    Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping.🍀 Good morning on this beautiful cool day I'd like to welcome you each out to the shed of many names. Today we are going to be talking about making more homemade extracts. This time we will be talking about making different extracts from various nuts.
    Making your own homemade extracts is very easy. All you need are the unsalted nuts of your choice, 80 proof vodka and a quart or pint canning jar.
    As long as you follow along with the video you will be able to make your own extracts. You will need to let them sit in a cool dark area for at least eight weeks or longer it's your choice. Or you can leave the nuts in the extract it won't hurt anything at all. You will need to agitate the jars every other day to make sure that the alcohol is mixed well with the nuts.
    After your extract is done to your liking you will strain out the nuts and your extract will be finished. Please do not discard the nuts you can use them in baking afterwards. You do not have to worry about the alcohol content in the nuts due to the fact the heat will evaporate it out. The nuts after being used in the extract are wonderful to use in pies, cakes, cookies, fudge or any thing else of your choosing.
    Hope this video encourages you to make your own different nut extracts as long as you're not allergic to them or a family member is. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comment section below I will answer them as soon as possible. Everyone take care and have a blessed day.
    Blessings,
    Teresa

    Awesome! Thank you so much. Can you make extract with coffee beans? I have bought coffee extract in the past. Would it be the same procedure?

    • @OldWaysGardeningandPrepping
      @OldWaysGardeningandPrepping  2 года назад +1

      Good evening Angel and happy that you enjoyed the video. Yes you can use whole coffee beans to make extracts with. Kona beans are wonderful to use. If you want a really good and rich extract espresso beans are the best. Yes the same procedure just use a little less than half the jar filled with beans.😉 Take care and have a blessed day ahead. ❤️🍀🦉

    I am a new to your channel. You were so very thorough in your video. Thank you. I have a question. I was told to use wax paper on my jars so the alcohol does not touch the metal caps. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @OldWaysGardeningandPrepping
      @OldWaysGardeningandPrepping  Год назад

      Good evening Roxanne and welcome to my channel. Happy that you enjoyed the video. Your welcome and more than happy to help everyone out to learn how to be more self sufficient. As for the alcohol no need to put a separation between it and the lid. Now pure vinegar is a different story you will need to do so and I recommend plastic wrap. As for the wax paper I would not use it at all due to the fact the alcohol and vinegar will leach it out of the paper in to your liquid ruining it. Hope this helps to answer your question. Take care and have a blessed day ahead.❤️🍀🦉

Your easy teaching style gives me the confidence to try it myself. So tickled you did more than almond extract because I thought there was just vanilla and almond. I'm excited to get some vodka and make me some extract. Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge with us! Blessings to you and your significant other.

    Great finds ~ Great extracts ( ... so something tells me that you might know how to use potatoes to make something stronger... using a bathtub back in the day. I know one of my grandparents knew how, too. Interesting...) P.S. hope you are getting paid better by YT as the ads have definitely increased in frequency... a GOOD thing for you! ($$$) Not complaining here at all. I just remember the good old days before you hit 100 subs! 💕

      Good evening Red and happy that you enjoyed the video. Have done a little studying on how to, but my Grandmother knew how. She just didn't have enough time to teach me that lesson before she passed. Hopefully will get paid before long and still feel bad about the ads. If I didn't need the funding they definitely wouldn't be playing.❤️ I know that your not fussing but still feel bad for running them. Oh lordy those were some rough videos back then and honestly feels like such a long time ago.😉 Thankful you have blessed me with your friendship, kindness and inspiration since then. 🦉 Take care and have a blessed day ahead. ❤️🍀🦉

      Good evening B & B Home and happy that you both enjoyed the video. Your welcome and glad to inspire you both. Wonderful to hear that the vinegar turned out great. Yes below is a link for my lemon extract video. You can substitute any citrus for the lemons. However I will say keep it to just one kind of citrus per jar cause mixing several kinds together just does not turn out tasting good in my opinion.
