awesome! Stoked I have the same bike coming (not same build sadly 😢) I'm so excited though as the color is so awesome!!! Worth the extra month and half wait! Who would've thought I'd buy a bike that isn't available for almost two months... 😩😜
Lol. soooo noice. Liked your lightsaber thang. Clever boy. Amazing to get a gravel bike under 8kg with not a particularly light frame and fork, and a kg of rubber. Are 303s the right rims to be smashing off road though???? Though suppose Shane is almost bantamweight.
hello, I'm building a gravel mullet, my question is about the size of the chain, is the original sram eagle xx1 chain the correct length for a 44 teeth ratio at the front and with a 10/52 cassette? Thanks
Maybe you have an advise for me. I build up the same only different is the Sram force 1 crankset. I’m not able to adjust the setup of the chain not to touching on the first 4 gears the next bigger one. So I think I have some problems withdraw chainline, but this is given by the frame/crankset.
@thedropcycling is this build running and XD free hub body or XDR with spacer? Doing a similar build and the XD hubs for my wheels cannot be found due to supply shortage, but XDR is in stock.
Hey I want to build an affordable bike, not sure if it will be carbon because it's for urban use; also for urban environment, I want a Minivelo (more agile on corners). Is a Minivelo frame lighter? Or is it the same weight? Intuition would say it is lighter, but so far, the ones that I've seen lean towards the heavy side.
@@thedropcycling really? What does it mean “doing it right”? A 5mm spacer on top is all you need. I would not take the risk, especially not with a gravel bike
Howdy, recently discovered your channel. The builds are really cool and especially have a question about GPLama's Aspero build. Is there a way to run the brake hose thru the stem down the steer tube into the frame. With and AXS build it would give it an extra clean look. Thanks and look forward to seeing more of your work.
hey Tony, welcome. I would say maybe not, from factory the frame needs to be designed in a way that the there are room for the cable to go around the steerer and hide inside the headset bearings if that makes any sense, have a look at my Venge, Colnago and Giant propel build videos you would probably have a better idea how it works!
@@thedropcycling hey thanks for the quick reply. Ok I figured I might be expecting too much but 1 exposed hose isn’t too bad. I’ll check out your the colnago and giant builds.
🔥🔥🔥👍🏻. Great build! Only thing I noticed (and I'm NOT a bike mechanic, so this is not critique:)) - I always wear a mask cutting full carbon steerers.. is that not recommend? If so I'll stop doing that ;)))
good question Marc, depends on the surface, I normally use lithium grease for metal to metal but if I think it is needed for some heavy lub I would use it too
The frame is not the lightest but very fast and agile for a solid cross bike. love my aspero - the xxl bb is so stiff very nice for climbing and sprint...
Wow love this bike, I am in the process of changing my Gravel bike and this is great!. Do you know how much was the total cost? Thanks. Also this is the first video I see in your Channel, Love it!
Your attention to detail is second to none! Exactly what this bike deserved. Thanks again for the build (and the video!). Sub 8kgs! Woohoo! 🚲✨
My pleasure brother. Glad you love it👊
Great Christmas Present Lama, you have set the standard high, I like it!!!
17:45 Happy bikeday to Shane! Happy bikeday to Shane!
Ride footage soon please! Less than 8kg for the whole bike and with that massive plate of a cassette made me cry happy tears! :'))
Its a dream bike for many haha😄
I’m so confused upon what I just stumbled onto...but...it gives me warm fuzzies. So I’m staying.
Hahahaha yes sir. Thanks for commenting mate. Hopefully one day will meet you 👍🙌
Here hear.
Beautiful work, beautiful bike! ✨

What a bike !!! Thing of beauty. You are a happy man, Shane :) I can't wait to see your next VDOs featuring this bike.
Can't wait😄
Never seen a bike shop fitting protective tape on a bike before in my area, that’s A plus finishing touch👌🏾
Agree
that 52 on the back looks insane
I agree
Beautiful! I just got my Aspero frame and am building it up to a similar spec - 3.4 AR, Ultegra/GRX di2, ENVE cockpit. Let the gravel racing begin!
damn that's an awesome build. well done mate
LOL gullible fool.
Excellent video, lovely looking bike too. GPLama will be happy.👏👏👏
The master at work! Beautiful bike, great choice of components. You know it’s a serious build when brand new gloves come out!👌
Oh mate, you know me so well😄👍
The Sram Eagle cassette is just crazy beautiful. That should be the gravel standard :D
Omg please don't make thid standard haha start saving up people😄🤣
Best bike build video I have seen to date ! Awesome thank you for sharing 👍
Hey mate thank you thank you. That's too kind👍
54 will fit like a glove Shane. That’s 800 grams lighter than mine,a beast!
🧤
The force is strong with this one! What a beauty!
You sensed it too?😄
I know I’ll rewatch this again and again ... so great
Thanks Paul
So good Nick! I bet that will be a joy to spin around on. Under 8kg and what a dinner plate!!! Well done.
Thanks Luke. Yeah it turned out an awesome build👍
Again, your videos never fail to satisfy me.
Thanks Nelson👍🙏
Great video. Such skill. Something very therapeutic about watching a skilled craftsman at work building a thing of beauty.
Thanks Chris👍

Can name all the part in this bike. Thanks
Loved the build and the music, Happy birthday was played oh the irony

That is one smart looking bike! 👍🏻🤩
Exactly. Thanks for commenting
Yeah, for low IQ gullible idiots that is. 😀
Nice bike for GPLama
He looked like a little kid when he first saw the bike, its AWESOME😄
@@thedropcycling Fantastic, well done

Beautiful. Love my Aspero, but that build is something else 👏🏼
Thanks mate
Happy Birthday !

Drop dead georgeous build!

Hahahahhaha, brilliant
I am glad I was not the only one to hear this
Hahaha
Dope build! Is that just a press fit dub bottom bracket? I have this bike with a shimano GRX but want to swap in a rival axs 1x… thanks in advance!
Yes I found the standard dub bb are already quite good👍
what is the white grease in the area of the steering tube bearings?
Is this the bike wout van aert gonna ride next year maybe
Are there any drain holes on those rims for water?
hello, I'm building a gravel mullet, my question is about the size of the chain, is the original sram eagle xx1 chain the correct length for a 44 teeth ratio at the front and with a 10/52 cassette? Thanks
Beautiful video
Can’t believe it was sub 8 kg pretty good with that rear cassette and what was the bar tape.? 😊👍
Hey Dave, me either, it's stupidly light for a gravel bike hey. Bar tap is Zipp as well, gotta be matchy matchy🤗
More like just stupid for a gravel bike. Just another cookie cutter CF piece of junk. 😆
Great build for Lama, what is the name of the white color grease used? thanks
thanks, Race line premium I think
@@thedropcycling thanks! guess you meant Finish Line Premium.
@@Cyclingchoice haha yes
Nick - keep this up and you will need a bigger workshop, "if you build it, they will come" Cheers

that sounds weird, not sure what the problem is maybe bring it to a shop
Tolerances look a bit loose on steerer bearings?
I torqued it right I think
Sweet build
Thanks brett
Is that grease you put on under the cassette and centrelock discs? Did not know I was meant to do that (very basic home mechanic here)
@@brettoau84 yeah you don't need to put a lot
Local Bike Shop, three great words same as TLC when you get the bike. 👍
Cheers Mark
@thedropcycling is this build running and XD free hub body or XDR with spacer? Doing a similar build and the XD hubs for my wheels cannot be found due to supply shortage, but XDR is in stock.
Pretty sure xdr with spacer
Wonderful build! The intermittent HBD tune though..... 🤣
Hahaha I love it
My lord that's a beautiful bike! I had to type this comment with one hand.
Hahahahha thanks
What grease did you use on the headset and bb? What spray did you use to clean the oil from the hoods? great video and build!
Hey matt, it's called Raceline premium grease I think. To get rid of the oil, any alcohol based cleaning product will do the trick
What a shop!!!🙏
Haha thanks Matt
that frame has such a beautiful finish and tone to it, its really quite sexy.
thank you
Love the frame colour. Why doesnt Cannondale come up with these colour combinations?
I knooooowwwwwww
Can I ask why didn’t you grease the headset out of interest? I always do this but isn’t it required/best practices?
Sorry comment made to early..you were just sizing it up!
Beautiful work !! what kind of expander do you use for this build?
Beautiful job Nick, now what ever you do, don't let him put that on an indoor trainer!
haahhaha roger that!!!!!
Hello. What white grease did you use for assembling?
Raceline premium

Hi I am actually not familiar with it wish I could help
Satisfying to watch ✨
shouldn't you always put a spacer on top of the stem with a carbon steerer to avoid the top edge of the step clamping on the end of the steerer?
If you do it right you can avoid it
@@thedropcycling really? What does it mean “doing it right”? A 5mm spacer on top is all you need. I would not take the risk, especially not with a gravel bike
Hello, can you provide the name of the grease for the bb you used?
raceline preium grease
Beautiful machine
Zen of bike building! 🧎♂️

1st time I see your videos and I love it!!!. Could you provide us with the list of all components? I don’t even own a bike and I want that so bad!!
Cervelo aspero frame
Sram red Etap Axs groupset
Zipp 303 firecrest tubeless wheels
Zipp seatpost, handlebars and stem
Pro stealth saddle
Incredible!!!!!

What the total cost
Is the rubber hole covers supplied by cervelo? If not where can I get it?

Butter 👍🏿

yes, you don't want to inhale carbon dust
You should wear a mask or spray some soapy water to stop the dust float in the air
@@Borrobbos you are correct
How do you choose when to use lithium vs normal grease?
good question Marc, depends on the surface, I normally use lithium grease for metal to metal but if I think it is needed for some heavy lub I would use it too
